My grandfather made his fortune selling hot dogs. This place is the closest I've come to his. Very relaxed atmosphere, and friendly staff. Jess is the best damn hot dog maker this side of the Mississippi. Will return again and again.

We wanted to show our two Suns a traditional dinner. We had tried loads of places in the drive in from Harper's ferry bout could it find a good example worth stopping at. We parked n a supermarket car parked and walked into the centre of Gettysburg. We came acts this place close to the town square. It's great. On... More

I visited Ernies Texas Lunch based on the review I found on trip adviser. I was heading to a festival and traveled through Gettysburg. I like little diners. As recomended I ordered a hotdog. From the start the service was excellent. The counter waitress knew the menu, the customer comunities needs wants and values and had great intuition on how... More

Came here on a friend's recommendation. Been here since 1921 and is owned by the same family. Very friendly quick service and tasty, reasonably priced. Recommend for a good lunch.

I saw good reviews on Trip Advisor so we decided to check it out on our vacation. The food overall was good. My husband loved the bacon cheeseburger and I enjoyed by grilled cheese with bacon. I wasn't a huge fan of their chilli fries but it wasn't bad. Prices were decent and it was a nice comfortable atmosphere. We... More

Ernie's famous dog advertises natural casing, but so what ? I expected at least a quarter pounder all beef, but it was less than that - smallish, a mix of different fillers and meat products on a cheap flour roll. His onions were minced, and chilled, which lack taste. Topped with Chile, mustard - a below average doggie. I have... More

My husband and I strolled in to Ernie's Texas Lunch for lunch last week. Very reminiscent of an old time dinner with counter service and swivel counter stools. This is a family business for probably almost 80 years with roots in Gettysburg. I had the Hot Weiner...tasted like a Rhode Island Hot Weiner...with the casing, mustard, onions and meat sauce.... Loved finding this little place! Best prices in the area, with decent food - nothing fancy but good sandwiches and hot fries. Nice old-time feel inside with retro style counters and decor. Really felt like we were eating local here! The kids very much enjoyed it.
