We've eaten at other Gustav's locations and always have a great meal the Vancouver location is another home run. We ordered the crab fondue (good) but probably not worth the extra over the traditional fondue, French Onion Soup (probably the best I've ever eaten) hubby had schnitzel, I had an appetizer portion of shepherd's pie with blackberry hard cider to... Stopped in here while visiting a friend, and it happened to be in October. The Paulaner Oktoberfest Marzen beer was very tasty, and paired well with the pork schnitzel, mashed potatoes and green beans. A very authentic and satisfying experience. I will definitely come back and explore the menu and beer selections. Very good.

The food here is spectacular. We had some sausage with mustard sauce, Pretzel and Fondue, and Hungarian Chicken Jäger. A good amount of food that didn't make you regret your food life choices.

Everyone in this restaurant is warm and friendly. It was a cold rainy night when we visited and the place was full. After a very short 5 minute wait we were seated. The atmosphere was cozy with lots of good smells. My husband and son got a sausage plate and particularly loved the wild boar sausage(the platter let you pick... More

Using my three equally weighted factors of ambience, service, and food quality, Gustav's easily rates top marks on all three. The ambience is fun: flags from the German states, sculptures and paintings from German history, brightly colored fixtures. This is a happy place. And our server smiled and worked hard to ensure our positive experience. Food quality was impeccable. My... More

We were there for dinner on a busy Friday night; the food selection is pretty good and most of the people around us were having fondue and beer. The beer selection on tap is pretty good for German beers. It took a while for the waitress to show up. It the food when it arrived was awesom

Having lived in Germany for 11 years, my wife wanted to celebrate her birthday with some good German dishes . . . . but was disappointed with her choice of restaurants. I will start off by saying the atmosphere inside of Gustav's and their pretzel is truly authentic - which with the beer are the highlights of my review. Although... More

It was soooo interesting to go to Gustav's especially when you are from Germany. The food is amazing. We did not expect that. The Schnitzels are delicious and the meat balls with the potatoe salad to die for. It was defenitely a nice place to eat although it is a little too Bavarian for our taste! Thanks for being taken... Went for dinner with a large group -- they managed to serve everyone at same time which is always impressive. Highly recommend the German Potato Salad. Also bread pudding for dessert. I had the turkey so it was not a typical German entree but it was real turkey and very nicely prepared, not dry at all. I did not care... More
