The staff is always a kick to converse with and they are on top of their game knowing the most current menu selections. I appreciate their knowledge of the popular entree that fits with a particular wine or cocktail pairing. The restaurant is popular during Happy Hour and on the weekend, so make sure to get reservations in early!

We enjoyed my daughter Susan’s birthday at the Beaches Restaurant. We were very impressed with both the service, quality of food and the ambiance with its view of the great Columbia River.
We were treated as honored guests at our table. Not only by our server, Andrew, but by everyone who stopped by to check on our happiness. One great example was how someone stopped at our table to chat with my six year old grandson. He said that everything was fine!
We enjoyed appetizers before our meal and they were wonderful. The calamari was deep fried and drizzled with Beaches special sauce. The mushrooms with beef bits swam in an flavorful brown sauce. Both were perfectly prepared and served at the perfect temperature. It was my first time for the beef bits but they have become my favorite. The balance of the delicate mushroom and beef bits were a taste treat.
I could go on and on about each of our main dishes, however I will just skip to our most favorite dessert. The chocolate cake served hot was so outstanding. I am not a strong chocolate person but that cake may have converted me.
We flew in from Santa Cruz, CA to celebrate this birthday and Beaches made the trip a giant success. Our thanks to the outstanding team of The Beaches Restaurant in Vancouver, WA.

The Wind Beneath My Wing
810502799
For me, the server makes or breaks the dining experience. Sara, kind and comely, didn’t know she’d be my hero; the wind beneath my wing, but it turns out she’d end up being all I’d ever need this night. I came to Beaches with my mother snd my step sister and brother for a farewell dinner. I’d be returning home to Costs Rica after a long return to get things in order after my father’s death.
I had the cod fish and chips. What was I thinking? Halibut is the way to go for this entree. Nonetheless. I was satiated. Perhaps a bit too satiated. So although the fish and the chips weren’t aces, a man such as myself can’t let food go to waste. I ate and I ate. Snatiation being the end result. I am a victim of stomach sneeze reflex; a genetically autosomal dominant trait passed to me by my now deceased father (God rest his soul). Well, I over did it with deep fried mediocrity and burst in to sneezes, one after the other. Well Sara immediately saw what was happening. She saw I had blown with a nasal power stroke my surgical mask in to my step brother’s ahi sauce. I was trapped at my booth. COVID restrictions barred me from hurrying to the restroom free of concealment. Knowing I couldn’t conceal my sneezes behind a sauce soaked mask, she dashed with sass and a shimmy for napkins, lots and lots of napkins. Little did she know the little shake was in vain as I would not be paying the bill and I was sans a wallet. I was a victim of an armed robbery earlier in the day; a comrade had mistook me for something I am not and left me penniless for the night.
Early on, I noticed Sara’s coexist tattoo along each respective knuckle of her right hand. I wish she could have seen the comingle tattoo I had for her on my heart. I will be returning. Don’t worry Sara. My heart and my wallet will be full.

What a different experience than usual. They changed items on their menu, and not for the better. Ordered fish and chips. The fries were soggy, not crisp like they normally are. Fish was over-cooked. Ordered calamari, they changed the calamari. It used to come with an aioli sauce on the side, which was good. Now they drizzle the calamari with aioli sauce and another type of sauce. Not good at all. I mentioned to the waitress three different times that I did not like it and was ignored. Another family member ordered a salad that she didn’t like, ate at least half of it and told the waitress she didn’t like it and was given a free salad of her choice. Another family member was served a salad that had no salad dressing on it. They finally brought her the salad dressing. Another family member broke a glass of wine and was given a free glass of wine. But yet I was given no compensation for the terrible calamari I was served. And it was my birthday lunch, yet everyone else was compensated except me. I didn’t complain about the bad fish and chips. I have had the fish and chips and the calamari several times before and it was always good. Not this time. Also one of the salads on the menu has been changed to a totally different salad but has the same name on the menu. There are a few other items on the menu that have been changed so be sure to ask before ordering. So after spending $34 on myself for my birthday lunch and being disappointed, I won’t be back. Not sure why everyone else was compensated except me. Happy birthday to me I guess.

We flew to WA to visit a friend, she wanted to treat us to lunch and chose Beaches.
We ate on the deck overlooking the Columbia River which was nice, but if you choose to sit on the deck, be aware that the restaurant is in the flight plan for the airport and it can make talking a little difficult when the planes fly over (which is often!). And, if the Air National Guard is also flying that day, it is worse!!
Our friend and I ordered the crab melt which was very good and more than we could eat! My husband had soup which he said was also very good. Our waiter was friendly, efficient, and attentive. He even memorized our names. Food and service were both good.
Besides being in the flight plan, there was another negative. I went to the restroom and there was a strong foul odor all the way down the hallway to the restroom and also inside. I don't know if it always that way. The restaurant itself looks a little run down but the outside deck was nice.
The food and eating on the deck was nice (except for the planes) but I don't think I would go there again.

Fantastic! One really good sign of a fun restaurant is the attitude of the staff. Everyone genuinely seemed to like each other and enjoyed working there.
The food was great - we enjoyed 3 separate entrees and it was difficult to decide which was our favorite. Ribs were tasty and the service was excellent. Plus, the views riverside are just amazing.
We mentioned there was a birthday in our group and our server brought over a custom sign with the birthday girls name on it, signed by the staff. A very nice touch!
Overall we had a great time and we’ll definitely be back.

We decided to have lunch here on Friday. We each had the fish and chips. The food was good but I was very disappointed to see the condiments were served in those little fast food plastic containers. With the emphasis on cutting down on plastic pollution, I’d think a restaurant this expensive would have more consideration for our environment. I found their menu was too high priced, esp. for lunch, and I’d have more seafood choices elsewhere.

Had a late lunch here. Service was slow. We were seated in the bar and the server was far more interested in chatting with her friends than servicing her tables. Food was mixed. Had the Brussels sprouts and cauliflower. It was undercooked to the point where I needed a knife to try to cut through it. The salad was way overdressed, dripping in dressing. It had potential. Partner's salad was also too heavy on the dressing.

I had the house cioppino and a Caeser salad and both were excellent. The cioppino is abundant with a variety of seafood and even includes sausage, potatoes, and corn which adds both texture and contrast to the seafood. One of the best cioppinos I have ever had! The views of the Columbia River from the deck are outstanding and my service was also outstanding (Jeremy). I highly recommend this restauarant.

Best pizza anywhere. I was surprised to find such good pizza in a restaurant that is not devoted primarily to pizza. In addition, my wife had Ahi Tuna and it was about the best she has ever had. The restaurant was very safety minded regarding cautions for CoVID and eating on the patio in 79 degree weather on the river, with a mild breeze was about as good as it gets. We met Chef Mike, who is not only a great chef, but a very funny man, and very modest. It was enjoyable to visit with him. The manager brought him to our table when we raved about the meal. Our server was Andrew. He was great. Very attentive and very pleasant. I have read reviews mentioning parking. Best bet is to park down the street where there is a ton of street parking and the walk is useful after a meal although a walk along the river is also a nice after dinner treat.

Beaches hosted a small 65th high school class reunion for us, and it couldn't have been more well-done. The food, particularly the beef medallions, the salmon, and the warm pluot cobbler, was scrumptious. Ali and Marilyn did yeoman service in preparing and presenting. Five stars!!!!!

recommended by our hotel staff. i will say the salmon was the best ever. hard to make a piece of fish crispy on the outside yet not over or undercooked on the inside. but they did it.
the salmon comes with veggies that are just great and fit with the salmon. for dessert we had the key line pie and the bananas foster. both are excellent. if i had to choose i'd go with the bananas foster, but you won't be sorry if you get the key lime pie.

Back in the 1990s, an Islands opened up not too far from where we lived. It was a Hawaiian-themed eatery with burgers and drinks, and we enjoyed it for a couple of decades before it closed. I hadn’t thought about the place for years until I walked into Beaches, which instantly felt like a knock-off. This isn’t a criticism, but it did tell me from the start what king of experience we were getting.
We chose the Vancouver location because of the fantastic view it offered of the Columbia River. This we got; what we didn’t expect was the brisk wind which meant we had to figure out how to prevent our menus and napkins from blowing away. We ordered drinks and their “Sprouts & Flowers” appetizer, which was pretty tasty. This we followed with entrees; I went with their Tuscan pizza, which was fine except for the fact that my server forgot to add the prosciutto I requested as an addition.
It wasn’t a big deal, but it was representative of our overall experience. The view is enjoyable and the food is decent, but the overall experience is pretty basic. It’s not worth going out of your way to visit, but if you’re in the area and looking for a place to eat it will probably satisfy your needs.

Unfortunately Covid has taken a toll on this long-standing business. We had been fans and patrons for years, but that has changed now. Not because of the location (nice as always), not because of the service (also, Nice as always) - but put simply - because of the food. It was surprisingly awful, and a long hawl from the better recipes from the original days. We get that menus have to change with the times, what we don't get by is that they would change in such a way that the food became almost inedible.
Today the pork shanks were deep fried vastly too long, and extremely dry. Result was awful.
My kale salad had TONS of thick woody kale stems. The loaf of warm bread was an unchewble brick. Even soaking pieces of it in my soup barely helped.
The time before was just as bad, with ribs that were hours away from being tender servable meat. And the original BBQ sauce that was special there is long gone, replaced with a sad version of itself.
Their wonderful red fish chowder went away, and was replaced with a pricey and spicy soup. Today that soup costs 50$. No longer affordable.
I don't want to make an exhaustive list, but go try it yourself. The wonderful, tasty and affordable food from before is gone now, sadly.
