This venue came recommend by some locals. Although somewhat pricey, the food is excellent. There is something for anyone. It stays busy so recommend planning things out.

For my first trip back to Canton in 20 years, I decided to give Mama's a try. Nice window table upstairs and really good service. Decent crab cakes and clams casino. My favorite was probably the fried oyster app that were placed back on their shells and tacked on with a mayo based sauce. Interesting old Balto decor. Probably more... More

We have been to Mama's before, but this meal did not even come close to what we were expecting. The peel and eat shrimp had an iodine taste and most of them had veins. Unacceptable for the price. The crabcake did have some lumps, but there was a lot of 'mush' in the center that tasted of thousand island dressing,... More

My mother-in-law and I came here for a late lunch after an appointment in the area. We sat outside as it was a gorgeous day! Service was definitely slow, but we did get what we ordered. Food was okay, but really, the people watching paid off!

The seafood melt was scrumptious to say the least and the staff was extremely friendly making my experience here one to make me come back very soon. My colleague had the Oysters that were better than New Orleans. Seafood here is tastier. Enjoyed my trip here.

Read reviews and had to go. The are around there is quite nice also. We were stuffed from eating all day but went anyway and had appetizers only . I had Seafood chowder and Grilled Oysters done with smoked paprika on half and the other half in the butter herb sauce. Both were outstanding and my wife had the stuffed... More

This place was recommended by a family friend. You could also miss this corner location just a few blocks from the Harbour! So keep your eye out. If you love seafood, you'll never have to look for the best, You Just Found It! The menu selections are vast, and the freshness is as if the chef fishes that morning for... More

Cannot beat Mama's for a relaxing cocktail and great seafood appetizers. Sit outside and enjoy the weather and people watching or belly up to the bar for good conversation, food and drink!

Description
In 2003, we opened Mama's on the Half Shell. Our opening day was the realization of five years of dreaming, discussing and collecting. As native "Baltimoreans," we felt Baltimore lacked a real seafood restaurant. Because of our love for the restaurant business, our favorite pastime is to dine out, but we struggled to find the real taste of Baltimore seafood. We missed the classics, the ones that we could count on as kids, such as Connely's & Hausner's, the one we would visit with friends from out of town who say "take us to a real Baltimore seafood house." We missed that and wanted to bring it back. That's why we created Mama's on the Half Shell. Our menu is the most important part of our restaurant, but we also want our guests to come in and feel comfortable for any occasion: bringing in a client, Sunday football, a birthday, anniversary or just some time out. It's a great place to visit after a day on the water and it's also remembered by some as the place where they got engaged. Our restaurant is a place that you could "bring it or bring it down." There is really no average age at Mama's on the Half Shell which leads us to believe this truly is a Baltimore classic for food and celebration. For a good start to a classic Baltimore meal at Mama's, order a fried crab cake with mustard and our famous Orange Crush. Have a seat at the raw bar and just drift back into your best Baltimore memory, hon! It is our hope that when you are with us you feel you are welcomed into our home with open arms.
