This is arguably one of the best places in the US for beer. The beer list is extensive and has many of the very best Belgian beers available. The food is also very good--my wife and I have lunch here most times we come to center city. The house specialty mussels are a must (if you like mussels and something... More

We were going to The Kimmel and wanted a fairly quick dinner. Monks is s bar restaurant that specializes in mussels in the Belgian style. We ate at the bar to get out quickly. There was a good portion of mussels but we were slightly disappointed in the 8-9 that were unopened or raw. The fries were tasty and well... More

The beer was very good and the service was excellent. I also enjoyed the humus plate. It would of been nice to have another option to eat that didn't include meat but other than that I would definitely recommend Monks for a date or to go with family.

If you love beer, this is the place to go. My husband and I have been going here for years and the beer selection is always excellent. Even though it was late lunch/early dinner the place was full. We put our name on the list and headed to the back bar. The back bar area is cozy with a full... More

We went to a dinner where they paired Belgian style ales with each of the 7 courses at dinner. The food, beer, atmosphere, and waiter were all phenomenal.

After wandering around Philadelphia, I managed to stumble on this gem. Meant to look like a Belgian pub, they had a great selection of beer and wine. I ordered the Ghent Mussels and LOVED them. Piled high with white wine, garlic, leeks, and bacon served with seasoned french fries. There was so many mussels, I was worried I wouldn't be... More

This place is almost always busy, but worth it. Great selection of beers, a bar in front and a bar in the back, seating in the front, middle and back. You can order a beer from either bar and they will bring it. Staff can get a little surly when the crowd makes it difficult to do their job. Overall... More

Huge selection of craft beers, over 300! Incredible menu, with several selections for mussels. Eclectic and delicious selections, from small bites to full dinners. Belgium influence in the heart of Philly!

We have been stopping by Monks off and on for years. They have one of the best beer selections around - hundreds of them, mostly in bottles, maybe 20 or so on tap. They claim the beers are fair priced, but most people would say they are expensive (you get what pay for though - absolutely fantastic, hard to find... More

Arrived in town for the 50th anniversary of Velvet Underground playing at the GershwinY, and wanted to grab a quick bite. Low & behold, I find I'm right around the corner of this lovely gem. Nice informal pub with an amazing brew list. They just tapped some Pliny....are you kidding me! Fabulous! Cant wait to go back again! Cheers!
