Baltimore has some great spots for getting the local regional cuisine. Google: "Maryland Cuisine " or "Maryland State Foods"; you will see a lot of ways to cook Blue Crab, Oysters, Coddie National Bohemian Beer, Bergers Cookies and more but, just off I-95, in north Baltimore you can get good PIT BEEF, and Chaps does a good job at it..... Whatever you do come to this place absolutely ravenous. I say this because it would be an absolute sin to come here and not finish a massive pit beef sandwich. This place is a Baltimore classic and truly speaks for itself. This is one you need to experience for yourself

I'm so glad we don't have one of these here in York Pa.. because I would literally weigh over 500 lbs guaranteed. It's amazingly addictively good The meat is mouthwatering- very tender, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned. The portions are very generous and I normally like to grab an extra bun and take it home w me so I can make... More

Visiting Baltimore and a number of the locals said we can't go wrong at Chapps, plus we saw it on Tripple D. Pretty busy at lunch but we did not have to wait long. Had beef sandwiches and their mac and cheese. Portions were large and we only had to have a lite dinner that night . Would certainly stop... More

I checked out Chaps yesterday for lunch. I had the Pit Ham & Sausage Combo sandwich. Wow, it was good. Yes, it is a small place and sometimes has a line but it is worth the wait. Chaps is also in Aberdeen, MD, right off I- 95 @ Beard's Hill Shopping Plaza. Try Chaps for a great sandwich. Nice Owner... More

Skip breakfast or lunch if you are planning to come here. Bring your appetite! Don't let the long line discourage you from waiting to order one of their GIANTt sandwiches. The line moves fast. It's worth it! We got the pulled pork sandwich which was substantial and very flavorful. The BIG chicken wings came with a lot of fries. The... More

As like most folks we caught this restaurant on Diners Drive Inns and Dives. We Google mapped the location so we knew we were not in best part of town but we never felt Un safe. Service was very nice everyone greeted us with a smile. This place is tiny! It's nothing fancy and it's not white glove clean. (It... More

It shares a parking lot with a strip joint and an adult video store is across the street, but your're here for the food and not the location. We had the chip beef sandwich and it was good. First time we tried it and it was worth trying for the first time. I'm not sure we'll go out of our... More

Baltimore is blessed with the Pits. Pit beef joints, that is. Chaps is legendary. Or maybe "just" iconic. Arrived around 2:30on a Tuesday, line back to the door, order for the Richwich sub sandwich placed to eat on premise and was amazed at this combo: ham, turkey, beef and sausage crammed into a sub roll. No condiments necessary as the... More
