The menu has expanded and flavor is now center stage at Farrar's (compared to first couple of years of operation) so it is now a favorite.
Both take-out and in place dining are available; can vary inside/outside with heater, dependent on state pandemic situation.
food is currently (2021) well priced with most expensive beef at $28. Organic food reflective in the full flavored dishes; one to three changing weekly.

Stopped by to have dinner at 5pm, they were packed and we were told 45 minute wait. We had called around 2pm and they suggested we call before going which we should have. End result was they got us in in 10 minutes, Ashlyn provided excellent service and we had a wonderful dinner. My wife had a delicious chicken dinner special and I had half order of their house meatloaf, both were excellent. The dessert thought was fantastic homemade berry pie (in small cast iron pan) ala mode. We would highly recommend Farrar's Bistro, we will return next time we stay in Salmon Creek (north of Vancover) for sure.

We hadn't been in a year or so, as my spouse is mostly vegetarian. But (a) Farrar's has several vegetarian choices now (albeit mostly appetizers), and (b) it was so, so good tonight:
1. Ashlyn has a great attitude as a server, and works hard, and did a fabulous job. We told her that the sky's the limit for her (she's young). I hope her manager continually rewards her.
2. I love love love the elk meatloaf. They subbed sweet potato fries instead of mashed potatoes, and those were great. The daily veggie was whole pea pods, which altogether made a fantastic dish. Before that, I had the fried brussels/c'flower, which was fantastic. And on Wed night, wine bottles are half price!
3. Spouse had wedge salad and scallops, which were amazing as was the polenta under them.
Farrar's failed in trying to open a 2nd place, a few years ago (we tried it and it was awful), but this original Farrar's continues to be a truly wonderful restaurant! So glad we live fairly near.

I had high hopes for this restaurant. But it just seemed that these people couldn't pull off a simple cheeseburger. Or pretty much anything else.
The wedge salad I received was run of the mill. The fish taco with served hot and Soggy. The meatloaf was a dry chewy hockey puck Laden with a bucket of salt. This was Served with what they claim to be a demi-glace. It was really just beef bouillon, water and a ton of cornstarch. Simply hideous.
What really irked me was the fact that they couldn't get a cheeseburger, correct. I asked for it to be served hot off the grill. It arrived tepid to the point. The cheese couldn't even melt. I got the idea that the Patty was already. Pre-cooked and they just slapped a piece of cheese on it. Needless to say I sent most of all this crap back.
There was a shining bit of glory and the only reason they get the extra star. The salmon Bowl They service rather tasty.
I had to think I'm an extra star because this whole thing cost me three times what it should have. For the quality of the food I was receiving.

First visit for us. We settled in the bar at a high table. Old walls bare wood. Three TVs, muted, showing 3 different sports. 70's and 80's music, at a talkable volume, filled in the edges and covered our voices from intruding on the others'.
We had cosmopolitans and deviled eggs to start. Then meatloaf and mac'n'cheese. The meatloaf had a thrilling gaminess taste from the elk(?) that was in the meat mix. The mac'n'cheese was simple. Big elbows with browned cheese on top. I didn't order any protein with the mac (chicken, brisket, meatloaf were offered) as I knew I would be able to snag some meatloaf off my partner's plate and.... WHAT A GREAT COMBO!
Friendly service.
Pay at the table convenience.
Easy parking.
We'll be back.

Although we have lived in the area for a long time, this was our first visit to Farrar’s. We had just come from the Mt. Tabor Brewpub after their lazy staff refused to seat us.
No such problem here. The service was prompt and friendly. I had the brisket, and it was quite good. Prices are on the high side, but no more so than the aforementioned craphouse.
My only complaint is the lighting. It was once an Oddfellows hall and is still lit like a barn for some reason.
We’ll be back, maybe during daylight hours.
I also want to add GOOD FOR THEM for not allowing dogs. Who needs that nonsense?

The meatloaf was wonderful! A huge dish accompanied by mashed potatoes and a vegetable! The four berry cobbler (more of a crumble) was yummy! Beyond stuffed after that!

3 of us had dinner here on a Friday night. Got here early, about 5:30p.m.; not too busy when we arrived but full by 6:15p.m. Pleasant atmosphere & easy to have a conversation, even when the place was full; loved that. Service was very nice (thanks, Emma!) Because we were there early, we were able to order off the Happy Hour menu which saved a few bucks. Nice & varied choices. Between us, we had the steak bites (excellent: juicy & tender), flatbread & fish tacos. We also started with an order of fires & liked them so much we had a second order! The real surprise of the evening was dessert: Tiramisu which was simply outstanding! We'll be back ... betweeen the food, service & the ambiance, you couldn't ask for more.

We had dinner here with friends from out of town. Each one of us had something different and everyone was very pleased with their choice! Our server was extraordinary and could not have been better or more pleasant! They do advertise that their food is made from scratch, but that is not quite true. We presented them with an allergy dilemma and many of their menu items were excluded for this person because the food was already prepped with the allergens in them. But, we had great food and a great time and will probably come back!

No longer dog friendly outside at their casual patio. It’s sad, because they can get a review to allow dogs outside, but obviously choose not to. So many states that have that outdoor lifestyle allow it. No wonder so many states are non-active & off the charts for obesity. Looks like this restaurant is no different.
The food... it’s fine, if you are wondering. A few vegetarian options. They use to have a really good stuffed red pepper, but it’s gone. ☹️

Farrar’s is a great little Bistro off the beaten path. Locals will find it a great place to stop for some tasty food and beverage. I had the Chicken Pot Pie which WS very tasty and big enough to share if you don’t have a big appetite.
