Typically I grab a cup of coffee and a cinnamon roll at the Blue Scorcher. My most recent visit included a sandwich, which was excellent. The service was excellent and the environment is comfortable and relaxed.

Laid-back coffee-house atmosphere . Music not intrusively loud. Rather limited menu, but all "fresh" food, with home-baked breads. Small kids menu is available, pbj, mac and cheese etc. The PBJ had sunflower butter on it, which threw my son for a loop. They have a kids play area. Kitschy decor. They expect you (it is expected, specifically) to self-bus your... More

Hi Sean, Our mission is to serve delicious, organic food; foster joyful work for our employees; and build our community. I can see that some of the ways we approach the fulfillment of our mission were a little disappointing for you. Every ingredient used in our foods, breads, pastry, chocolate, and coffee is specifically sourced for quality, wholesomeness, and sustainability.... More

Ok, my title really is unfair because this is the ONLY place we've ever had breakfast in Astoria. We wandered around a bit many years ago, found this and are now attached to it like we have an umbilical cord.... Kind of a hippy-esque environment (in that they are friendly, kind, sort of whole grain, good vibe, good coffee, too... More

The line moves fast and the wait was worth it. Pastries are delicious. It's proximity to Fort George doesn't hurt either.

I loved the choices of breakfast items when I last visited Astoria. There was a line, but not overly long and went fast. It is order at the counter, then sit for service.

So crowded for lunch, fabulous vegetarian offerings, good bread and great baked goods. Everything is so beautifully presented it is hard to choose. Bear claw so tasty with an unusual amount of almonds and almond paste, but smaller than usual also 4 dollars. Baguette was 5 dollars and although very good and crisp, yet chewy 4$ would have been fair.... More

A pleasant, rustic place to find tasty gluten-free baked goods, a light meal, and great tea. My friends also really loved their coffee as well as tasty conventional baked goods too. The salad I had was a special treat. Service was very friendly and helpful. They even have a nook for children. For simple eats, one could not ask for... More

We stopped in for a snack and a cup of Joe. The ambiance is slightly rustic industrial. There is ample seating for large groups. The bakery offers gluten free bread and a small array of healthy treats. The coffee was very good, and the staff is very friendly and informative. We would come here again.

One of the main reasons that we visited here was to support the employee owned restaurant which is similar to Zachary's in Berkeley. California. Unlike Zachary's this place needs to get its prices down if it intends to thrive and survive. I mean, $8.75 for granola cereal - really?

We were heading for our flights out of Portland, last day of our vacation on the Long Island Peninsula. Decided to stop for breakfast but couldn't find anywhere to park near the first place we saw, so pulled off the main drag to park, and there in front of us was the Blue Scorcher. I am so glad we went... More
