We arrived at the hotel and wanted a special dinner. This place provided it. The ambiance is refined, the food excellent, and our waiter Robert was attentive but discreet. He made the evening go well, and when asked about how a particular dish was prepared, knew exactly what was involved.
We’d return for sure!

We had recognized the decor's similarity to DC Prime Rib (this place used to be part of that chain) and figured out this would be a good place for a light dinner before a concert. Alas, service and food not up to that standard. No offer of bottled water or bread. Good ribeye steak -- tender, flavorful, and cooked as ordered. But the so-called tuna tartare was a disaster Oversized batons of flavorless tuna seasoned only with too much citrus (lime?) and bit of ginger. Nothing like a real tartare preparation ( capers, mustard etc). At a season when fresh artichokes are everywhere in the market, the grilled artichokes came from a can with an unpleasant sour brine flavor; $13 for this. The owner was eager to schmooze with larger parties.

Just average, that is where I have to start. The Rittenhouse Grill is a nice restaurant, clean, a bit fancy, trying hard to have that old school steakhouse feel. My wife and I had dinner here on a Friday night and we were not impressed nor were we disappointed, just kind of okay. I had the prime rib which was again fine, not a lot of flavor and my wife had the filet mignon which was a bit overcooked. For sides, which are family style we had the asparagus, mushrooms and potatoes gratin. They were also ok, nothing jumped out at us. The service was good but not great. For a meal that cost just over $300 dollars we should have been more impressed, sadly we were not.

Although the food was pretty good, I will not give a higher rating do to our server, Djorge L. He was an unpleasant, surly fellow that made us feel as if we were intruding on 'Djorge' time' from the very start. Perhaps asking if there was a cocktail menu is one of his triggers. Excellent prime rib and cold creamed spinach, we weren't the only diners suffering the Djorge treatment - two ladies dining nearby asked for forgotten condiments and paused their meal do to undercooked baked potatoes.
The final indignity was getting the check and being told a gratuity had been already added by the Rittenhouse Grill. (This was not mentioned at the begining of our meal, and it isn't online in the restaurant's menu.) For a party of 3?
The man at the front desk assured us he would keep an eye on Djorge. Having management like that is like a cat having swim fins.

Readers: let me share my experience with inhospitality at Rittenhouse Grill. I leave it to the reader to decide whether my comments are fair. We did not eat there. Or drink there. We wanted to eat and drink there but, despite being seated at a high-top in the bar, our party of four was never served.
We started our evening at Spice Finch, a restaurant in the historic Warwick Hotel. After dinner, we thought we could go to the Rittenhouse Grill for dessert and a round of drinks. Despite there being empty tables in sight, the hostess would not seat us at a four-top table; instead, she directed us to a high top in the bar. As she gestured towards the bar area, her manager came into sight and - with no sign of interest at all - waved us towards the bar, where there were high top tables with two stools. Seeing that there were only two stools, I asked whether the manager wanted me to move the additional seats to the high top. . . I didn't think that we - paying guests - should have to move the chairs. The manager half-heartedly moved two stools to the high-top, clearly annoyed at the request. The bartender told us that he would call a server to our table. We then sat there and waited for a server.
After a few minutes of waiting, a white-jacketed server came to say that - despite our sitting in the bar - he would be happy to take our order. He left our high top and never came back. I surmised - correctly - that he was told by the manager not to serve us. It was the manager's position that, because we were sitting in the bar, we were not entitled to table service. This is a nice restaurant. We were there to have a round of rather pricey after dinner drinks and dessert. We were dressed properly. The manager - Simo Lazizi by name - was rude, disinterested and unwelcoming. We sat. We waited. Eventually we left. I took the manager's name and his card, and I thought I would share this experience of inhospitable treatment with the dining public.

We came here on a Sunday for an early dinner. My husband found that they had a Sunday Special menu with a choice of several of their menu items. Three courses for $65.00 with no corkage fee if you byob.
Instantly upon entering the front door I detected a distinct mold or mildew smell. In fact I commented to my husband about it. We were promptly seated in the rather dimly lit dining room.
Our server arrived and took our cocktail order, delivered our drinks and read us the daily specials. He only gave us the regular menu. We inquired about the Sunday Special menu. He said “You mean the discounted menu?”in a rather snarky tone. He disappeared for about 5 minutes and appeared with one copy of the special menu.
We had clams casino and a Caesar salad to start, followed by the prime rib medium rare and Iberico pork chop medium. The appy’s were just OK. My husband’s prime rib was extremely rare. He had to send it back. After it came back out he said it was good. In the meantime we picked at my pork chop. Again the chop was nearly raw inside. Unfortunately we had eaten a few bites before realizing how rare it was. I was so disgusted that I just ate the mashed potatoes and green beans, which were both very good.
For dessert we had Key lime pie and cheesecake. They were both good.
My mold allergy resulted in a terrible night’s sleep. This is something they should look into.

A true definition of average. Not bad but nothing extraordinary either. The prime rib is their specialty and it was good but not any different from what you'd expect from a good steakhouse.
The best deals seem to be happy hour at the bar. The sliders for $10 looked good, same with the shrimp. Lamb chops where also $10 but a bit overcooked and missing a proper char.
Overall a good experience, and seemed to be a lot of regulars there taking advantage of the happy hour. However as tourists, we won't be back

Rittenhouse Grill is a classic, upscale Steak and Seafood Restaurant in the Warwick Hotel one block off of Rittenhouse Square. The atmosphere is refined with attentive service of the staff and live piano in the background. Cocktail Menu features oversized drinks including my Woodford Reserve Manhattan. We found the wine menu to be extensive by bottle and glass and if you like your white wine served in very chilled glasses as I do you will appreciate this detail. My wife's filet and my Salmon were cooked perfectly as requested and served hot from the kitchen.

A wonderful, clubby restaurant with a piano, great bar, spaciously-arranged tables, and really great menu. We shared the spectacular crab cake appetizer. Crisp, ever-so-light breading, over pure crab meat filling. Moved on to our entrees. I had a luscious veal chop. Cousin had a wonderful rack of lamb, sharing with me a side order of sautéed mushrooms. Great martinis. Equally great bourbons.

The ambiance, service and food are all superb. Every staff person works together to ensure the entire experience is enjoyable and it really works. Louis is a masterful representation of this establishment. Garth stopped by and checked on tables and added the extra touch of service. I can't say enough as this was a most pleasureful dining experience. I will visit again soon.

My husband and I were celebrating a special occasion and wanted a place with nice ambiance and delicious food. . We always loved The Prime Rib at the Warwick and were so sad when it moved to the casino in South Philly. What we didn’t know was only the name was bought out, this was the same restaurant with just a new name. How could we not have known this?! Anyway, we were pleasantly surprised by this happy accident. It was so lovely to be back at one of our fave places in Philly. Same management, same beautiful Hollywood glam decor, piano music, meticulous service and of course one of the best meals in the city. Top notch place!!

Excellent! Decor was high class and beautiful. Ambiance was sophisticated and warm. Enjoyed the bar area and the fact that they had live soft music with piano and base player.
They were very busy. Plush chairs at the table, great menu and the food was excellent.
We had clams casino, Caesar salad to start. Both were exceptional. Followed by the Prime Rib and New York strip. Delicious. I would definitely come back here. It’s pricy, but with it. It’s a special evening here.

Four of us came to Philly to celebrate a friend's 50th bday from DC. We ate dinner here and the food was simply incredible. The drinks were well made, and the service was perfect. The manager also stopped by our table and couldn't have been more cordial and friendly. This experience was truly top notch. I keep telling people that I might have had the best steak of my life here. Next time I am in Philly I will be back!
