Classic bakery

Wonderful place, we stop here every time we're in Astoria. Like walking into a 1950s donut shop. Very tasty and bargain prices.

I had a little delight called a Schnecken? A chewy caramel, cinnamon, pastry, which is exactly the same as I remember from my childhood. It was sooooo good. John the baker does a fabulous job. The glazed donuts are light and airy and the apple fritters (give me a moment to wipe the drool off my face), are full of... More

The Bakery was closed with a handwritten sign on the door, saying closed die to fail;y illness. I was there a few years ago and was going to return and see if the baked goods counter had more in it and the items were fresher.

The sad part is that the gentleman that owns and runs this business had one of his legs aputated last week and they will be closed down indefintely. Many fun raisers are being put out there to help with his medical bills and buy a wheel chair so he can continue operating the business.

Don't forget to grab a few fruit bars to throw in the top of your pastry bag. Incredibly tasty and you can pass them off as health food!!

I purchased a fresh banana cake for a work celebration and it was wonderful. Very moist cake, creamy banana pudding with fresh bananas for filling and whipped cream frosting. Even those in my group that don't usually like bananas raved about the cake. Thank you for making our celebration special!

We went to this bakery last year and walked out due to flies in the pastry case. Tried again last week with family and the cases were loaded with BEES! The woman who works there just laughed and said it happens every day and that they're attracted by the sugar. The cases do not appear to close and the front... More

If you've got a hankering for a maple bar or an apple fritter, don't just walk by, go on in. Definitely homemade and worth the very cheap price. Great for the afternoon hungries.
