My first visit and I like the way they do the family style thing. This was really good German food. Very festive atmosphere. Friendly service. Didn't feel rushed. A little bit of Germany right by the train station in Fredericksburg. Can't hear the trains at all. Haven't had a chance to get back but would definitely go again and recommend... More

To preface this review, I lived in Italy for 5 years and spending weekends, weeks or even fortnights in Bavaria were quite common, it was a 10 hour drive. The service expected exceeded all expectations. The building is old, brick and very sound insulated. Soft music playing in the background, linen tablecloths, staff quietly going about their business unobtrusively and... More

Excellent place for fine dining. Top notch service and food. Come hungry, as the portions are large, the deserts are huge, and the coffee is a must after the meal. Been going here for years, and the original location in Madison VA for many more years.

Excellent, excellent German restaurant. The food is out of this world, and they give you SO MUCH of it! It's a challenge to eat all of it! The atmosphere is very nice. It is in the old, converted railway station, next to the railroad tracks. Sometimes, you can hear the train going by. It is tastefully decorated, with a lovely... More

Stationed in Germany 7 years with the Army, the food was as good as anything I could get in a German Guesthouse. Brought back fond memories. The restaurant is in an old train station, which adds to the ambience.

No kidding, folks, this is authentic German cuisine that will knock your socks off and pop a few buttons, so wear some elastic "fat pants." I had leftovers: the chicken over Apple Baden Baden meal was too much food for me already, but sides added to the feast. I stopped and asked for a takeout box; my fiancé kept eating,... More

I've dined here twice and both times were terrific. Good food, nice atmosphere and really great service. Fun place to go for something authentic and different.

From the time we arrived to the time we left ... we had a wonderful night and enjoyed the best German food we've had in years (in America!). We tried the big pretzel, schnitzel (with no sauce), bratwurst platter, cordon bleu). It was all outstanding! Travis was such a great server too. He was attentive and friendly. I'd recommend this... My husband and I dine here sometimes as often as once a month. We enjoy all the dishes, but my favorites include Umpa Shrimp, potato pankcakes served with apple sauce and sour cream, Jager Schnitzel, Zigeuner schnitzel, Roasted Red Pepper Soup with Crab, dill cucumber salad, Goulash, Bavarian Nut Ball..... all good food! I have even had Steak Diane... we... More

We dined here on Easter and had a wonderful meal, so upon returning to Northern Virginia, we eagerly returned for dinner. The atmosphere in the old Fredericksburg train station is charming. The service on this visit was once again excellent. The waiter was knowlegable re the entree details and was attentive but not intrusive. Mixed drinks and an ample selection... More
