We ordered 13 sandwiches today, and paid $130 for them. They were definitely good, but I was still really hungry after eating mine. You shouldn't still be hungry after a $10 sandwich. I had the cheesesteak with peppers, onions and hot sauce. Quite tasty, nice soft roll, I just wish there had been more substance inside of it.

Over many years, I have eaten fried flounder sandwiches on the Delaware, Maryland and Virginia shores. So who would imagine that on the Philadelphia Shoreline, I would find a fried flounder filet sandwich that was superb-everything was just right-freshly fried non-greasy fish, great bread that did not sog out from the added fresh tomatoes and lettuce and tartar sauce. What... More

A decent place for a Philly cheesesteak, but there are plenty of other options that are as good if note better.

I remember the original shanks. The old man would have never stood for a skimpy sandwich. I stopped by yesterday, for a roast pork italian. I paid $9.99. The roll was of good quality, the pork was of good quality as well. The broccoli rabe, was very skimpy. The sharp Provalone was hard to find. The pork was enough for... More

Well worth the drive from the western burbs. Love love love the roast pork Italiano and the chicken cutlet with spinach and sharp provolone. Outdoor seating a plus but the summer sun is brutal, could use a few more shade umbrellas.

It's not bad. I just miss the original . Shank , Whitey, Evelyn , the girls. The picture of Mussolini on the wall. It's just not the same.

The chicken steak and the original chicken sandwich with broccoli rabe are amazing. We add the gravy or tomato sauce to it and its so tasty!!!!

I thoroughly enjoyed my cheesesteak with provolone and onions at Shank's. Yes, I know it's supposed to have Cheese Whiz instead of provolone, but I've always thought Cheese Whiz was kinda nasty, so I've preferred provolone. It complemented the juicy, flavorful meat and bun perfectly. This is the real deal.

As a fourth generation Philadelphian I am ashamed to admit I have never before stopped on Columbus Blvd at Shanks. The little shack establishment has long been known for it hot sandwiches, especially , from what I have heard, their roast pork. The stand is easily parkable right off the road. The line made up mostly of tourists was a... More

FIRST...the 932 S. 10st Street location needs to be deleted (that location is closed as of 2009). Shank's now has two locations. The Perri (original) family operates Shank's Original Uptown at 120 S. 15th Street, Philadelphia and the other location is THIS one at Pier 40. See the web site for the best info. Let me know if you have any questions. My review is for the Pier 40 location.
