This has been a neighborhood gem for years The quality and innovativeness of their food is unparalleled in the city. The only problem is that they are such a small restaurant it's impossible to get in for dinner snow or shine. I resolved to having takeout which is still superb

Our children provided a fabulous sushi dinner last week for my husband's birthday celebration. Every bite of food was fantastic! We did take-out. The order was plentiful and everything was gobbled up. I highly recommend this restaurant for their ability to create beautiful and delectable sushi.

Oishii in Newton is nothing like the Boston Oishii. Much smaller . Actually cramped. Service at the bar and one table that is usually shared. The service is quick but not that courteous. The food is excellent. So if you like Sushi , it is the place to go in the Newton area. Prepare yourself for good food in a... More

Visiting friends in the suburbs of Boston and had a craving for sushi. Oishi is a small place - 1 or 2 tables and a bar that seats something like 12ish. The two of us sat at the bar and had sushi/sashimi platter (had the usual suspects e.g. tuna, salmon, tuna maki, eel, shrimp) California roll (decent), the salmon sashimi... More

The place is small (16 people maybe) but well worth wait. Superior service and sushi. Best in the area and one of the best I've ever had. Thank you to our waiter, Peter, and the chefs for a fabulous experience.

I will admit I am not a fan of sushi in general, but every time I bring people who love sushi to Oishii they all have similar responses saying this place tops all other places they have been to before, which is what made me write this review. The prices are on the higher end, but well worth the price.

On a cold, blustery wintry day, a bowl of steaming udon noodle soup really hit the spot. Served piping hot and loaded with fresh seafood, this savory Nabeyaki soup was very satisfying. Agadashi tofu was our appetizer, and the ginger flavored dish was an ideal way to start the meal. The restaurant is small with some table seating but mostly... More

I've been going to Oishii since they opened and have never been disappointed. The fish is the freshest and their attention to detail and presentation is top notch. Whether smile sushimi or special makis, it doesn't get any better for sushi lovers. It is small...only 10 seats at the bar plus one table that can seat 5. If there is... More

Sushi is one of great passions in my life. I used to live in NYC and had superb sushi there. I also love Fukugaya in Boston, an very old-fashioned, high-quality pricy sushi restaurant. I discovered Oishii last July. The fish at Oishii is comparable to the best-quality NYC sushi restaurants. They always have a wide variety of fresh fish from... More

I was brought here by a friend for lunch, having read the wonderful ratings and reviews. I really wanted to like this place, but alas, the food did not live up to the hype. Some of the fish had a dull finish to it--as if not the freshest. Also, the sush was NOT rolled properly in the rolls--they fell apart-and... More
