This is a great old school Chinese banquet restaurant - and fine to eat at with small groups as well. Much more interesting menu than your average fare with a shanghai-ese focus on seafood and interesting greens. Good unusual dim sum as well.

I can't stress strongly enough how fast you should avoid this place. Weeknight, 7 p.m. and deserted should have tipped us off. We still gave it a shot. Worst service in my life. We had to flag the waiter to take our order. We had...to interrupt a personal phone call at the counter to get napkins and sugar. One appetizer was completely forgotten. We asked twice for carryout containers and I had to walk to the kitchen, excuse myself for interrupting to get our bill, while two guys texted. The food wasn't bad, but one of our party had an emergency bathroom run as soon as we got home. Disastrous to the limit. Don't go here.More

Large open room about a mile south of center city. Simple decor but neat and pleasant. Nice family owns and works in restaurant together with other staff. We have gone 1-3 times per month for weekend Dim Sum. Carts serve variety of generally good, hot...and fresh dishes. Variety a little limited. There is a full menu but we have never ordered from it. The music played in the restaurant is noteworthy for being either good classical music or moderate popular music. It is soothing and pleasant compared to the hard rock, hip-hop or Chinese opera to which we are frequently subjected.More

The Wokano had a more authentic style than most Chinese restaurants. We enjoyed their menu including dim sum, Chinese pancakes, chrysanthemum tea and many other items. After 3 PM the selection of dim sum was somewhat limited but still plenty to choose from. The restaurant...looks like a banquet hall richly decorated. The service is very good and many waiters hardly speak English but they try to be helpful. You can bring your own bottle of wine to accompany your dinner.More

Food's okay, not 100% awesome, but decent. You can probably get better. The winner is that there is parking unlike in Chinatown, where you could drive ages looking for a spot.

A very different way to go for your chinese night out. This is a big banquet style restaurant, perfect for groups of 6-10, not that you can't come here with 2 or do take-out. Everything is clearly cooked fresh and you'll see lots of menu...choices you won't find at your neighborhood takeout. Cantonese means lighter sauces and fresh ingredients and seafood and they have lobsters in the tanks for your pleasure. Xo sauce is good here as its all of the salt and pepper dishes. The pea greens in the picture are a nice side vegetable. Secret: ask for their chinese menu and it will open up dozens of new dishes for you. Come here prepared to take a risk, you won't love every dish.More

Wokano is a great place to gather with friends on New Years Day. Just a few blocks from Broad Street it is the perfect place to eat before or during the Mummer's Parade.

Very good restaurant overall. We find the Cantonese cuisine here really tasty and consistent -- somewhat similar to what one expects at the better eateries in Guangzhou! Prices are quite reasonable for the quality and quantity of the food. The seafood items are the best...choices. Friendly and attentive waitstaff. Restaurant is quite spacious and very clean. Parking can be a problem on weekends: Wokano is located at a busy Shopping Plaza on 11th St and Washington Avenue, several blocks from " Little Italy".More
