We were seated 10 minutes past the reservation time - it was a Wednesday and every table was filled with customers, as was the bar. The chair I saw in while we waited was among the most uncomfortable I can recall. The seating for dinner was perfectly fine. The server was knowledgeable and professional. The restaurant was loud and dark.... More

My "kids" who are young adults love going here! Small plates are such a wonderful way to dine. The staff is always patient and enjoys talking about the food! We love to eat and the staff loves to watch us throw down. Always busy, upbeat atmosphere.

Budakan's decor is a mix of new and old but truly striking with its boldness and originality. The food was bold and original too. I had never seen anything like the way they made a shrimp dumpling, and it was absolutely to die for. A small thing, perhaps, but truly fabulous. Be aware that this restaurant is very popular and... Took a gamble and stopped in on a Friday night without a reservation. We were seated quickly upstairs after having a drink at the bar. There is a bar both upstairs and downstairs. The beer menu was good, both American and international. The specialty cocktails looked amazing but I prefer beer. The prices for drinks were typical. The interior has... More

The restaurant is beautifully decorated with subdued lighting and a giant golden Buddha The menu is quite extensive We had a variety of cocktails - all good and a zinfandel with the meal which was also very good To start we had a large calamari salad - absolutely superb - different textures and tastes what looked a dauntingly large dish... Great place and perfect food. The atmosphere, music, service was great too. We ordered appetizers shrimp rock bun and ribs. The bun was so soft and the shrimp was crunchy. Love this very much. The ribs was tender and juicy and flavoured. This is the best ribs I ever ate. It was a very delicious appetizers. We skip the entrees... More

Cool ambience, great food, but slow service. Probably advisable to make a reservation beforehand and be sure to pick a good table in the house

As a Sansei (3rd-generation Japanese-American), Having been to many Asian Fusion restaurants (and with a Chinese spouse) I can say that this place has very good (and creative) dishes. The duck salad had a nice mix of textures, and the Dim Sum sampler (Four types: chicken-ginger, edamame, shrimp and vegetable) had a nice variety to it. That all said it... More

This is a cool looking place and the food is wonderful. The only down side for me is that I found it noisy. Won't stop me from going back.
