My son and I recently visited Savannah on a "Foodie Trip" from Florida. WOW! we were both so happy we had breakfast at this restaurant! I had been to the Huey's in Atlanta as well as Cafe Du Monde in New Orleans so I was excited to have a good cup of french roast and some beignets on a cold and rainy morning and have my son experience his first taste of beignets. The service was great as we arrived early and got a perfect table at the window although it was a bit cold the waitress was gracious and turned the fan off. The beignets were perfect and we had them with the pecan sauce recommended to us which made them more decadent than they already are - I highly recommend getting this on the side! Great coffee too! As the room filled up very fast and we were ready to order our real breakfasts-we waited for quite a while and it became very hectic but we were in no hurry so I highly recommend you get there early! The view is wonderful for the whole experience of the historic waterfront and original brick paved street. We will definitely place this high up on our GOTO list on our next visit!

As a party of 6 with no advance notice and looking to eat at 7;00 PM, we did not have high hopes. We phoned Huey's, who said that they could hold a table for 6 if we got there quickly. We ended up with a great river view table and enjoyed our friendly server Abby.
Everyone in our group really enjoyed their dish. Very large portion sizes. I especially liked the Salmon, but could only finish half of the portion. Spinach artichoke dip appetizer was nicely prepared and enjoyed by all. Sea bass with crab meat stuffing (server's recommendation) got a big thumbs up. Filet Mignon was especially enjoyed by our one Celiac/gluten allergy group member.
All-in-all very enjoyable.

Food was delicious, but the service ruined it for us and it wasn’t even that busy. Also the bread pudding tasted like it was frozen and thawed in a microwave. Otherwise the rest of the food and drinks were great! Unfortunately, I would not recommend this place simply for how poor the service was.

Got up early to go down on River St and have a nice breakfast at one of our favorite restaurants...Hueys. Got there a few minutes before 8 and when we entered the building we were told they didnt open until 8. We waited a few minutes until after 8 and entered the building again were told that they were short staffed and wouldn't be opening until 815. We went inside for the 3rd time at 818 and were told they still weren't open! I asked to speak to a manager. Nicole came out and I asked could we at least come inside and sit in the air conditioned building, maybe get some cold water. It was hot outside and the majority of the people standing in line had on mask. Her answer was "no we're short handed and we dont have anything to serve you at this time...we'll open in a few more minutes". At this point the line was down the street and your not offering you customers any refuge from the smoldering Savannah heat. My fiance asked Nicole what time would they be open and she just said a few more minutes. I told him let's go we're not eating here and she then rudely said "dont then...BYE BYE" I will never patronize this business again because they obviously don't know how treat their customers. They make a damn good seafood omelet and the beignets are delicious. In the world we live in today where a dollar is precious and not so easy to come by,I'd rather spend mine where it's appreciated. On a scale of 1 to 10 they get a 0 for customer service. If customer service is important to you, DONT EAT HERE! The food isn't cheap by the way so customer service is just as important as the food to me.The service can make or break the experience.

Service was horrible, appetizers and main course served at the same time. When I complained and asked to have the main course returned until ready they brought out the same meal which sat under a heating lamp. Had to ask for the salad and bread as the waiter forgot to bring that out as well. The food was substandard. The service was less than acceptable to say the least. The place is a typical tourist trap where you are not expected back so there was no need to do well. There are many great places to eat in town. This is NOT one of them.

I came in at 9:30 on a Friday night. I was sure to call ahead and double check that they closed at 11 as their hours stated. I sat at the bar solo and waited about 10 minutes to be served. Granted there was only one bartender, but she only had 10 guests. I ordered a cocktail and the French onion soup. Soup was great. She then told me at 10:27 the kitchen was closing in 4 minutes... at this point I went ahead and placed an order for the pasta jambalaya to go because I did not see the item that brought me here on the menu. Upon receiving my check I questioned the price to which she responded was the correct price. When I grabbed the menu she realized she had given me the LUNCH menu. She said it’s a smaller portion which I really wonder what that is because the portion I received was not worth $20. It also was missing the chicken that is supposed to be in the dish as listed on the menu and they gave me a nice corner piece of burnt cornbread. This is probably what I get for going to a tourist trap, but if you want decent food for the price of good food I would steer clear of this place. I also want to point out that 2 different groups of people came in around 10:30 and were told the restaurant was closed. If you are going to close at 10:30 then list your hours as closing at 10:30 not 11.

We have eaten at Huey;s for the last eight years on our Christmas visit to Savannah. We had a group with us this year, usually 2 people and 1 dawg, so the first choice was Huey's. We got there only to find that we could not order from the dinner menu as we had done for the last eight years. The reason was that a Server was out sick and that made it impossible. We decided to let the one person order vegetables as an entree because we were already at the Restaurant. There was a long wait,,,because a Server was out sick. We gave our name and said we wanted to sit outside because we have a dawg. We were told that was impossible ... because a Server was out sick.
Whoever the Server is, they should ask for a raise.
Just glad the other Restaurant we went to did not have a Server out sick that caused problems. They told me that they had two Servers out, but they could handle the situation.

Apparently this place doesn't need to worry about repeat business. We Waited over an hour and 1/2 for a table. We both ordered Eggs Benedict with potatoes and a side of parmesan grits to try. Orders were inconsistent. My eggs were cooked perfectly. My husbands were over done. The dish must have been ready for awhile because the eggs were barely warm and the English muffin was chewy.
After taking a bite - our potatoes were stone cold. 2nd bite I decided to ask the waitress if we could get some hot potatoes. She had me scoop my potatoes onto a saucer (ketchup and all) asked my husband to scoop his onto the same plate so she could heat them up in the microwave. Brought the same saucer back. Gross! How much does it cost to redo the potatoes or at least give us a separate dish? The grits were over salted, and for $4 It was not worth it at all.
She said I'll give you a free order of beignets for the bother. Please just give me hot potatoes!!! We heard another waitress say the same thing. Must be a fix-it for all problems. Dear Management - this isn't what patrons are interested in.
We were too shocked to complain and didn't want to mess with her because it was obvious she wasn't in the mood to be accommodating. Not in a hurry to go back.

I have to say I was highly disappointed . I have had some bad service but this by far was the worst . We literally waited 50 min for our food once it was ordered . To the point the busser came by and started bussing our table when we had not even been served yet . Our waitress never came by and asked if we wanted refills on our drinks never apologized for the delay . She actually voided eye contact . Obviously they were under staffed but it was beyond ridiculous. The food was not over the top it was fine . I had been there many years ago and remembered it was so good . A very disappointing experience .

My hubs and I were the only ones in the early hours. The coffee was good as were the beignets. My husband loved the shrimp and grits but they were just a little salty for me since I eat low sodium. The waitress was friendly and I would return for dinner or lunch.

I ate lunch here. Initially was planning to eat at Tubby’s but they were either closed or had a secret entrance I cannot find. To get immediate seating I ate at the bar. They had the space marked off for social distancing, and I was able to get a seat for one there. The bartender was nice ( I did not get her name) and made good recommendations for the food (I only drank water). I order the fried shrimp and oysters. They were very good ( and I could have had more). They were lightly fried and had great taste. My side was red beans and rice, which was good (not great). The restaurant bills itself as a New Orleans style restaurant, though I must confess it doesn’t quite match the food I have had in New Orleans. But it was still good. The beignets were okay.
One of the very nice things I noticed was that when a couple of people left the bar and the next couple of people were planning to be seated, the bartender told them to wait, while she came around to clean and sanitize the area. It was good to see that she/they were sensitive to the pandemic going on. They wore masks also.

I really wanted to like Huey's since 2 co-workers had recommended it. The food was good, but the service was really lacking. I suspected it wasn't going to be great when I ordered a screwdriver, but our waiter didn't know what kind of drink that was (vodka and OJ). He didn't know the menu (my son's order came with a side salad which we never got). He rarely checked on us and seemed put out when we ordered their famous beignets for dessert. He never brought the coffee my husband ordered. The rest of the staff seemed jaded as well. They reset the table next to us 3 times for various size groups and each time flung the chairs across the doorway so they landed hard on the slate floor next to our table. Our waiter tried to apologize at the end about his lack of service, but it was only a half hearted attempt to salvage his tip. We ordered plenty of food and drinks to make it worth his while, but they were mainly focused on the large groups of 8 and 16 that were seated after us. Not worth the $$ in my opinion.

Whenever my wife and I come to Savannah, we make it a point to eat at Huey's. A few years ago, I brought my son and daughter-in-law here as well and they really enjoyed the experience. The food is generally excellent. My wife likes their fried oysters and bloody Marys. I like their their crawfish etoufee and red beans and rice. But for our recent experience, I would have rated Huey's "excellent." We stayed three nights in Savannah and ate lunch at Huey's twice. We tried to eat dinner there, but the "hostess" (if that title is even appropriate in her case) had the, "Why are you bothering me when I'm doing my job?" attitude and was, shall we say, less than helpful. Our server the first lunch was nice, but things went rather slowly; like, people who sat down after we ordered ate their meals, paid their checks, and left before our food came. Our server the second lunch was excellent and we didn't have to deal with that hostess who was too bothered to do her job. and, instead, dealt with a host who cared about customer. The food for both lunches was excellent and we were able to obtain out side seating. My wife supervises over 50 employees, so our suggestion to management is to pay more attention to how your front line staff is treating your customers.

My family and I waited for 1 hour and 20 minutes to be seated. That was fine because we expected it; however, we were not seated together (we had 9 people). We then waited another hour for food. The family members at the other table got their food, but the rest of the food did not arrive until 15 minutes later. We had the same server who put the entire order in at the same time. When we did get our food, only two of us truly enjoyed it. The worst part was they added group gratuity and we didn’t even get to sit together.
In fairness, our server was nice and gave us free beignets.

Huey’s was a bit hit or miss on the food. The service was excellent. The French onion soup was probably the best thing I had that evening. The cesar salad seemed almost like it came out of a bag. The scallops were over seasoned and almost inedible they were so salty. the desserts were good, but average. I would not return for dinner.
