We had lunch here on a weekday. The dining space is architecturally beautiful. The waitstaff, who seemed as if they were all students at SCAD, were all friendly. I had the Asian marinate salmon, which was perfectly cooked. The side ingredients were fresh and their flavors distinct. Chris had the fig, prosciutto and goat cheese sandwich, we he reported was excellent.... More

Do not be put off by the "tea room" in the title of this little restaurant. They have great food. I had the best sausage gravy and biscuits, tons of sausage - peppery and huge southern biscuits. Our server, Laura, was efficient and attentive with just the right personal touch. The atmosphere is relaxing and conducive to a quiet conversation... More

We stopped for a late lunch/early dinner- slow time of year so we initially had the place to ourselves. Service was great, food delicious and promptly delivered, along with a pot of tea for two. We had the crab chowder, which was very flavorful, and the chicken salad which was exactly what we wanted. The restaurant is very comfortable, with... More

The restaurant is owned by Savannah College of Art & Design and the students work as servers. My wife had the high tea, tea with finger sandwiches, a scone, fruit and pastries. I had the eggs Benedict with tomatoes, bacon and a lite salad.

We stopped by here on a whim while walking through town, and we were lucky to get a table. Reservations are very important as I saw several turned away as they got into their busy lunch hours. SCAD students are your waiters, and they give you a history of the building. It's own by Scottish Free Masons who still have... More

This is a great example of Savannah's passion for restoration. Gryphon used to be a pharmacy and many of the elements of shelves, cabinets and lights have been preserved. There's even a Tiffany glass portion of the ceiling. The light lunch was nicely prepared and presented. Quiche was excellent. We had to wait a bit for a large table but... More

This is the third time I have eaten at Gryphon Tea Room. Run by the SCAD students, the atmosphere is charming with mahogany bookshelves from the 1920's RX that was in that location. The food is very good. I had one of their special drinks and a wonderful sandwich...oh yes, I also had the delicious cobbler with ice cream which... More

The salad I had was excellent and the warm goat cheese was a great touch. I had the pomegranate lemonade as well and it was also great.

The Gryphon had been renovated since I had been there years before. It has been beautifully redone by Savannah College of Art and Design. The food was innovative, attractively plated and served professionally and delicious. The dining room was open and airy, but the acoustics were such that conversation was comfortable.
