Food and service OK

Food and service was much better with previous owner. We like to sit by the pond and watch the ducks.

Don't understand one reviewer's comment on how this place is the "This is by far the BEST Mexican food you can find in Danville and San Ramon". If that is the case, then I'd skip the rest of the restaurants in the area. First, the restaurant is VERY loud. So loud, I couldn't hear the person next to me. Went... More

Sorry, but we were terribly disappointed with the food and drinks here. My husband thought the margarita tasted like cleaning fluid, and the food was less than mediocre. The location and ambiance looked like it could be a great place. Won't be coming back however ....very disappointing.

My husband and I stopped in after a visit to the Spirit of the Old West at the Museum just across the way. Delighted! The service was excellent, our food came steaming hot and tasting pretty authentic…I had the shrimp fajitas which came on a cast iron platter that was still crackling and popping…shrimp and veggies were abundant and served... The Pricly Pear benefits from a fabulous location overlooking the duck pond at Blackhawk Plaza. It has a great patio scene and the interior space is pleasantly decorated. The service is efficient, friendly and fast. Where things go South a bit is with the food. It is average fare that relies on big portions rather than creative cooking. I asked... More

Had the grilled cheese which was recommended by a local. Three cheeses on bread, Very average and super dry. My friend had the burger which he really liked. So they get an average score.

We took our now 5 year old granddaughter and family to the Prickly Pear for her birthday. We had an early dinner so were able to not ruin others evenings with two exuberant kids antics. The food was good and beer, delightful. The patio seating at the edge of the pond' ducks delighted the kids. Another worthwile experience here.

This restaurant has a nice relaxing outdoor environment, and on paper, a good menu selection.....however, in terms of taste, well, lets say that there is some room for improvement. Cantinas are not normally known for having great food and that would be the case here. The portions, however, are huge, so you are not likely to leave hungry.

I've had better tamales out of a can. How is it possible to make masa tough? They managed to do it here. Two small pieces of pork, and one was pure fat. Yuk! I would not try this place again.

A very nice TexMex restaurant with a somewhat upscale feel. Very Nice dining area, and bar. The outdoor seating is great with plenty of shady spots overlooking the pond. The food is very good. I particularly like the Carnitas. Great margaritas and good beer and wine selection. Solid service. Overall a very good experience.
