While returning from vacation we stopped in Fredericksburg, VA to have lunch at the Bavarian Chef. This German restaurant is located in the OLD Train Station. Very nice setting. They have a private dining room as well. The main dining room is small. We had the Schweine Schnitzel and the Bavarian Bratwurst Platter Bratwurst over homemade sauerkraut. Both meals were... More

Received a giftcard for this place. Was really pleased with the food. Would definitely go again. Best German food around.

My husband and I made reservations for a Saturday night to celebrate our anniversary. We had never been, but based on the reviews decided it would be good for a special occasion. The pros: Staff was super friendly. We were greeted warmly and when we were escorted to our table there was a plate with Happy Anniversary and our names... More

The appetizer and Desert was excellent. The entrée was average and somewhat of a disappointment. The restaurant was very clean and decorated very nicely . Waiters were very helpful

Good Germain food and good beers. There are other experimental items that might fit your contemporary tastes. Staff was friendly. The resturant was busy even late at night. This has hit the New York Times List. The owner has another location. It is family owned. This location is apiece of history as it is the Fredericksberg train station. We would... More

Visited the Bavarian Chef after a few positive reviews from locals we spoke with during our weekend stay. All recommendations mentioned large portions, authentic offerings and an overall memorable experience. All of the aforementioned were "right on target". The server was knowledgeable, prompt, courteous, available when needed. The food was delicious, proper temperature and brought back memories of my days... More

What a great restaurant . We have been missing authentic German food. On our way home from South Carolina we came across this listed and took the detour . We were so happy we stopped. We had the onion soup, sausage trio and the pretzel for apps. These were all great. We had the wiener schnitzel, sauerbraten, snails, and the pork... More

Food is so good and very filling especially the pork chops or sausage plates. Deaserts are Delilah - love the apple pie one. This place is great for couples and/ or families and special occasions. Waitresses in costume. Make reservations or there will be a long wait.
