My husband and I stopped by Maiwand Grill for lunch this past Sunday when we were walking around Baltimore, and I'd happily repeat the meal. Maiwand Grill is a casual restaurant serving Afghan food. You order at the counter, and, as of August 2020, they're...offering to go or dine in (they may offer delivery but I'm not sure). We started with pumpkin kadu (pan-fried then baked baby pumpkin, seasoned with sugar, served with yogurt, and topped with ground beef sauce) and aushak (ravioli filled with scallions, served with mint and garlic yogurt sauce, and topped with ground beef). The kadu was DELICIOUS. As much as I enjoyed the rest of the meal, the kadu was the highlight - amazing. I also enjoyed the aushak - very oniony - the scallion isn't diced too fine and you TASTE the scallions. We also shared an order of chicken seekh kabob (kabob of ground chicken with cheese and seasoning, served with bread, rice, salad, and cilantro yogurt sauce), which was delicious, and an order of their falafel salad bowl (the falafel was great - crispy on the outside and soft on the inside). All the food was delicious, and the service was great as well. This is a meal I'd happily repeat if I was near Maiwand Grill again anytime soon!More

I came here with friends for a quick lunch while on break during a meeting, and it was so good we almost missed the rest of our meeting. The potato samosas and the falafel were absolutely delicious, as were the lamb wrap and the chicken...curry. We all ended up sharing our meals so we could try everything. The waiter was super friendly and didn't rush us out. The vibe is laidback and welcoming.More

A group of about 15 called ahead and they brought out such amazing appetizers (I think we tried them all) from eggplant to pumpkin. Baba ganoug to a scallion 'ravioli', pitas and sauces, tea, entrees (shrimp, lamb and chicken kabobs, lamb chops and more). We...then tried the vanilla cardamom ice cream with dates and cashews I believe. It was amazing! They were so friendly and helpful and all was delicious! Highly recommend.More

Every meal I have had has been a hit. Good serving size. The clocks on the wall had stopped working last year. The management needs to fix the clocks as it gives a mis managed establishment. No free wifi. Have to use the one from...Starbucks.More

First time to visit Baltimore and found this place on line. Excellent choice! Food is very flavorful, service was super polite and quick. My wife and I shared a dish and an appetizer. Plenty of food. We ate a late lunch at 1:30 on a...football game day afternoon. So it was pretty empty and we were the only customers by 2:30. Really enjoyed it!More

Ate here twice during my Baltimore trip. The spices and flavors are spot on. The chicken is tender, flavorful and to die for.

For a while, I have seen the medical folks from the hospital down the street from my office patronize this restaurant. This place is popular with them. I figured that if doctors and nurses trust this place the food has to be at least safe...if not really good. The icing on the cake was watching a driver of a city bus sprint from his bus to pick up lunch at this place and sprint back to finish his route. So, I decided to try this place for lunch. I never had Afghan food before so I didn't know what to expect. They have a special for every day and the food is very reasonably priced. I went there on Friday and the special was Lamb Curry with Potatoes. I am not a fan of very spicy food so I asked the man at the counter if this dish was spicy and he told it was mild. I was quite worried when I was served this dish in a bowl and found jalapeno peppers swimming around with the lamb and potatoes. He told me to try it and I did. There was a little bit to it but very flavorful. It came with rice, green salad, and bread. All of it delicious. Given how reasonably price the meals are I will become a regular. The restaurant is comfortable, and they offer the usual soft drinks and two types of teas. I chose the Green Tea with Honey. I didn't have time for the desserts but they all look good. They also offer a strawberry and banana milkshake. I will try it next time. If you are in Downtown Baltimore, maybe at the Royal Farms Arena or the Hippodrome this is a great food stop. Both attractions are only a block or two away.More

We arrived at about 6:50pm to this counter service restaurant and did not receive our food until 50+ min later. Although there was no one ahead of us in line, it took the person working at the register at least 8 min. to take our...order because she was busy assembling to-go orders (this seems like a staffing issue). Then we ordered and paid for our food and waited, waited, waited.... When we noticed that everyone that had been around us when we arrived had eaten and left, my husband went to the counter to inquire about our order. It was then apparent that they had missed/forgotten about our order. They quickly brought us out some free appetizers to eat while we waited for them to make our order. We finally received our entrees after 7:40pm. We had tickets for an 8pm show at the Hippodrome, so we quickly gobbled down some of our food and then had to leave. We thought the food was delicious, but the slow service and then having to rush to eat made it less enjoyable.More

hummus was served in a 1/4 or 1/2 cup size clear plastic tupper ware, hummus was average, not bad. mantu: a blend of spicy and yoghurt like tart “sauce”, lentils and 3 pieces of beef “dumplings”. i didnt care for the spicy tart sauce but...the dumplings were pretty good. the entrees include 1 delicious warm soft naan, a small side of long grain brown basmati rice mixed with cinnamon? cardamom? and raisins, i loved it! also came with a side of your typical boring mediterranean “salad & dressing” ie lettuce, tomatoes etc, a 1/4 grilled tomato. tandoori chicken kabob: it is the most juicy and most tender chicken ever. were told it wasnt spicy but to me it was tongue burning spicy. but it was sooooo tender! kofta kabob, you get 2 short thick stubby skewers of ground beef. average, goodMore

Along the restaurant side there is a road where one could park the vehicles.
