The Kingston curry was hands down the best curry I’ve ever had. The mermaid mule was also good! Appetizers we had were the tuna tower and firecracker shrimp, both were delicious. 15/10 must go.

This is a great place in Sandfly - creative dishes, mostly seafood oriented - all delicious. They are lucky to have a big open patio so social distancing is easy and they still get lots of seating. Great place, good is terrific and service is...always good. 👍😎More

I first visited Castaways nearly 2 years ago when I first moved to Savannah. Since then I have returned many times. I find the food and service excellent. I really enjoy sitting outdoors, My usual choices are fish tacos, fish sandwich, the crab cake appetizer...and the shrimp, Enjoy.More

There were four of us and we all ordered different entrees. Absolutely delicious. We had the Tuna Tower and Calamari appetizers OMG so good. We are going back today and ordering take out. Servers were polite as was the bartender.. The restaurant itself was clean...and inviting. We will be going back A LOT.More

We walked up to the place and it and smelled like trash so we decided to eat inside. We ordered the firecracker shrimp for an appetizer, tuna tacos, and the mahi risotto for our entrees. When the firecracker shrimp arrived it had a funky smell...but we decided to try it in spite of the aroma. I’m sorry to say it tasted like what the garbage smells like. So we canceled our meals and wanted to close out and leave when our waiter informed us that we would have to pay for everything even the stuff that didn’t touch the table because the chef said so. When we asked to speak with a manager we were told there was no supervisors to speak with so we were out $50 without eating. We came in high hopes and were sadly disappointed. I’ve worked in the restaurant industry for five years and have never seen or heard of this happening to anyone. ***Update*** Got in contact with management Kirk Blaine (who was apparently there the night we ate there) who informed me that he would do nothing about the situation. He said that it was our fault for not enjoying the food that made us both nauseous. Safe to say that the customer service here is lacking and we will not be returning.More

We wanted to go out to dinner on a hot Thursday night and headed to Sandfly. I had planned on going to the Driftaway Café but decided at the last minute to try Castaways. It was OK but not nearly as good as I had...hoped. We were seated promptly although they were busy when we arrived around 7:00 p.m. Our server appeared immediately and brought our drinks. Although there were a number of specials available I opted for a fried shrimp platter that sounded good, and even better when our server said I could order the shrimp grilled. My husband ordered fish and chips. Both of our entrees came with cole slaw that we found it to be inedible. It was seasoned with horseradish, which isn’t a bad idea, but the horseradish was used to excess. It was unpleasantly spicy, to the point where I was wondering if someone in the kitchen dumped in twice the amount they should’ve used. The rest of my entree was alright. The shrimp were tasty, but the Island Rice didn’t taste any different than a Mahatma rice mix from the grocery store. Nothing exciting. My husband said his fried fish meal was great but the chips were overly salty. Again, all in all an OK night out but nothing to write home about. I expected that our server would’ve asked why we left the cole slaw on our plates but he did not. We decided to get a piece of Key Lime Pie to go that we could split once we got home. What a disappointment! It wasn’t good at all. It was hard to tell that any lime juice was used in it and overall it was tasteless. Instead of the tart creaminess that I expected it was just sickeningly sweet and tasted only of condensed milk. At $7.00 a slice it was a complete waste of money. I really don’t have any desire to give this place a second chance.More

Since I have a July birthday my choice for lunch in my birthday group is a summer favorite Castaways. The tuna tower with wonton wrappers with diced raw tuna avocado and mango is an absolute favorite dish. Looking around the lunch crowd I saw it...was with others as well. Only wish the soft shell crab sandwich was in season and on the menu.More
