We had a meal here while visiting our daughter who lives in Baltimore. Although it was a windy, cold winter night, we found the restaurant very warm and the staff friendly and inviting. The goyza was excellent, as was the sampling of sushi we ordered. We will return.

Looking at some of the other reviews, I wonder if I went to the same place. I thought the sushi was quite good: fish was fresh and cut no bigger than most sushi these days. The service might have been a bit slow, but it was friendly. My only criticism is that the edamame were a little been over boiled. But I liked the fact that they were not over salted. All in all a very good experience.

Located in a prior private home in Mid Town Baltimore, a half block below the venerable Belvedere Hotel, Minato is a hip restaurant serving modern variations on traditional sushi dishes. Sake, beers, and ( I am told, not being a cocktail drinker) really good mixed drinks. 3 PM (1500) to 7 PM (1900) is happy hour with reduced prices on food and drinks. If you like a casual friendly local in Baltimore Mid Town, try Minato.

We have eaten here for many year, but the food was lackluster this time around. The service was slow but pleasant. The martini was served in old fashioned glass with unpitted olives.

Their sushi was not authentic. It is not even made by Japanese chef. The sushi was very typical Americanized sushi. It is not even sliced finely. The only thing that was ok was their cocktails. For $5 you can get a little drunk, not a bad deal.

Minato is one of those places you might miss if you walk past in haste. The entrance is up a few steps into what looks like an old Baltimore townhouse; step to the immediate right through another door and you will find yourself in a very pleasant place for a quick sushi lunch! (I'll have to check back for dinner some time...) The menu is varied and plentiful, and includes some unusual Korean fusion dishes, like Korean Chirashi. There's a small salad bar to start you meal, and lots of selections to complete it.

We came here on a recommendation by a friend to check out the happy hour. Great happy hour drink, appetizer, and sushi list. For apps, the seaweed salad was great, prob wouldn’t order the octopus app again. Both of our lychee drinks (the martini and the cocktail) were tasty. The sushi was fresh and good quality. We didn’t break the bank and still had leftovers the next day.

A pleasant Japanese restaurant in a townhouse. The assortment of sushi is outstanding, and the rolls are well-made. The waitress was most accommodating.

We had not been at Minato for quite some time after a few mediocre meals. We returned there today for a late lunch and we arrived during their "happy hour" time where all the food is much reduced. We had 2 miso soups, 1 large seaweed salad, 1 order of gyozo, 3 maki rolls (shrimp tempura, salmon & avocado, shrimp tempura) and one bier for less than $31. That's pretty amazing! The rolls were tasty and the miso soup was much more substantial than in other sushi restaurants. We will definitely come back soon!

Very good deal fir happy hour. That said, thevsushi was fine, but there was an overall smell to the place that wasn't so fresh. Also, at one point it seemed the entire staff ( including the sushi chef) were on their cell phones... had to wave my arms to get someone's attention to get my check. Would recommend to any management, that it just dues to look good to have the person making sushi also touching their phone

I had never been to this restaurant before a couple weeks ago. I had a great time, and they have some really unique rolls that are on happy hour. Prices are reasonable and service is great. It is a great neighborhood find in Mount Vernon.

there is a great variety of sushi but not all are good, some choices are really bad. I like the service in general, the price is little high for the quality, to be honest I expected more for a restaurant that is focused on sushi.

The Philadelphia roll here is AMAZING!! I always get a Philadelphia roll when I go out, but this one was really good, it had the perfect amount of cream cheese, not too over powering. Also had a few other rolls that were delicious and my boyfriend had the spicy shrimp soup, which he said was very good!

Ordered California roll, advocado roll and cucumber rolls for take out. The food was better than average. Service was great. Will go back and try other items on the menu. Inviting decor and atmosphere.

This restaurant experience is worth multiple visits. The service was attentive. But the sushi was just excellent and in more than adequate portions. This was our second visit and we'll certainly return.
