Amazing Italian restaurant located at the Village of Arts area in Bradenton! Led by renowned chef Gaetano Canatta, Ortygia specialty is the Sicílian Cuisine, with a menu that is frequently renewed. I’ve had the opportunity of visiting the restaurant 3 years ago while visiting Bradenton...and in that occasion was attracted by the coziness and home feel of the restaurant, the wonderful live music and the deliciousness and authenticity of its menu and the very courteous service. Not to mention that chef Gaetano would momentarily take a break from the kitchen, pull out an harmonica from his pocket and play and sing the blues! Yesterday I was able to finally come back to Ortygia with my wife. We’ve ordered a grilled octopus appetizer: very Tender and well seasoned. Our main dishes were veal Milanese (perfect!) and, by suggestion of our server Ellen (hope I’ve got her name right) we also had the Yellow Edge Grouper. This dish was the highlight of our dinner. I don’t think I ever tasted a grouper so tasty in my life! Chef Gaetano came several times to our table to check if all was to our content! Definitely, Yes, Chef! Our desserts were a black cherry gelato and a very creative and delicious lemon-basil semi fredo! Our meal had the company of a good Sicilian Nero D’Avola red wine! Dining at Ortygia is Highly Recommended not only because of its extraordinary authentic Southern Italian cuisine but also because the establishment’s Chef and its staff make sure you have a truly wonderful experience. If only Ortygia was in Orlando…😊More

My brother surprised me with a visit from NY, it was rainy and we decided to take a walk around to check out what the local arts district had to offer. We happened upon this amazing restaurant, I told him we’d probably have to have...a reservation, but we went in and asked anyway, they had a table for two for walk ins and it had just cleared, we waited less than 5 minutes and were seated. The owner and his partner both came to the table to talk to us, the staff was well versed on the menu and gave us great recommendations. We paired a great Chianti with amazing appetizers and the freshest handmade pasta. We ate it all and no room for dessert, but I’ll be going back soon for it! What a pleasant and great find this evening.More

Based on what we saw in the Trip Advisor reviews we tried this little gem and were thoroughly impressed. As an appetizer we had the Bresaola which was superb. Both the Mrs and I had the Timballo. One word…Exquisite! Wait staff was attentive and the...chef/owner stopped by to ensure everything was good. Definitely a return visit soon!More

What a great restaurant! Our table of eight arrived early before opening and the owner graciously seated us early. The food choices are great and everyone was very pleased with choice. Wait staff was extremely gracious and helpful. If you are lucky you’ll hear some...great blues harmonica from owner. Highly recommended.More

Fantastic dining experience with amazing food and friendly staff! A must try and come back again and again! For appetizers, we had escargot stuffed mushrooms, beet salad and a escarole salad. For dinner, My chicken was so flavorful and the spare ribs were juicy! The...pasta was delicious and everyone in my group was pleasantly full. Dessert was the chocolate pate and various flavors of gelato. We had a nice, relaxing and enjoyable dinner. The Chef came out to ensure all was well! Thank you for a wonderful dining experience! We will be back!More

Fantastic food, wonderful service, and great setting. Penny was our server, and she was great. We had the gnocchi and panelle apps, and the veal and pasta of the day for our meals. Everything was great. We can't wait to return.

Quaint setting, the restaurant is tucked in a neighborhood. The weather was perfect for dining outside in the little backyard. While the menu options were not extensive, we found plenty of choices. Our food was delicious. One reason we chose to eat here is that...they have gluten-free options for both dinner and dessert. So glad we chose to eat here; if we have the opportunity, we will be back.More

It's been a while since my last review and Ortygia continues to delight. My wife and I ate outside in the courtyard last night and were served as long time friends. We kept it simple with Caprese Salad with the freshest tomatoes, Sicilian oregano and...a light, flavorful extra virgin olive oil...this might just be ordinary tomatoes and mozzarella...but is extraordinary when it comes from Chef Guitano's kitchen. He had also prepared a Veal Braciole which was a true delight to the palate. What is not to love with slices of veal rolled and filled with prosciutto, pecorino, black Currants and Italian parsley. It was so tender and, dare I say, magical in its flavor. A bottle of Primativo wine and a shared dark chocolate pate dessert....ahh heaven on earth. The menu changes weekly so don't miss this week's. It always feels so good to be greeted by Chef Guitano, April and Penny...this is the best dinner, with family, in the garden.More

Chef Guy served us an awesome dinner - Timballo for my husband, and a vegetarian pasta for me with roasted red pepper and cream sauce. Best pasta dish I’ve had! We are looking forward to our next dinner there...
