It is a casual dining place with tasty food. Their Paani puri and Chole puri are the best. Masala dosas are good too. The service is great and people there are very friendly. Highly recommend this place.

What a deal! I had Samosa, the traditional old school dosa, sambar and curry chutney! It was a simple, tasty ,yummy meal for only 10$! What I ate was pretty authentic food. They do have fusion versions of dosa and I would to try some of those interesting combination . Mind it , if you ask for spicy , they... More

I would have love to give a ratings of 4 or even 5 if the restaurant was served by the previous host (the Andhra guy; I forgot his name). Among two new hosts, one of them (taller among the two) is simply terrible and very ill mannered. He laughs at guests and makes fun of them. Simple advice - don't... More

We went here when we went to downtown! Excellent dosa selection and the sambhar was excellent! I usually need chutney but I skipped the chutney. I got Mysore masala dosa and my husband got the chicken dosa from the build your dosa. Highly recommend this place.

Came by solo for lunch on a Wednesday during rush hour. Ordered Lamb Biryani and although it took awhile to arrive; it was so fresh and hot I couldn't fault them for the wait! It was so delicious! It can be challenging to find real quality in high tourist traffic areas, but this restaurant has it all-quality, flavor and ingenuity!

The food was really nice (especially the chicken 65). The dosa was good too and so was the kathi roll. All in all, for less than $30, this place was true bang for buck.

This self-service Southern Indian food restaurant tucked away among many other and more expensive restaurants offers unique platters and wraps. The wrap I had, with lamb, was very tasty as was the samosa. No frills down to the paper plates and plastic cutlery but this is a great place for the bargain conscious who also want tasty food.

This is a low-key place that serves essentially Indian fast-food. As others have mentioned, don't expect to be eating in style. You order and pick up at the counter and there is a small seating area with plain, plastic chairs/tables. They also give you disposable plastic cutlery. The food itself is quite good, and a very good value. Rice dishes... More

The TripAdvisor reviews for Philadelphia Chutney Company at 1628 Sansom Street, Philadelphia, PA 19103 (www.philadelphiachutneyco.com) are generally positive and so I decided to try it out for myself. However, it was a kind of a let-down for me. There are some plastic chairs and tables where one can sit and eat, but the restaurant does not really qualify for sit-down... More
