We stopped last week for our second visit. Food was very good. The overall ambiance is a little primitive. But if you like the traditional feel, you will like Garyowen.

The owners have doubled their dining room capacity and that is good news! They have added another small bar in the new side as well as more restrooms. The food continues to be excellent, original Irish recipes and the service is friendly. The best part...More

They had a great selection of whiskeys but the mussels and salad we had were terrible. The mussels in white wine and garlic were way too salty but they were cooked properly so its sad they ruined them with an outrageous amount of salt. My...More

Always hard to get a table in the bar, the Garry Owen has a new full dining room (they bought the beautiful civil war-era building next door and knocked through the adjoining walls. It's handsomely decorate and a great alternative to the bar, which is...More

We ended up at Garryowen because most places were closed. How lucky we were. It was the best hamburger I have had in a very long time. And they have Harp on tap, too!

We went here for dinner last night. There were few patrons because of the weather. The fish and chips were ok, the Irish stew was good. When I attempted to walk around to look at the decor, the manager stopped me at the doorway to...More

Have been to Gary Owen over a dozen times and always a great time. I highly advise a Guinness draft and the fish and chips, they are amazing. Bar tenders are always friendly and they often have live music.

Hi, We visited your restaurant with all our relatives (including a baby) over Thanksgiving , and liked it very much. Now, my son and his wife and kids, who live in Gettysburg [on South street, not very far away], all seem to have the flu. Is there some way we can send them by some delivery service some of your wonderful menu? Which items can you send? Do you have anything like chicken soup? Thanks for your help and insight! You should contact the restaurant directly and not thru TripAdvisor. I doubt the owners check TripAdvisor every day.

Gettysburg's only Irish-owned and operated pub offers a genuine taste of Ireland through "Ceol, cainte agus craic" Music, talk & fun. Open 7 days for lunch & dinner, The Garryowen, or "The GO" as it's know to our regulars, is as inviting as any pub found back in the old country with friendly service, a large selection of Irish whiskies, the best of Ireland's draft beers, and the perfect pour of Guinness which is complimented with a carefully picked selection of international and domestic premium beers, wines and spirits. Our kitchen prepares the most authentic Irish fare in the area from the owners' family recipes, with many ingredients imported directly from Ireland. Paired with traditional pub fare, made in house daily from scratch with local ingredients where possible. Our menu is sure to satisfy the most discerning of tastes. Enjoy your meal in our cozy dining room, by the fireplace or at the bar.The first and third Sundays of each month are a special treat for lovers of Irish music, with a traditional 'Seisun' from 2 til 5pm. Reservations are highly recommended.
