First experience at the Charles restaurant, twice in one week! Tried their Sunday brunch, it was bloody fantastic! Best bloody Mary I’ve ever had - The Louisiana. garnishes included celery stick, stick of bacon, shrimp, and a pickle, and the spices were amazing. The crab...Benedict, the waffle, the shrimp Louie, Brussel sprouts, lemon sorbet were delicious. Above all, our server Collin was such a sport for putting up with all of our questions to the menu. He was friendly, patient and took care Of all our dining needs. He went above and beyond to make Our dining experience enjoyable. I highly recommend and plan on coming back soon. The Charles is new and only opened October, 2018. Except for Sunday Brunch, they only opened for lunch on Dec. 4, 2018. Our Red Hat Chapter decided to do our Christmas Party at The Charles. We decided NOT to take their Party Room as there...was a charge for it. However, they prepared an area outside of the Party Room for us. They decorated the area by suspending presents, Christmas balls, and Candy Canes from the ceiling - very festive and quite clever. Our waiter was wonderful. He helped us carry more table decorations from our car and was very considerate in allowing us time to present awards, prizes, and other presentations before ordering. The one concern - and it was a BIG one - is that none of us found our food very good! Some people complained their sandwich bread tasted stale rather than lightly toasted. Some complained their Salmon was not completely cooked. One ordered Humus but it was so bland they had to request hot sauce. The French Fries looked limp and oil soaked and the Cole Slaw was in need of more favorable sauce. No refills of drinks was offered. However, the food came quickly. The Chicken Salad was good but served on the stale-tasting bread. The lettuce was from the very end of the head, which was unfortunate .More

This new gastropub in Federal Hill is starting out great. The place is casual and fun, but the menu is very creative and full of many good choices. The fresh fried pork rinds go perfectly with cocktails. The avocado tempura although a bit bready really...is quite tasty. The roast chicken is perfectly cooked and moist and served with light gnocchi. The scallops and grits are also tasty but the grits are soupy and runny and need more firmness to work. The Moroccan cauliflower is a huge cooked piece of vegetable with Middle Eastern spices and a good vegetarian choice. Service is friendly and helpful! Drinks are made exquisitely too. One drawback is the limited number of wines available (only like 8). But I am recommending this new venue in Federal Hill and will return for sure! And they also have a nice Happy Hour menu.More
