Omg. Absolutely awesome. My photo is of the enchiladas. Beautiful bright lovely enchiladas. Only minor complaint is the guac is $10 and chips and salsa is $6 which seems a bit steep. But the two salsas are amazing.

Every visit to Philadelphia for me must include a trip to Blue Corn. They have some of my favorite Mexican food that I’ve ever had and have introduced me to several interesting and delicious dishes. My boyfriend loves to get a big huge huarache or...three pibil tacos and I always get a mixed sampler of tacos or sopecitos. We also love their guacamole which has great texture and nice heat. The music and decor are always fun. Be aware that they are cash only but have an ATM.More
My father has been wanting to go here for quite some time, and made reservations for 6 people in early December, for December 30th, since he knew we (hubby and 2 college sons) were coming up from Florida. Upon arrival, luckily it wasn’t busy because...they didn’t have record of our reservation (even though they admitted if they’re busy at the time of the phone call, they often might forget to write it down). It’s a very small place so as I said, luckily it wasn’t busy otherwise we wouldn’t have had our reserved table and I would’ve been angry. Make sure you make reservations and get some sort of confirmation from them, because it gets crowded! The service was good- many hands on deck so we didn’t wait for anything. The guacamole was fresh and a little spicy. The pico de gallo was good. Rest of my clan really enjoyed the two salsas; they were a little too spicy for me. Blue corn chips were good too. My father and I got one of the specials for our entree- I don’t remember now what it was- maybe prime rib with Marrow on the side. My fathers meat was cooked to his liking, but mine definitely was over cooked. I asked for medium and there wasn’t a touch of pink at all inside. However, with that being said, it was still tender and the flavor was good so I didn’t return it. My one son got the other special- a branzino fish, and that was delicious. My husband got some kind of tongue, I didn’t like it but he really did. My other son got some sort of chicken sandwich that he deemed delicious. For drinks I got the Cadillac margarita. Very fresh tasting- didn’t taste like a sour mix, just fresh ingredients. You won’t feel jipped on the amount of tequila in it- the bartender measured the tequila and the grand mariner, so you are getting the exact amount you should (versus maybe getting too little, or the better end-too much😀- with a free pour). To end with I got some kind of chocolate lava cake which was good. So all in all, I would go back! It would have received 5 stars if they didn’t lose track of our reservation, and if they had cooked the meat medium as requested instead of medium-well/well. Allow yourself extra time ahead of your reservation to find parking. It took us a good 20 minutes to find what we hoped was legal parking- 3 blocks away.More
We went here because of all the good reviews and we certainly were not disappointed. Four of us ordered a wide variety of items and then we shared dishes. I thought everything was excellent, the service was very helpful and the prices were reasonable. It...is located on 9th Street in the Italian Market area of Philly. We were there on a Saturday and the place was really fun and crowded.More
Just love this restaurant and the food it serves. The servers are very friendly, yet professional. The restaurant itself is not fancy, but it is warm and inviting. Blue Corn makes a fish soup that is outstanding. It is available during the fall/winter months. I...am so happy fall is here. I need my fix of fish soup!More
This place, it’s a must. Great selection of margaritas to start. Powerful flavor in the food. It’s hands down the most Magnificent Mexican food I’ve ever had. The plates were beautiful and the food temperature was warm/hot so you knew it was freshly prepared for...you. We got a steak absolutely perfectly cut, and we tried blue corn tacos and the chef specials a poblano stuffed chicken and a stuffed poblano with cream sauce and pomegranate. Now this is a pretty authentic place, still one could say the dishes might of had a touch of Italian flare. If so, that’s absolutely fine with us. We are going back again tomorrow. *Cash only but there’s an atm inside.More
Order the shrimp cocktail. They come floating in a sweet and tangy cocktail sauce with slices of avocado and chopped onions and cilantro. They come with some type of crackers on the side that were delicious. I also recommend the guacamole. The seafood tacos were...nothing special. Beware the hot sauce because it's quite spicy.More
This small Mexican restaurant is on 9th street in the heart of the Italian Market. The area has been changing to include many excellent Mexican eateries, and Blue Corn is among the best. It's small inside -- only about 10 tables -- and a full...bar. The food was excellent and included some selections only available in authentic places. We started with the queso and the Huaraches, a flat corn cake topped with salsa, no pales and cheese. It was very fresh and flavorful. Our entrees were equally excellent and included the fish tacos (3 filled with crab and shrimp) and the al pastor taco (pork roasted on a spit over a pineapple). Dessert was the flan -- very rich. Prices quite reasonable -- all this, a beer and coffee for $70. We will return. Reservations a must on Saturdays.More
My husband and I were in Philadelphia for 3 days and ate here twice! The food was delicious and service was very good.
Planted in the heart of Italian Market area, Blue Corn stands out all on it’s own. The Puerto Vallarta Tacos with lobster and shrimp were nothing like I’ve ever tasted and totally enjoyed them! The Tacos Campechanos with steak and chorizo were tender and plentiful....Service great. Has tap beer! CASH ONLY but has an ATM inside if caught short.More
