I came here with my boyfriend and a friend during restaurant week. I ordered the arugula salad to start, and they ordered the butternut squash soup. The salad was pretty good overall, whereas the soup was tasty but came in a very small bowl (restaurant week?!). For our main entree we ordered 1 each of the 3 available options: the... More

My wife and I happened to be in Brookline and stopped in having read about the restaurant scene in Washington Square. Despite not having reservations we were seated immediately. Nicole was personable and efficient as a server. The martinis were delicious, and the burgers….ahhhhh….let's just say my wife (who never finishes hers) made this an exception! We did not have... We had a cozy meal by the wood burning fireplace at The Fireplace. The service was excellent, extremely friendly, and gave us plenty of time to sit and relax. The server was also very knowledgeable about the menu, how many "smallish" dishes to order, and favorites. We will definitely be returning. This was our third visit.

Had a wonderful meal there. cozy, warm, and excellent service and menu. The food is outstanding-my wife loves the chicken! The only negative is the "pour" for a cocktail. The pour is only 2 jiggers and other restaurants pour a full glass!

We celebrated Christmas dinner here and it was a wonderful experience with the exception of the squished tables and a little unnecessary AC.. Although not 100% full, there were tables put everywhere so it made it difficult to sit down, especially with gifts, coats, etc. At one point, they accidently put on the AC and chilled everyone in the area... They really do have a fireplace, so if you can snag a table in front of it on a cold night, even better. The food is excellent. I particularly like their duck confit salad, steak bites salad and their lobster mac (also done with steak), although I'm not sure the broccoli, which was lukewarm, matched the dish well. Their wines... More

Second time dining for Thanksgiving. Great service and atmosphere. Both of our salads were very good. Pommegranate and pear. Persimmons and bacon. Good flavor and mix. Turkey and stuffing. Good thick slices. Very much homestyle comfort food. Acorn squash risotto was done well and tasty. Not the polish of 5 star dining but a great choice for Anerican country food... More

We looked forward to having dinner again at The Fireplace based on our past experiences (reviewed on another site), and our having a "Living Social" certificate added more to our anticipation. A restaurant that charges $118.00 (pre-coupon, one cocktail each) for a dinner for two is a place that we choose for exquisitely prepared food and attentive professional service, and... More
