We wanted to eat at the Reading Terminal Market but discovered that it closed early on Sundays. This was still open so we decided to eat here. It was close to closing but they sat us. MY husband had the cheesesteak which was very good and I had the buttermilk fried chicken which was excellent but so big - 3... More

Traveling from out of town and met my cousin here who is a local. The food was good but took a while to come out, and our waitress forgot water and to-go boxes we asked for as well as took a while to get us the bill. But the actual food was tasty. I had the breakfast burrito and the... More

I've been staying across the street all week and finally made it over to the Reading Terminal, nice selection of foods for breakfast , the standard fare, servers were pleasant and attentive . I enjoyed my visit and service.

Stopped here for breakfast by myself. Had the breakfast sandwich which was tasty and came with a side of potatoes. I already had coffee with me so I can't comment on theirs. Service was efficient but not super friendly. Bathroom was clean. It was nice to have a booth amid the Terminal chaos. Menu was a double sided single sheet... More

Service was a little slow, but the waitress was nice. Food was just okay. Chicken salad was bland and the grapes inside it were not ripe at all. Others at table liked their food okay, but not great. Was nice to sit down and relax and watch out the window.

We stopped at Reading Market for breakfast the Sunday of Memorial Day weekend because the market was closed on Monday and we heard it was a "must see." Got in at about 9:30 a.m. and found few options for breakfast. The diner didn't look inviting from inside the market, and I was worried about time because there was a long... More

After walking around the Reading Terminal Market to view all the available choices, we decided to eat breakfast at the Down Home Diner. We were seated immediately and the service read good. The waitress was kind enough to explain what corn pone was to my boyfriend. We settled on shrimp and grits was a side of potatoes for him and... More

It's a diner. Nothing gourmet. But what the cooks prepare is tasty and well-portioned. The ladies serving always seem to be there. Not sure if they ever get days off, but they are friendly and efficient.

There was a line, which though inconvenient is a sign of good food. None of us had scrapple, but from previous visits I can attest it is authentic, just not my thing. I had a spinach mushroom omelet which was very tasty.

I recently had breakfast at the Down Home Diner and tried the Buttermilk Pancakes. I had heard from a friend that these were the best she's tasted. I wasn't disappointed. There were 3 large pancakes, fluffy yet cooked well. I had these with coffee which was also strong and just the thing I needed to get me started in the... More
