Food was cold, owner was a rude hillbilly who was yelling at neighbors and staff. Rooms had leaking roof and my card was overcharged. Beware

We recently stayed in the Dover area of Kentucky Lake via a rental home. We tried multiple restaurants during our 4 days there and our favorite was the Pirate's Cove in Leatherwood Marina. They have developed a great atmostphere right by the marina/water. The Food...was good, we ate wings/fried catfish/hot ham and cheese. Also, the best hushpuppies I've had in quite a while. Its typical marina restaurant style food and they do a good job with it. They also have a neat bar area setup. We spoke to the owner who checked us out on our boat rental, and then spoke with him again at the restaurant. SUPER nice guy, and shows pride of ownership in his business. Overall great experience and would recommend.More

Ate and drank @ Pirate's Cove with friends in 2017 - good, nice experience. Unfortunately, our 2nd and last visit was on 4 July. Received absolutely unacceptable service/wait time for our food. With a nearly empty restaurant (indoors and outdoors), it took cook 1 1/2hrs...to prepare three salads with meat, a burger with fries, 10 wings and onion rings and chicken tenders with mozzarella sticks. Specifically, we received the chicken tenders exactly 1 1/2hrs after ordering! Sadly, we observed food delivered to other patrons, who arrived after us, before we received our food. While we sincerely appreciate the owner, Scott Walin, stopping by our table, accepting our complaints, refunding the three salads and bringing four free beers, we will not return to this restaurant as we have to boat by many other Lake/River Bars and Grills that "make it happen" for customers every time!More

Very out of the way place on poor secondary roads. Booth was dirty, had to ask for silverware and napkins. Food was average and service below average. Slow to get food out. Went there because of trip advisor score and was really disappointed.

We recently made our way to Pirates Cove (by boat) and we really had a most enjoyable time. Boat in/out access and docking was a simple and easy event! The food was great, lots of offerings, tasty and good price. Adult beverages were plentiful and...cold, to include distilled spirits. And, they offered fabulous music! They have full Marina services, and a nice boat ramp.More

We have been a couple of times now and plan to go stay the week-end soon in one of the cabins, pool is clean with a cool little waterfall. The Staff is friendly and beer is cold. Food is good. Its usually very quit during...the week, makes for a relaxing day trip to just sit and look at the water. The owner is very nice and gave us both free Landshark sunglasses last time we were there! Keep up the good work!More

The docks and campsites are kept up nicely. They have cabins, but I've never been in them. The pool is always clean and their restaurant is very good. I love when they have live music.

About 30 bikers and I were on a ride and called ahead to let the restaurant know we were on our way. We got there about 12 noon on a saturday and the service was pretty fast considering. There are nice seats inside and several...patio tables with unbrellas outside. The lunches were between 6 and 12 dollars and the grilled chicken sandwich I had was very good. They do serve beer and have several craft beers available which some of the others said were very good. *** The bathrooms are VERY SMALL and share a hand washing sink so be patient.More
