This review is not done in haste as our service date was February 27, 2021. We have frequented Apollonia Mediterranean Grill since 2016 and always had great food and excellent service. Our average ticket for 2 - $151.06 (not including tax/tip). This trip we celebrated...my husband’s birthday with our adult children and my 88-year old mom. We were seated outside at 5:30. Ordered multiple appetizers, several bottles of wine and mixed drinks. Our dinner was rung in at 5:46 per the ticket, Ashley was our server. The appetizers came out in a reasonably timely fashion. I also ordered an additional $50 of food for takeout, which we never received. We didn’t see our main entree for at least 50 minutes. We also didn’t have anyone stop by our table and check on us, ask if we needed anything, check on water/drinks or keep us abreast of our order. Tables around us were sat, served, and left, while we watched. I finally asked for Ashley to please come out and check on the food. She finally came out and said the food is on its way and we again waited about 30 minutes longer. When our entrees finally came out, they WERE STONE COLD! The lobster tail was so cold it looked fake! Mom’s lamb kebab and husband’s halibut & shrimp were inedible. My son’s Grecian burger was literally clotted. It’s obvious our order was forgotten — not even kept under a warming light! My daughter (who has been in the restaurant industry for over 20 years) asked to have the food reheated and brought back out. The food arrived back at the table within 7 minutes, which is not enough time to reheat all 3 entrees – even in a microwave. When she asked for the food to AGAIN be reheated, Ken the bar manager argued that it didn’t need to be. By this time, the restaurant was buzzing and super busy and it was obvious they were sorely understaffed. The kitchen was frantic, managers were sweating, stressed and disorganized trying to get to all the tables. When the food came back cold the second time, (nothing was done to warm it up), she went inside and asked for a manager. Ken was also the manager on duty, so she asked the hostess if there was another manager to speak with. Ken came from behind the hostess stand and said, " I AM THE ONLY MANAGER, MY BROTHER AND I RUN THIS PLACE AND ANYTHING YOU SAY TO HIM WON'T MATTER." She asked him to please step back, then asked the hostess if she would please write down the name and contact of another manager to speak with at another time. During this time, Ken lost it and kept yelling at my daughter at the hostess stand. All she was asking was that our food be hot. She was not up in his face or yelling, just trying to relay our concerns as paying customers. We have never been treated like this EVER! At this point, everyone wanted to go home, so I walked in and spoke to Ashley if I could please speak to Ken. When he came over, I extended my hand to shake his as a truce and requested the check please. He said he comped the wine, which I appreciate, but no apology. However, when he came to deliver our check, I was told Ashley was too afraid to come to our table (even though I already spoke with her and she apologized for the evening). My husband was now stressed and said, "all we wanted was an apology for our food, and you as the manager never did that." Ken then stated, "YOU ARE TO LEAVE MY RESTAURANT." My husband in total frustration replied, "IT'S NOT YOUR RESTAURANT. IT’S THE OWNER’S RESTAURANT!” In my whole life, I have never been kicked out of a restaurant! This was so horribly embarrassing for us as well as the other patrons sitting nearby. The whole experience ruined our dining experience as well at theirs. It's very sad to see this type of unhinged behavior from someone who has served us several times in the bar area with wonderfully professional service and a great personality. I understand the stress he was experiencing by being so understaffed, but you don’t take it out on the customer. We just wanted the same wonderful food we always got. This evening was a truly sad and bizarre event. When we got home, we called the Apollonia’s on 41 and had a lengthy conversation with the owner Eddie describing what happened. He apologized and said he would speak with Ken and give us a call back. Eddie gave a gaggle of excuses for the poor service including being very understaffed. THEN APOLOGIZE FOR THE POOR SERVICE DUE TO BEING UNDERSTAFFED! WE UNDERSTAND YOU’RE SHORT BODIES LIKE EVERYONE ELSE!!! It’s okay. We just wanted to hear, “I’m sorry. How can we make it right?” for a less than stellar evening. A week later my daughter called again and spoke to Anna, his wife. She again promised to call and directly apologize to my husband, but the call never came. Eddie has yet to call and say, “How can we make it right?” I guess they can afford to lose good customers. We’ll frequent our local Mediterranean restaurant from now on, the Riviera Mediterranean Grille on State Road 70. They greet us warmly, act like professionals and the food is excellent and hot!More

Kind of hard to judge a place based on a small lunch order, but everything was right about the place. The food was good and tasty, and had the correct flavorings and the atmosphere was relaxing after a busy morning. We had the Spread Trio:...Hummus, Tzatziki and Eggplant; Fried Calamari; and a Greek Salad (we shared everything). Service was good and we would revisit if in the area again.More

Good solid Greek dining. Nice ambiance plus nice covered outdoor seating. During Covid they had a very nice curb service for takeout. Menu is good, ambiance good, service is good.and prices are fair. This is the place for Greek dining.

Went here this week. We had high hopes that were dashed a bit. The service was bad, the food was good but not exceptional, like I thought. They were busy but shouldn’t have been that slow.

If you like Greek food, this is the place for you. I had Moussaka. It was delicious. Baklava for dessert is not to be missed.

I called Apollonia Grill and personally made an Easter dinner reservation for 4 people at 5:00. My wife and I were looking forward to a great holiday dinner with friends. To my astonishment, we arrive at the restaurant at 5:00 and see a closed for...Easter sign on the door. What a shameful way to act toward your customers. I called the restaurant today to find out what happened and they acknowledged they took the reservation but just said we were not open on Easter. Would it have been so difficult to call me and say we made a mistake taking the reservation and we won't be open , giving me time to book another restaurant? Needless to say this was a horrendous experience and we will not be customers of this restaurant and urge you also not to go there if this is the way they treat customers.More

We haven't been to this restaurant in 2 yrs. & it's still fantastic!! We happened upon the Prix Fixe on Monday evenings. What a deal!! For $22.00 p.p. appetizer/entree & dessert. They're not small portions, either. We love this place!!

The food is excellent at this restaurant no doubt but they need to improve their customer service on takeout. They are so slow at it and actually forget the customers order. Who does that?

I made a reservation for an outside table for 2 people for 5:30. I was told by the manager on the phone that there would be no more than a 20 minute wait at that time. After mentioning that there were 3 of us and...45 minutes of waiting, a table was ready for 2 people. Since we added a third person they told us that they couldn't add a chair to the table since they had no extra chairs. I asked to speak to the manager who said they would put an extra table outside for us. 15 minutes later there was no extra table, no extra chair, no apology and a great deal of attitude on the part of the hostess. This has been my favorite restaurant for many years but I will never return!More

We live in Venice so don't come up this far very often. Eating at Apollonia's is a nice reward. Our server, Jill, was prompt, organized, friendly and responsive. She complimented the wonderful lunch we had a couple hours ago. My wife started with the bean...soup, followed by the proscutto and arugala flatbread with an order of dolmades. Her Armenian heritage kicks in a places like this. I started with the grilled octopus. It's so tender and flavorful and filling. I had to quit eating before the lamb shank with mashed potatoes, bright green beans and shaved grilled carrots were served with a sprig of fresh rosemary. The lamb fell off the bone. This is a special place I hope you will try. You'll be pleased.More
