I have a mother in law who is from Germany so I have had many German meals and visited German restaurants often. This was our first visit to Bavarian Chef but will definitely not be our last. Our waiter, Travis, was excellent and super friendly. We passed on appetizers and glad we did because the meal portions are huge and... More

The Bavarian Chef is one of my favorite venues in Fredericksburg. From the ever-changing selection of German beer on tap to the wide selection of perfectly prepared Bavarian style entrees to the vast array of family-style side dishes, the Bavarian Chef delivers a superb dining experience. The atmosphere is pleasant and comfortable and the wait staff is friendly and attentive.... More

Visited this restaurant on a recent trip. Was recommended by Driver during Historic Trolly Tour (take this excellent tour!!!). I had the giant pretzel, followed by chicken cordon bleu with creamed corn, red cabbage and spaetzle. My partner had the 4 course menu - bratwurst on a bun, followed by oxtail soup, followed by weiner schnitzel, followed by apple strudel.... More

The Bavarian Chef serves authentic German cuisine in what was once the train station in Fredericksburg. German beers on tap, Bavarian fare, side dishes served family style and oversize portions which guarantee a take home box make this restaurant worth the price you'll pay.

We held a rehearsal dinner for 30 people at the Bavarian Chef. It was for my son's wedding. We found the food excellent, the staff friendly and attentive, and the prices quite reasonable for an excellent meal including a wonderful appetizer table. They did a very nice job with table settings and decorations. We will become regulars here.

Atmosphere and Service were wonderful. Just found a little pricey for dinner for four. Dinner was very tasty and enjoyed by all.

We came here to try to have dinner. But before we decided to get a table, we looked at the menu (since it was our first time here) and didn't find anything appealing to us (no offense to anyone who does, but it just wasn't our kind of food). So instead of getting food, we decided to just get drinks.... More

Came in for late lunch on Sunday. There is no separate lunch menu so we ordered off the more expensive dinner menu. I will say that the portions were very large, we all took some home. Our party had the two pork chop dinner, which was just ok and could have used more seasoning ; the pork tenderloin medallions with... More
