Crowds of people came to Jim's Steaks on South Street for sandwiches. Evidently this is a famous place with customers who are well known. Many photos lined the wall. Tony Bennett had been there. We wanted to have a Philly steak sandwich in Philadelphia.

I went to Jim's steaks for the first time today and it was phenomenal. It's funny I found out about this place on tv when Kevin Hart and Ice Cube were promoting the first ride along movie and they came here signing autographs and giving...More

Jim's steaks is the absolute best cheesesteak on the planet Earth. Forget Pat's and Geno's. Visit Jim's steaks and if it is the best cheesesteak you've ever had, you need to buy me one for the referral. Funny

Hi, Lisa: Off day or not, this is not how guests are to be treated at Jim's. We know not everyone is an expert at cheesesteak ordering, which is what makes your experience all the more awkward. If you have a moment, could you please...More

Great place! Best steaks in philly! They move through the line really quick! And the employee upstairs on Monday afternoon when I was there was really helpful with getting a table for us. Great cheesesteaks!

On the corner of South St and 4th. This is where the locals go and it's the best! Don't be discouraged by the lines at Jim's Steaks. They move really fast. From order to pay was less than 3 minutes, really. One guy takes and...More

Wow, Cristy. You nailed it! Nothing too fancy in what we do. Just quality ingredients, tasty sandwiches, and friendly, efficient service. This is how it's done and we couldn't have said it any better. Thanks for the write up! Best, Ken

I set out to test Jim's, Pat's and Geno's steaks "wit wiz". Jim's was the best; beautifully chopped meat, soft bun, LOTS of sweet, browned onions and plenty of wiz!

The Barnes is on the parkway about a 2.5 mile walk to us. I would grab a cab or Uber/Lyft.

We are a couple miles away on South St. toward the Delaware River. A thirty minute walk or a 8 minute cab ride.

THIS IS HOW IT'S DONE! In the summer of 1976, my father and a business partner opened Jim's Steaks South St., Bringing a unique art-deco storefront and an even more distinctive cheesesteak to a neighborhood in the midst of a renaissance. Few would have predicted that over the course of nearly four decades the shop would become one of the most celebrated restaurants in Philadelphia. You'll find us on what's known as the "Hippest Street in Town," serving up the finest cheesesteaks and hoagies from the heart of the city that made them famous. Five-time winner of Philadelphia Magazine's "Best of Philly" award and Zagat rated, Jim's is your 'must-have' cheesesteak when only the BEST will do. With well over 200 years of cheesesteak-making knowhow, our staff will make you glad you stopped in each and every time you visit. Whether you're a Philly native or a conventioneer, touring the city's incredible history and museums or just passing through, you'll know you're getting the real Philly cheesesteak experience when you walk through our door. Ask anyone who has tasted our sandwiches! We can't wait to show you how it's done. Our best, Ken Silver Second Generation Proprietor Jim's Steaks South St.
