My husband and I strolled in to Ernie's Texas Lunch for lunch last week. Very reminiscent of an old time dinner with counter service and swivel counter stools. This is a family business for probably almost 80 years with roots in Gettysburg. I had the Hot Weiner...tasted like a Rhode Island Hot Weiner...with the casing, mustard, onions and meat sauce.... Loved finding this little place! Best prices in the area, with decent food - nothing fancy but good sandwiches and hot fries. Nice old-time feel inside with retro style counters and decor. Really felt like we were eating local here! The kids very much enjoyed it.

I must say the atmosphere and staff are top notch...kind, friendly and efficient. I am sad to say that the food is just one step above a convenience store. Steak Um and a cold bun constitutes a steak hoagie and frozen under cooked fries are what they offer as a side. It really would cost them nothing to warm and... More

Great breakfasts. "Texas hotdog with chili" lunch. Hamburgers sandwiches. Soft drinks, beer. Prices reasonable and appropriate. A town classic, student hangout, lawyer lunch hangout, construction worker hangout, etc.

Ate lunch May 24 when touring Gettysburg by myself. Chose it because of good TripAdvisor ratings. The waitress was glad to give me change to feed the parking meter before I came back and sat down and ordered. Cup of chili was very good, the patty melt was outstanding. Very comfortable atmosphere with good food.

Off the main drag. Service was quick, staff friendly. I had the BLT and fries. My brother has the turkey club. Both were delicious. Reasonably priced.

I have eaten at Ernie's Texas Lunch several times. This is a locals favorite for lunch. They have great chilly dogs and fries along with other Diner food, This is a great place for cheap eats.

The food is okay, service is okay, ambiance is good. Employees and customers are what make this place work. The signature hot dogs and chili sauce are just okay. This is an old time local business that appreciates tourists but does not court them. It is primarily for locals by locals.

Walk in. Find a seat. Place your order with a friendly waitress. Enjoy your food and the diner experience. What could be simpler? I visited with my wife and 4-YO son for lunch. I had the BLT combo. The wife had the skinned coney dog. The son had a plain dog. Service was quick and friendly. Food was out fast... More
