Visited on a friend recommendation as I was home sick for some french flavor . I had a merguez frites et une crêpe Nutella way cheaper than a trip to Paris Didn’t try anything else but just reading the menu it make me wanna come back . Good service very friendly atmosphere lots of return customers from listening to conversations.

Mount Washington is reminiscent of a small European village, so Le Bistro Du Village was the perfect place to go to maintain that old world sensibility. The decor is simple and appropriate. The staff are welcoming. We started with an aptly named Pinot Noir, Barton Geustier Bistro. Our starters were nicely done and presented. The escargots came with beautiful bread to dip in the butter. The crocks of onion soup transported us to France. The cheese was delicious, especially the parts that could be peeled off the side of the crock. The steaks were done exactly to order and juicy. The hanger steak came with a huge bowl of frites that we all shared. The filet mignon sat on top of a delicious square of au gratin/scalloped type potatos. The duck confit was also nestled on a bed of the potatoes and spinach. It was well prepared though a touch too salty. The crepe was stuffed with fruit and big enough to share. The chocolate mousse was both light and spongy. We need to return to this village inn more often.

Don't miss this amazing and authentic French restaurant. Found in Mt. Washington, this spot is inviting with wonderful food! An added bonus is not only the live music on Thursday nights but the excellent service and warm inviting atmosphere every day and night. Owner chef Mustafa and his staff make your every visit a lovely, unrushed experience. Unplug and unwind with a wide variety of terrific food and drinks. Don't for get to leave room for dessert!

Great meal - Crepe Florentine, Crepe Marie-Antoinette (Sautèed Shrimp, Jumbo Lump Crab, Onion, garlic, tomato, spinach & goat cheese), and Steak Frites. All three items were perfect. Finished it off with dessert - crepe du sucre with bananas and blueberries, and a crepe au Nutella with bananas. Got to sit outside on an unseasonably warm fall day, and it made the environment perfect too. Highly recommended.

Had a wonderful dinner & evening at the Bistro. Its authentic French cuisine in a small - but charming - dining room. Duck confit a l'orange was outstanding and flawless, exactly as I'd been looking forward to after ordering it. The Steak frites au poivre with mushrooms were excellent too. For years we made annual roadtrips through France for le Mans, and the best part for me was finding a small family run rustic bistro in a small French country village. The Bistro du Village is is exactly that. It took me back to those days with a smile on my face. I now get why reviews are polarised: The excellent ones are from those who have loved this place for years who rate it highly; and people who really understand the relaxed nature of a French bistro dining experience. Whereas the lower reviews seem to be from those who perhaps were looking for a more modern American/French or perhaps a quick dining experience. I met the owner and some family members and they are so nice and extremely personable. That said, the staff are few in number. They take pride in doing things the classic French way. But those seeking quick 'dinner and a movie' will not appreciate this gem. Its a destination in itself. Take time to enjoy a truly relaxed, fun, authentic French dining experience with great food and great staff! For sure: I'll be back.

Always great food, great service and you can carry on a conversation without having to shout. We hardly go to any other restaurant anymore and always spend New Year's Eve there as well. Superb restaurant!

This very special French serves the most authentic food this side of the Left Bank. Each and every dish is prepared and presented with great care and attention to detail. The atmosphere and service is lovely, attentive and caring or each patrons individual needs and desires. Bravo!

Five family members met at Le Bistro do a mini-reunion. Service was attentive but unrushed, helpful about wines and dishes. Food was well presented, nicely prepared. We all enjoyed our diverse entrees — seafood, duck, prime rib. Wine list isn’t long but has surprising breadth. Two of us enjoyed their signature cocktails My only complaint was about the cheese plate — the Brie was too cold and not properly ripe, and the baguette slices were mangled We thought the bistro offered good value, and we had a great evening

Went recently with my wife for early dinner. Restaurant was not crowded at 5:30 PM on a Saturday night. Parked on street but parking can be an issue because of number of restaurants nearby. Good menu with varied selections: steak, seafood, crepes. Hanger steak with fries was well-prepared and tasty. my wife thought the crepe she had was very good. There is a small but good selection of wine by the glass. Service was good but started out a little fast paced in terms of order taking. We like to peruse menu over drinks before ordering. No problems with pace after mentioning our preference for a slower and more relaxed approach. Dessert crepes were excellent and large,

Four of us went to dinner and we all had an excellent meal. The appetizers we're good as was the soup and salad. One salad is large enough to share. Two of us had duck and two had bronzino, all excellent. The wine list features mostly French wines and they are reasonablely priced. Based on this meal, this will be my go to local restaurant. The only negative, parking can be difficult in Mt. Washington.

We dine at Le Bistro du Village about once a month because we always find the food (especially the mussels) and service to be good. However we could not have been more disappointed with our visit this evening. We took my mother-in-law to celebrate her birthday and both she and my husband ordered the mussels. When they arrived they were the smallest mussels we had ever seen! They bravely ate some hoping that it was just a few that were small, but sadly not. The waiter informed the owner of our disappointment and he soon came out to inform us that "this is what my supplier send me and it is what it is..." We asked if he knew that they were that small and he said "yes, we sold a few orders earlier tonight, but it's not my fault, it is the supplier's. I'll call him on Monday and tell him." We were shocked at the owner's total lack of responsibility for the situation! Where is the quality control; does he just blindly serve whatever he is delivered? (We do want to commend our waiter for being very professional in a difficult situation.) At the end, the owner did take one of the mussel orders off of our bill, but needless to say the evening was ruined by his attitude, which has caused him to lose loyal customers.

We have previously looked at this restaurant when on vacation in Baltimore but had not been fortunate enough to get there until today. We were very pleased with the menu selection and there were numerous wine options at reasonable prices. The cheve chaud (goat cheese) salad was large and wonderfully tasty. We had the duck confit and the salmon, each comes with a starch and spinach, both delicious. We shared a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc from France recommended by the waiter and it went very well with the food. They have wonderful crepes for dessert as well.

The positives first. The new waitress was delightfully sweet. The ambience and decor was lovely and quaint. Not sure about the music playing. French music would be nice. The food was delicious. Several of us had the mussels which, oddly enough came with fries instead of the usual bread to dip in the delicious sauce. Suggest changing that. Had the Crepe Jura with chicken and avocado. Very good size portions. Everyone was pleased with their meal although the mussels were very small, the sauce was flavorful. The only downer was the cook/owner. He was very brusque with the new waitress in front of customers, and was very brusque with our party serving and removing plates. Perhaps he was having a bad day but no one wants to deal with an attitude when they go out to celebrate. Hope he can learn to put on a happy face!
