We stopped by for breakfast prior to setting off for a day of site-seeing. Wow…were we disappointed! The food was not very good and it was quite overpriced. The service was not much better. You can certainly do better in Philadelphia as there are many...other reasonable restaurants to try.More

Stayed at the Kimpton Monaco for a week for son's wedding. Wanted to love this place. LOVED Spencer--so nice and good drinks until we asked for a menu. He called last call for drinks at 9 p.m. and said the kitchen was closed. On a...Tuesday! The paper we received when we checked in said open til 10:30. Closed on Wednesdays. We went to the Renaissance just down the block and got food and drinks! We did have a nice lunch at Red Owl the next day. Delicious truffle fries and good sandwiches. Nice waiter. No Spencer for drinks that night. Then things started going downhill. It's now Thursday and we're spending more time at the Renaissance because: Red Owl and that horrible Stratus are NOT affiliated with the hotel. Therefore, they make their own hours, decisions, etc. My DIL's phone died and they wanted to CHARGE HER $20 to charge her phone. Rogue employee trying to make extra cash. Then we hear these employees get paid more hourly, so they don't care about tips. Their attitude now makes sense. Friend was at another wedding at Stratus and wanted to stay for drinks after. They wanted them to PAY COVER. Lots of missteps. Love the hotel. Dislike the restaurant and bar. Communication between them and the hotel are non-existent.More

We ate here for lunch. The menu was good, but the prices were quite high. I expect it was partly from being in a big city along with the restaurants prime location near Independence Mall. Portions could have been a bit larger, but the quality...was good. Nice atmosphere in the restaurant, but it was exceptionally noisy. I think if they turned the music down a bit it would really help make it easier to have a conversation with the people at your table.More

We stopped in for lunch as it was close to the attractions. Wish we had looked elsewhere. Food was not all the great and overpriced. $5 for a soda that I had to request a refill on.

I am a certified food snob and love this place. Anytime i am in town i plan on at least one dinner here. Try the "Last Word" if you are a gin lover.

Very expensive. Small portion of everything. Even a salad that fit on a desert plate cost $7. Also charge a "surcharge" for the kitchen staff. Ridiculous! My son is an Exec Chef in Boston and they don't even do that. The place is small, loud...and crappy. DON'T GO!!!!More

I wish I could remember all of the names, but then again I would mention every server, waiter, waitress and hostess we encountered. All are friendly. All are well-trained. The menu is decent for a place with an occupancy limit of 68. The pork chops...the first night (we stayed 2 nights in the adjoining hotel) were juicy and had excellent flavor. My friend had them and said the same thing. The ladies liked their crab cakes too. The drinks menu is vast. The wine, not so much, but not bad. Breakfast the last morning was excellent. I ate at the bar and the bartender was attentive and helpful.More

We stayed at the hotel which was okay, the restaurants food was badly seasoned and over priced. We had two meals there, a lunch and a breakfast. Both were subpar. Go to get a good sandwich instead. Don't waist your money here!

The overall experience was very nice. The server was attentive and helpful. The restaurant itself was unique. The reclaimed barn wood ceiling was a cool touch. The food was very good, but definitely over priced. I got the Bujee Burger, which had arugula, bacon, and...their sauce. Again, very good, but not $25 good.More

Perfect spot for an authentic Philly Cheese steak with fries. Close to everything in the historic district. Great Bar tenders. Seems like a lot of locals are here. That's a good sign.

We were greeted by a rude host who said they would be closing at three. It was 2;15. When seated we were greeted by Ligan, our server. A very pleasant and professional young man. The food I ordered, rice pudding never came out so he...cancelled the order. The food runner comes out another ten minutes later with the food and I explained we had cancelled it due to the 3;00 closure. He rudely turned around and threw it on another table whilst giving us a very dirty look. But Logan still had us leave with a smile.More

If I were a chef, I would be embarrassed to serve the meal that we ate at this restaurant, what a disappointment! I’ve eaten better meals in a plane. We paid $170 for a meal for 3 and swore never to step there again.

We usually go here for brunch or sit outside, but at our last visit, we sat inside for dinner. My seat faced the window behind the bar, and as the sun set, it was shining very brightly through the window. My eyes are super sun...sensitive, so I asked the server if they could lower the blinds until the sun was gone, but I was told the blinds were as low as they go. Red Owl Tavern, get blinds that can down lower to block that blinding sun! Oh, the roasted salmon was fabulous.More

I enjoyed wonderful steak tartar when there. Obviously raw beef is gluten free! Chef Jorge Chicas is extremely talented, Like any good chef he should be able to accommodate dietary issues like yours.
