First time I have ever been face to face with blatant racism what I experience today reflect the complaints I've read about this place I will never return. As much discrimination that Asians face as blacks,I was really shocked but not shocked. Hopefully enough people...will come forward and this will end.More

I visited this restaurant with a friend this evening. The food was a bit overpriced but decent. When I received my bill, I noticed a tip was already added in. I thought tips were optional. Seriously though, I always tip. I usually tip more than...20%. In addition, when I received my receipt there was a charge for using my card. Absolutely ridiculous! This restaurant is an example of "pure greed". I will never go there again!More

There are lots of options for dinner in Chinatown and we're glad we chose Jade Harbor. I'm a vegetarian and the Budha's Delight I ordered was delicious and enough for two meals. Sadly we're in a hotel and couldn’t bring home the leftovers and I...wish we had a restaurant like this at home. The vegetables were perfectly cooked, brightly colored and crisp and in a mild sauce. My husband had Seafood Delight with scallops, squid, crab and shrimp and he loved it. The restaurant is a short walk from the Hampton Inn, Convention Center and if you are in Philly for fun or for business, we highly recommend the Jade Harbor.More

A dependable Cantonese restaurant that offers the standard traditional, old-time standard dishes. The cooking is reliable and prices are reasonable. Set dinners for 4/6/8 persons come with complimentary house soup plus sweet bean soup. Old-timers come here for family gatherings or when not wanting to...cook.More

A wide variety of plates, we were a party of 9 and had so many traditional Chinese dishes served it was mind blowing. Course after course was placed on the revolving tray and you could just spin your way to a new adventure. If you...are willing to try most anything this is the place to go. They also have a complete normal menu with all of the favorites. It can get busy, especially in the later evening.More

We were going to go across the street to David's but it was totally packed with tourists so we settled on this knowing nothing about it. Perfect midnight meal. Crispy garlic chicken was crispy and delicious. My go to shrimp with cashews was in the...best sauce I've ever had. All the diners were asian, not tourists, so when the locals eat there I think that's a great indication it's good! So happy we found it!More

This was a great and authentic experience. More Asians in restaurant than other ethnicities - so, you know it is authentic.

We just tried a random walk-in with this one and weren't disappointed. Spring rolls, chicken soup, Grilled scallops, lots of yummy veggies, General Tso's tofu.... yum!!! Only one thing- the things that were red on the menu with chillies next to them weren't spicy. Like.......not at all. Not even a hint! Even the hot sauce we asked for wasn't hot. If you want heat, I suggest you make that explicit. Otherwise, yum!More

Our family has been going to Jade harbor for the last 11 years. Food is always great and consistent. Favorites are Peking duck, Grouper hot pot, deep fried crabs, clams with minced pork, and fish fried rice. I would have give them 5 stars if...we are just talking about food, however, the restaurant needs a little updating.More

Our food was brought out one thing at a time so my husband had his appetizer and dinner before I had been served anything at all. I ordered pan fried noodles and ended up being served a block of uncooked ramen noodles with chicken and...gravy poured over the top. My husband's General Tsos was decent and the chicken wing appetizer was cooked perfectly. The service was horrible.More

I use to come here a lot. The food is normally good. I normally like to order stuff such as the stewed pork hot pot and salt baked squid which are actually my two favorites here. The one time I decided to bring my friends...who happened to be Caucasian, they wanted to become rude. The moment I go ahead and order my usual, they questioned me as if I did not know what I was getting into and asking "Do you know what that is?" and questioning my friends on spicy level. Yes I understand that they think that "hey, all of these white people, they don't know what they're ordering" since they seem to want to think that way when the ratio is higher for a certain race, but there is no need for dirty looks when also asking for rice. I've gone there many times and it was always tolerable (service) but this time was too far. Also after everything has come out except for the one dish that seemed weird for them (stewed pork hot pot), they used two separate excuses of the chef forgetting, and not having it from two different people. Obviously BS. I like to go out and eat a lot and I know that I should write more reviews on places that are good. I have been working in the restaurant industry for a long time (14 years and I am 28) so I understand the adding the tip since they are usually probably bombarded with drunk people late at night that don't tip. In conclusion, the food was good if i actually would have received both of my orders but I don't think I can go back after this experience. It was not only embarrassing but also a shame. They get two and not one because the food is still good.More

Vast menu. Locals eat here. The last time I ate here was 7 years ago. The food comes out pretty fast and the service was adequate to good. The drinking water glasses left something to be desired, but overall a pretty good restaurant.

We went here with an old friend whom we have known since we were living in Hong Kong 30 years ago. She suggested this restaurant since it is one of the few remaining Cantonese restaurants in Chinatown. We ordered 3 dishes- fried tofu with 3...mushrooms, pork and pineapple, and the spicy stir-fried eggplant- with side dishes of white rice. She ordered in Cantonese from the Chinese menu, our service was prompt and the food arrived quickly. My husband and I felt the rice portion was skimpy, the tofu and mushrooms were tasty but salty, the eggplant dish was good but not spicy at all, and the pork was somewhat disappointing- greasy with too much too sweet sauce. The portion sizes were large and the prices were not bad considering the amount of food we got. All in all- the food was adequate but, given my druthers, there are several places in Chinatown that I would choose over this one. It may be my fault because we didn't order any of the seafood since I am allergic to most of it. My husband thought it was very noisy.More

To be honest I am not an expert in Chinese cuisine. My wife and I picked Jade Harbor by walking through China Town and looking for a restaurant that had a lot of Chinese customers. Jade Harbor qualified. Most tables are large and populated by...Chinese families. The food and atmosphere are exactly what I have experienced when I have been taken out by Chinese friends. Given this I assume the food here is authentic. I found the the menu selection to be varied and different from the usual fare. Preparation was fresh. Sauces interesting and well done. I highly recommend the food. Service was fast but not chatty. If you are expecting the "Hi my name is.... I will be your server" routine you will be disappointed. The atmosphere is family friendly. Think three generations at the table. Not the best place for a quite romantic evening but if you want good Chinese food I don't think think you will be disappointed. I will be going backMore
