It's difficult to find a bbq place open in Ft. Smith on a Monday afternoon, so Jerry Neel's wasn't my first choice, but I would come back if I find myself back here. I had the brisket sandwich platter. The brisket is served sliced really...thin, like the pit beef sammies I get at home. I would have liked them to be a bit more generous with the meat. The Cole slaw and beans were tasty, and they have other sides available for a nominal up charge. It was a good filing lunch for 11 bucks.More
We went to Jerry Neels because it was the only BBQ in town that was open and close by us. We did arrive a little past 8 they close at 830 studied the menu and then chose The smoked turkey first the meat was deli...sliced so thin you could not even taste the meat the sauce had a strange flavor and just couldn’t get behind it. The sides where OK but it was Cole slaw and bbq beans not much to screw up there the wait staff was super nice even though it was late so it’s the food that was the bummer. The staff tries to make up for the poor quality of the food. Hope this saves someone a little money because a McRip would be the same on the same level.More
Haven’t been there for about a year. It was bad then and still is. Ribs were very dry and hard. We ordered on the Watir app. So soggy fries are to be expected. Don’t think these were ever crispy. The baked beans was just about...the only thing edible. Much better options in the area for bbq.More
As a former employee at the Rogers Avenue location back in 1983 I loved the food that we served. I recently visited the location on Phoenix Avenue (I guess this is the lone survivor) just to see if it was any good.
I have two...words to describe the visit.
Needless to say I should have listened to my companion and saved the cash and the 20 minute wait time for my overdone fried okra.
Whole Hog does BBQ proud. It might be a chain but their chopped or pulled pork stands on it's own merits and does not need to be hidden by a mediocre sauce.More
