The food and atmosphere are just like I am back in Germany! The schwein haxen is offered only on Tuesdays, but on this Saturday night it was offered as a special! It was amazing in both presentation and taste! The beers are great and everything else was excellent!

We had tried to go to the Bavarian Chef months ago, but it seems like we are always in Fredericksburg, VA on a Monday and this place is not open on Mondays. On one Thursday we happened by and it was open. What a delight it was too. It was so good in fact we went back on Friday. Thursday... More

Restaurant setting didn't change but the food sure did. 2 of us ordered one salmon and one pork dinner. Salmon was just OK, and the same with the pork but the sides were a disaster. The dumplings were cold, sent back, came back warm but tasteless and gritty, green beans must have been warmed over from days gone by and the... More

Excellent first time visit. The wait staff was very friendly and welcoming. They're uniforms were cute. The restaurant is in the old train station in the historic downtown and has been beautifully converted. The wait staff were very attentive, the menu had an array of choices making the decision difficult. The meal, chicken, stuffing and apple was so beautifully presented... More

They have family style serving where you can pick side dishes to share with the whole table so this makes it a great place to go with your family or friends. I have tasted things that I would normally not try because someone at our table ordered it to share. Service is excellent with the goal of pleasing the diner.... More

Another fine German restaurant in Fredericksburg. Located in a former train station the atmosphere is unique. The food is always excellent but it is a little pricey. If you don't mind spending a little more you will love this place.

We chose this place, pretty much on a lark because it was in a convenient location. WOW - what a lucky choice. It’s in a train station along the Amtrak line between Washington, D.C. and Richmond. It also abuts the cool, hip and fun downtown Fredericksburg shopping district (Caroline St.). You can take a train there (about $15 from Richmond),... More

Food was delicious...but soup was lukewarm, service was a bit slow, had to ask for water several times etc. BUT it was very busy on Thanksgiving Day, so I'm giving them a pass. We would definitely return as the menu was very good -- not just traditional Thanksgiving fare but also a really great German menu authentically prepared.

Located in the Turn Of The 20th Century railroad station on the south side of Fredericksburg(at an Amtrak commuter stop), the building is perfect for the application - 3 large rooms that used to be waiting rooms for the train turned into large dining rooms, large enough that a group of 30 military were celebrating promotions at a single table...
