Visited here recently after not returning for a few years after Covid. Prices were high, pizza was average, service was average at best. Family was not greeted at the door just told to go back. We weren’t checked on as we should have been for...anything needed. Prices were high for 12” pizza even with all the toppings. We ordered appetizers and bruschetta was only one slice of bread with tomatoes on top for $9….usually appetizers are for 2 people at least to share. The meatballs we ordered were undercooked and appeared reddish/raw inside. The atmosphere was great, music nice, fire cozy especially in the winter. But our overall family opinion was that prices went up, service went down and portions could be a lot bigger especially for the price paid.More

Had not been since COVID but it is still outstanding. Had a burretta and pizza. But we're just as good as we remember. Service was very good.

What a disappointment!! My Granchio Bianche pizza came without artichokes and with only a tiny drop of crab. I mentioned it to the server and told him I wasn’t asking him to take it off the bill since I had already eaten quite a bit...of it. He went to speak to the manager and came back announcing that the manager wanted to apologize personally and was coming to speak to us. We waited quite a while and no one bothered to come. The waiter said he was having a meeting with his kitchen staff because it had apparently happened to other customers that night as well. They charged us for the lousy pizza (which tasted like soggy bread with cheese), and the manager was a no show. Altogether the experience left a lousy taste in my mouth, both literally and figuratively.More

i have been wanting to come here for over a year and finally was able to make it during restaurant week. i had made a reservation and the place was packed, and i was turned off immediately when the hostess said i could sit outside...or else endure a 20 minute wait. i told her i had a reservation and she replied "i am just the host". we called for the manager who assured us people upstairs were lingering and it wouldn't be more than 10 minutes. that was totally fine...all we needed was a better explanation! we ordered drinks at the bar while we waited, and they were fabulous cocktails. we were escorted to our table upstairs. as i said it was really crowded. our server didn't seem overwhelmed, but there were a few issues. we had each ordered the burrata and the meatballs, but instead were served 2 orders of burrata. the server apologized and brought out the meatballs shortly after. The burrata was delicous and the meatballs were good, just very tender that they were falling apart. we were really wanting the wine that we had ordered when we sat down and it was brought out halfway through our appetizers. we ordered the popular pesto pizza and a kale and proscutto pizza with garlic and tomato sauce. both pizzas were just okay for us. they were undenably made from scratch but the dough was rather thin and flimsy. you have to fold it or cut it to eat it. both styles were just okay for me. at this point we were full so we got the flourless cake and tiramisu to go. The manager did check in with us to ask how we were doing and we just said fine. i mean nothing was really majorly wrong, it just seemed like there were a bunch of little setbacks that didn't give me the great experience that i was hoping for. In conclusion, for pizza, this place is rather expensive. i think there are many other places to go in life and i'm not sure i would return to this one.More

We were three guys off a boat, who had just landed in Baltimore, staying at a local marina. I am the owner, and the boat will stay there for a few months. I had bought several pizza from Verde in 2018, the last time, before...the pandemic, when the boat was in Baltimore. I had to feed the crew, and this seemed to be a good idea. We were not fashionably dressed, are all over 65 (I am over 70), and definitely looked "scruffy". I would say that we looked "eccentric", but two of us are retired doctors and one is a retired senior Federal bureaucrat. We just wanted some alcohol and a good pizza to share. I tried to make a reservation, but the reservation site said they were completely booked. From our experience along the East Coast while sailing the boat north, though, I have learned that there always seem to be some tables that the reservation services don't know about, or the best restaurants are willing to let people eat at the bar, so we decided to take our chances. We showed up at the restaurant looking like three old men back from the sea. We didn't stink, but we did need a shave and haircuts. The hostess gave us a long look before she welcomed us, and pursed her lips, as we could read what she was thinking - " How can I gently get rid of these bums?". We asked for a table for 3, early in the evening when there was almost no one in the restaurant, and she immediately asked if we had a reservation. I said no, but we could sit at the bar, if possible. More pursing of the lips, looking over her seating chart, and then she said we could sit at the bar. No escort to to stools, just waved us away to the bar. Beer was the first order of business, and the selection was very good. Then, we decided on the Verde equivalent of the meat-lovers pizza, which was quite tasty. Lots of toppings, good flavor, and it turned out to be just right for 3 elderly men. Several suggestions, though. (1) it would be nice if they had sliced the pizza better, so that we did not have to hack at it with a butter knife; (2) the four slices (I think) that the kitchen had created were a challenge to divide among 3 guys. Made harder by the availability of only a butter knife; (3) the bottom of the pizza was a bit soggy. Note that when I returned 2 days later with a different colleague, the bottom was quite crisp; 4) Verde seems to want to da away with printed menus and asks the patrons to login to their website to see what is available. Senior citizens with bad eyes have LOTS of problems reading a rather complicated menu on a phone. They did provide us with a printed menu, but maybe they should ask seniors if they want a printed version. (5) Verde does not make any pizzas that are not listed on the menu. So, if you want, say, anchovies and banana peppers on your pie, they will not make one for you, because that topping combination is not on the menu. I can always find something that I like on their menu, but this might put off some people with dietary concerns. Despite these issues, I returned to Verde a few days later with different colleague (even older than me, but not quite as scruffy), and we had a good time at lunch. It was a different greeter, and we were treated very well, and seated at a table. I intend to go back later in the summer when my wife finally comes up to the boat.More

Verde's been one of our favorite date night spots for years and we recently had our post-wedding brunch in the private room upstairs with ~30 people. We were able to pick out a few appetizers and different kinds of pizzas (20 pizzas total), which were...all served family style! Our favorites are the burrata, pistachio pesto pizza, and sausage and mushroom pizza. The owner and event manager were great to work with and the food was amazing, as per usual. All of our family loved the food. We can't recommend this place enough!More

Finally finally got to try out this much hyped out spot in Baltimore. The restaurant is cozy. It looks like they have upstairs seating as well (but not sure as I didn't go up) + bar seating downstairs. We went for dinner a couple of...weeks ago (with reservations). For the appetiser we tried the Trio of Homemade Pesti. Dang. So good. The pesti was incredible. And the portion was massive - there is plenty to share between 2-3 people with this dish (just ask for extra bread). I don't remember which pizza we ended up going with - but it was great! We finished off with the tiramisu. SO good. It's a slightly deconstructed tiramisu that is mascarpone heavy but the cheese is whipped so beautifully and just melts on your tongue. We will definitely be going back! FYI - seating on the first floor is pretty "cozy" with tables arranged pretty close together and lots of foot traffic.More

First time visiting Verde and it was fantastic. Had a catered event upstairs for a group of 40 and everything was perfect. We started at the friendly downstairs bar for some cocktails. Then the food started and never ended. The meatballs, burrata, salads and fried...dough were amazing. Then the pizza: All kinds of different pizzas (we had 32 of them). Our favorite was the traditional cheese pizza with fresh mozzarella. The sauce was as good as any we have had. The service could not have been more attentive and the GM was everywhere to make sure everything was perfect, and it was. This place is tremendous for both food and service. Try it. You will love it.More

Our family group of 6 were welcomed and brought to our table upstairs. It was obvious upon arrival the restaurant was short staffed and was confirmed throughout our 2 1/2 hour dining experience. Today's offering was a pre fixe menu for $32 pp which included...a drink, a meal and dessert. The drinks were goo, the main course selections varied from omelets to paninis to pizza and dessert offerings were ample. Overall was a good experience however what made the experience delightful was being with family for Mothers Day not necessarily the venue. I did not agree with being charged $3.00 for parmasean cheese for my pizza....it's a pizza place! I didn't like being nickel and dimed on a $32 per fixe pizza meal.....this is what I will remember about this place........More

This was a wonderful evening to visit Verde. The pizza was amazing and the shrimp puttanesca was great. Our only mistake was sharing the shrimp appetizer. Once I had the first bite I wanted it all for myself. It is so good I wanted it...all. The menu fits all tastes. The owner Ed stopped to chat a few minutes and was lovely and engaging. Thank you for a great dinner and service and company.More

This one one of the worst take out meals I have ever had. First, two dishes were in tomato sauce. They packed them in cardboard boxes, which, surprise to nobody but the restaurant, got soaking wet, leaked through the bag and onto my clothes when...I picked up the delivery. Secondly, the cured meats looked gray and not very appetizing. Sauces were all very very salty, and I like salt! Dishes with the tomato sauce seemed like there were all made with the same sauce. I must say, a complete disappointment.More

Where do I begin. Had a reservation at 7:30 drive up at 7:25 and there is a line of people out the door in the freezing cold who also all had 7:30 reservations. The staff was very rude yelling at people to close the door....They did not seat people in order of arrival were incredibly unorganized and not apologetic in the least bit. Finally got sat at 8:00 pm. Ordered all courses and drinks immediately upon being greeted by our waitress. Waited another 20 minutes for our drinks, and appetizer and even after asking multiple people never received bread plates. Waited another hour for our pizzas while people who were sat after us received their pizzas 30 minutes before us. We were never checked on by our waitress or any other staff at any point when we clearly had empty water glasses. The pizza was trash and dominos would have been better. We couldn't get out of there fast enough but their valet forgot where they parked our car so we waited another 20 minutes for our car. My parents owned a successful restaurant when I was growing up and would have never let any customer have this kind of experience and if a customer had a bad experience they would profusely apologize and make it right. Do not go to verde.More

I'm a longtime Verde fan and customer. This evening, "half-priced pizza night", I ordered a gluten-free pizza, at a $6 premium on the normal $19 price. When the bill came, I inquired about what appeared to be a $15.50 charge for a $25 pizza, hardly..."half price". The response was ... "Oh, we don't discount the charge for the gluten-free option." I responded that there was no indication on the menu that this option was excluded from the offer. The floor manager's answer was "That's what we do. We get our gluten free flour from Italy. It's expensive." She offered me a "free dessert" but was unwilling to budge on the overcharge for the pizza. My problem with this is two-fold. First, the "half-price" offer turned out to be a bait and switch. There was no indication anywhere that the GF option was excluded from the half-price offer. Second, the restaurant manager was unconcerned about the problem, and unconcerned that a loyal customer was expressing concern about the issue. I like to do business with restaurants with integrity. Unfortunately, I won't be back to Verde, and I will no longer recommend it as one of my favorite Baltimore restaurants.More
