I came here for a drink after arriving in the city. Since it was in an historic old hotel, I thought the bar would be a good choice. Nice atmosphere, generous pour of the wine that I chose, and this fabulous baked brie plate.

After attending the BSO, my wife and I stopped by for a drink. The bar is rather unusual looking, with (pretend?) stuffed animals, and some stained glass. The place (at 10:15pm) was pretty full. My wife and I each had the owl expresso martini. We...could taste the liquor and the coffee flavoring. It was a good, but not great, drink. At $14 each, I thought it was a little overpriced.More

Coming out of the Symphony at 11:30 there are limited choices around the Myerhoff so our party of five walked a few blocks in Mid Town Baltimore to the venerable old Belvedere Hotel and its world famous owl bar. I had not been there in.... while and it has been nicely fixed p retaining all its old time mid century charm. No cigarette smoke made it that much more appealing. Lots of local beers on tap. Chardonnay and a Pinot Grigio (no Reisling however) Wonderful wild mushroom pizza and an OK charcuteries/cheese board were just what the doctor ordered for our hungry party. Total bill $ 100. Left at 01:30 happy and sated. A good choice for a late snack after a show at the Lyric Opera House or the Myerhoff in Baltimore.More

Went here for dinner in a party of 6 with a reservation. Arrived on time to then sit at the hostess stand for 10 minutes with no one there. My daughter went into the bar and found our table. We sat down and waited 10...minutes before our waitress showed up. We ordered chicken wings for appetizers which came promptly and were ok, but our waitress didn't bring us silverware and napkins and was nowhere to be found. We got the food runner to get us the utensils. Our waitress finally showed up and we ordered main courses. The two pizzas showed up ( soggy crusts, not crisp) a cuban sandwich, mac and cheese, fish and chips but not the beef short ribs. The food was delivered by the food runner and again our waitress was missing. Someone wanted salt but couldn,t find our server so he went to the bar to take a salt shaker back to the table. After another 10 minutes, we asked the food runner where the short ribs were and he said he would check (still no waitress) . About 5 minutes later our waitress came back to inform us that the short ribs weren't ordered because of their antiquated ordering system, but she would re-order them. About ten minutes later the ribs showed up but were actually cold. After looking for the waitress (again missing in action) the manager did show up and i informed him of the problem, of which he offered to get me something else, but everyone was done with their meals. He then said they wouldn't charge us for the short ribs (which is like saying you ordered it, we screwed up, but you won't be charged),thanks for nothing. To add insult to injury, the bill comes and a mandatory 20% is added to the bill for the worst service I have ever encountered at a restaurant. We were going to complain again, but after two hours, and our waitress and the manager were missing again we paid and left . The Owl Bar has been a Baltimore institution for a long time, and I guess for a beer and wings it would be ok, but in a city with many good food options you can do a whole lot better in food quality and surely better service. I would give it a rating of 0 if that was possible on Trip Advisor.More

Stopped in for drinks, so we can’t really comment on the food. Drinks are terrific. I had a seasonal pumpkin old fashioned. It came with spiders frozen in the ice cube, since we were there the day after their Halloween party. Lots of fun. There...will be blood cocktail came with vampire teeth floating in the drink. Wait staff was awesome. Worth the visit.More

Was at a wedding last week in downtown Baltimore for my niece. The wedding party stopped at the owl bar for a few drinks and some really nice h'ors d'oeuvres. Bar food we ordered was very nice, pizza, crab dip, veggies, . . . ....The place also took their Halloween decorations seriously and all the other guest were having a great time. Beers were reasonably priced ~8$ and had a variety of styles and breweries (I think). Nice fun place!!More

We meet 11 friends at the Bar. We had an alcove which was the only thing good besides the friends. Very limited menu, food was average or below and wait staff kept disapearing. Definetly not impressed.

We stopped in for a drink just prior to a wedding at the hotel. The building is historic and the bar has a great vibe and energy. Didn't try any food, just drinks. The atmosphere is superb.

My husband and I came across this place by walking to our concert at the Meyerhoff. The Old Fashioned Belvedere sign caught my eye and I wanted to check out the inside. I am so happy we did! We noticed others walking to the back...of the lobby and there it was - The Owl Bar! The place was packed. People eating at tables and drinking at the bar. Luckily, two people were leaving and my husband and I were able to score seats at the bar. The music was a great mix of the 80’s and there was a very cool hipster crowd that night. Great for people watching. I enjoyed watching the bartenders creating their drinks - they sure were busy that night. This spot was a gem and a very nice surprise to our evening walk. I would recommend this bar.More

The maryland crab soup is incredible and should be its own food group. We were here just before Halloween and the decorations were amazing. Actually the bar would be worth a visit any time of year. We will be back, many times.

Our concierge at the Inner Harbour Hotel we were staying, recommended a visit to the Belvedere & the Owl Bar. Getting there was easy, catching the free Purple Bus outside the ‘Gallery’. The Belvedere was once a high class hotel, looking quite French Provincial from...the outside...upstairs, it is now leased & condos. On the ground floor there are around three large function/ballrooms which are gorgeous. Down a small corridor filled with photos of famous people who have frequented the Owl Bar, we turned a corner to a medieval-feeling area & on into the bar. It was quite gorgeous & when we arrived around 11.30am on a Tuesday...quite empty. We enjoyed looking around in peace, taking some snaps, then enjoying a beer. Later we ordered a fantastic Brie & special ham pizza, cooked in a brick pizza over in one corner of the huge room. Then the room began to fill with lunch guests - clearly a popular establishment. The prices were very reasonable compared to Inner Harbour, and the quality was superb. The bathrooms off the main building foyer felt like 5 star luxury with stunning fixtures & fittings. Overall we felt we were walking in the steps of famous people in history...overlooked by the two main Owls, with glowing eyes. Definitely worth visiting, just up from the Peabody Library & Washington monument on the corner of Chase.More

This is such an awesome place located in the Belvedere. We came here for a wedding after party. It’s a really neat, old prohibition establishment. We enjoyed the pizza that night, very tasty. I left my purse on the back of my chair and didn’t...even realize it until the next morning. I drove over to see if it was there. Nicole I. was working and said she found it that night, had it locked away and gave it back with everything in it, driver’s license, money, etc. This really touched me and I hope management realizes what a special employee they have in this lovely young person. It’s hard to find such integrity in this day and age. I was impressed. Don’t miss this place – thank you so much.More

My daughter is getting married at the gorgeous Belvedere Hotel next winter. (Why in winter, daughter, winter in Baltimore, why???) so I've spent a lot of time at the Belvedere and substantial time getting to know my soon to be son in law at the...'hotel's' famous Owl Bar. This place is a Baltimore legend. It's the site for many wedding/engagement photo shoots as well as fashion shoots in the city because of its magnificent stained glass windows, use of reclaimed wood, genuinely awesome décor. We'll be having a pre-wedding party for the groomsmen here before the wedding (carefully supervised!), the place is so charming, clubby and private. It is open to the public, of course. The Belvedere was once Baltimore's premiere hotel before it renovated and became a condo building/event venue. The Owl Bar is just an added jewel to its amenities. I had several lunches and a dinner here with Jon. Their food is wonderful! As a Baltimore native, I loved their crab cakes and their inventive new ways with crab meat; try them! Their portions are hefty, so be prepared. This is not an inexpensive place, so be prepared, but you are well rewarded for your dollars. The best dish I had there, hand to God, was their biscuits and gravy! Since I now have the misfortune of living in southwestern Florida, I've become used to mediocre food, so dining anywhere in Baltimore was a pleasant surprise. Dining in a Bar was even more so. I'd rate their food a 4+, close to a 5. The biscuits and gravy I raved about? The real thing I've had in Charleston and Savannah, and oh so very good! It's the attention to dishes like that which gives you an appreciation for all of the food that they prepare. Go, take your time perusing the menu, enjoy a drink from their large beverage menu, chat up the bartender or your friendly waiter, and have a nice, long conversation over your meal. It will be a wonderful time!More

Nice old-fashioned feel with some modern touches. A lot of young adults were hanging out on a Sunday evening. We enjoyed amazing Korean BBQ wings and some nachos, along with some draft beers. Service was average - they seemed to have not enough employees for...the amount of people - but they were friendly! Overall glad we stopped in!More
