NEVER AGAIN !! Que Chula Es Puebla Mexican Food -1 * 1356 N 2nd St Philadelphia, INCLUDED a 22% TIP in the bill? After going here many times because the food was good and so was the service, UNTIL TONIGHT. We also liked being able...to bring our own wine and that was a plus. BUT TONIGHT.... this place hit an all time LOW. The service was horrible and bitchy at best and the food was not the same as before. When the check folder came (thrown on the table) we noticed that they decided to ADD IN a 22% TIP to the bill without even telling us as a service fee. This was not an Uncorking fee but gratuity and over 20% ...this was the first time they did this and I am .... NOT HAPPY and very disappointed. CONS: 1. Only had 1 Shrimp on my platter but lots of chicken .... told that is the way it is. 2. Had to keep asking to refill the water and NEVER got done. 3. Had to ask 3 times for extra napkins 4. ADDED a 22% TIP without telling us. When I asked the other table behind me about his bill ..he did not notice the extra charge on the bottom until I pointed it out ...BOY was he PISSED..... As we were leaving, the other girl working was totally RUDE. Because I complained about the service and food and that I was not told that the TIP was included in the bill. She decided to yell out BYE BYE don't come back. WELL ...This will cost you our business and anyone we know.. To NOT COME HERE. MY QUESTION to everyone.. 1. What would you do? 2. Have you EVER gotten a bill and the tip is included ... at 22% 3. Was I wrong to complain? I always TIP well. BUT Tonight I was so NOT HAPPY.. that I had to vent. There are so many other places to go other than here..More

Really great Mexican food. The menu is pretty extensive with all the typical offerings. Service was very quick, attentive, and friendly. Portion size was large and the price was good. I had the chicken enchilada with red sauce. Rarely do I finish all my food...when out, but I cleared that entire plate fast. It is BYOB if that is a concern of yours.More

Started out with great service and it only got better from there. Complementary chips and dips to start and a homemade mango drink. Large menu to choose from. The food was Tasty and at great prices. Large portions to say the least. Well worth it....The place has lots of room and for larger parties. Jerry Ehrlich from the Great City of PhiladelphiaMore

The service was outstanding and the place was a nice find with a nice atmosphere. The complimentary chips and salsas were ok, we prefer the fresh cut up over theirs though. I had the Shrimp Cerviche which was very tasty. My wife had the Enchilada...in which she really enjoyed. All fresh and very tasty.More

We lived two blocks from Que Chula Es Puebla for two years. My husband was CONSTANTLY asking me to order from here. They really do have great Mexican food. It's reasonably priced, and our order was always correct. When we first started ordering from there,...I was a vegetarian. The food options were super limited. However, now I'm not, so it was great!More

After having moved from California, and away from the GREAT Mexican cuisine you could find if you threw a dart in the air, I found it EXTREMELY dissapointing to visit "authentic Mexican" restaurants in the tri-state area, to find anything BUT authentic food drenched in...refried beans and melted cheese. Then last night happened. On a hunch, my husband came across this small restaurant toting "authentic" cuisine, to which I hesitantly agreed to order food from. We ordered our food to go, so the first exposure to the food was the aroma in the short car ride home. Needless to say, I was very excited to open the food containers when we got home, and I was NOT disappointed. As most places can usually nail burritos, tacos, and nachos, my test for a Mexican spot is their chile rellenos. These were fresh and DE-LI-CIOUS. The rice and beans were also tasty -- my kids HOUSED an entire side of them, along with splitting a chicken burrito. This is certainly going to be a frequent stop for us in the future.More

Everything that I had during my 6 or so visits was extremely well prepared, very fresh and mostly homemade (I doubt the burrito tortilla was homemade, but I could be wrong). Their homemade red salsa is a very nice combinations of chilli peppers, it has...a smokey flavor and a nice little kick. I put it on everything. The green salsa is nice too and has a very bright flavor. The dishes with shrimp (burrito and tacos) were super fresh as the shrimp actually tasted like they should with lots of flavor bursting out. They were not stingy on the portions here and provided plenty of shrimp for the dish!! Chicken tamales also taste as they should and remind me of the tamales I had when I visited Mexico. This is a must try if you like Mexican food. Not a fancy place, but if you enjoy well prepared homemade Mexican food with some regional Puebla dishes, you will be glad you ate here.More

My wife and daughter dined at this Mexican Restaurant on Saturday evening, April 5th, at around 6:30. Que Chula Es Puebla is a small eatery located in a Philadelphia neighborhood about a mile northeast of center city Philadelphia. Free street parking is available around the...establishment. We parked within 100 feet of the place. The aging interior, complete with a Spanish speaking show on the TV and sporting simple Mexican décor, added to the authenticity of a real Mexican restaurant similar to what one might expect in the small towns of Mexico itself. Upon our arrival we were immediately seated and our drink orders were taken. We found the staff to be courteous, friendly and gracious. Alcoholic beverages aren’t served, but you could bring your own. The menu is quite extensive and after a few minutes we placed our orders of Chili cheese rellenos for me, Veggie Chimichanga for my daughter and chicken enchiladas for my wife. While we waited, the server brought us a basket of Tostitos chips with 2 very different tasting sauces. I found them both to be unique in flavor and very good. The three meals were brought to our table hot and in a very reasonable amount of time. All of us enjoyed the dinners. My chili cheese relleno, accompanied by beans and rice was stuffed with cheese and had just the right amount of spiciness and kick to it. Not too much, not too little. We topped off the meal with a couple of slices of Mexican cake, which was a great ending to a great meal. I would eat there again if I’m in Philadelphia and in the mood for a good, authentic Mexican meal.More
