I have been coming here for about 35 years, it is over 70 years old and it never disappoints. Steak is my favorite meal and their cuts are fantastic, especially their strip and filet mignon. Their sides include fantasy crispy fried onions, stewed tomatoes (they are better than you think), a house salad consisting of head lettuce and their own dressing (skip it even though the dressing is great and get the even better Mesclun salad), either a baked potato or hashed browns (both delicious) and as an appetizer I recommend their sweet fried bay scallops. No desserts, no credit cards, no reservations- just relax and have a drink at the bar while you wait to be seated, for there is no other steakhouse exactly like this one. Oh and a bowl of delicious breads with butter are the first item you will be served. There is only one Pine Club in the world, you must try it.

After 7 decades and a pandemic this fabulous steak house still rules! We arrived and were directed to the end of the bar to order a drink and wait for a table. The wine pours of the house cab are generous - we were impressed! We had a short wait for a table. Our waitress has been working there for 20 years and was very helpful and efficient. I ordered the filet and lobster with the house salad, stewed tomatoes, and a baked potato. Dinner comes with roll and they offer a variety of yeast, rye and seeded choices. My husband ordered the rib eye with hash browns, corn and the salad with ranch. The meat was cooked perfectly and comes with delicious onion straws. My lobster was fresh and flavorful. The only slight mistake was we asked for new corn that was hotter. The whole meal was memorable and we will be back!

We visited recently re-opened Pine Club, which we have been for special occasions for over 40 years.
Food was good, except the porterhouse I ordered was very thin cut (not was I expect from a premier steak house). I was also concerned about their apparent lack of proper booth spacing

I've lived in SW Ohio for 20+ years and never heard of the Pine Club so when a friend suggested it for dinner, I was willing to give it a try. You must know they don't take reservations or credit cards. Upon arrival the the front door was jammed like a college bar and upon getting inside it was loud like one too. The tables and booths are very close together; uncomfortably so. Not sure how they pass a fire inspection. Our party of four was seated in a booth and the hostess offered to take our coats; a very nice gesture and service. The booth was cramped for four people. The two of us sitting on the outside had to get out our phone flashlights to see the menu because it was so dark. The waitress came by quickly and asked what we wanted to drink. No drink menu was offered but we received one when asked. I ordered a double bourbon on the rocks, and it was a generous pour filling nearly 3/4 of a high ball glass even after rooming many of the ice cubes. With all the dishes on the table there was really no room to put the appetizers we ordered. After we ordered our meals the waitress delivered a bread basket that looked nice, but all the bread was cold. I ordered the lamb chops and others at the table ordered steaks. All the dinner came with a salad. The salad was a bowl of iceberg lettuce with a tablespoons of shredded carrots. Very blah for a steakhouse. My lamb chops were terrible. When they first came out they looked like grilled short ribs. They were cooked to medium rare as I asked but it was hard to eat and the flavor was flat. My wife's filet was good but not great. They don't offer dessert so after settling the check we left. I can say I've been there but will never go back

Dated menu, dated decor, horrible service. We were very excited to go because we had heard such wonderful reviews over the years. It's hailed as one of Dayton's best restaurants, and I honestly have no idea why. The filet mignon was the weakest quality steak we've ever received at an upscale venue. It's iconic, for sure. If you'd like to travel back in time and dine in the 40s, it's an experience! But it should never be held to today's contemporary dining standards - that's just laughable. I'm more disappointed in our friends for ever misleading us to believe it's worth the time. Decade after decade of families all nodding in agreement that this is somehow The Place To Be, I don't think people have really dared to look at it for what it is today. Yuck.

The steaks are just amazing and you have to get them but also the scallops are so sweet and melt in your mouth. The perfect appetizer, just so delicious. The wine list is fantastic. Even the stewed tomatoes are amazing and I'm not a true tomato fan. The wait is long and they don't take reservations but worth every minute of the wait.

The customer service was fast and friendly and the restaurant boasts the title of “1 of 2 of the best steak houses in the US”. I had the fillet mignonette-cooked perfectly but the meal was by no means among the best I’ve ever had. No big deal, it was still good. However out comes the check and I ask about a dessert menu and they don’t serve dessert. Ok, fine, but then they don’t take credit cards at all! No where could I find that posted, it would have been good to know as we are traveling! My husband to go across the street to a gas station ATM I’m a down pour to get cash out so we could pay our bill! Seriously, let people know that up front!!

This is one of my favorite restaurants. The setting is quirky, comfortable and unpretentious. The food is great, and very modestly priced. I had a bone-in-filet which was large and tasty, and it was accompanied by a salad, a vegetable and a potato dish for less than $52. Service was friendly and quick.
One tip: Make sure to order the stewed tomatoes. They are tremendous.

Who still takes checks… the PINE CLUB. On a different note, the food. Salad was basic, but steaks were decent. However, slightly relating note, the service was iffy, as they couldn’t butterfly a steak, because it was “thin” but it didn’t have a bone in it, so it shouldn’t matter. The waitress was also slightly hyperactive in serving, not to mention she claimed to work for 30 years and believed not to be able to butterfly a steak before asking the chef. Also, I know this is a characteristic, but the dim lights just aren’t attracting or even pleasant. Reminded me of a dive bar. Honestly, it’s time for an update. Steak was decent, nothing else.

Sad to have experienced such a venerable place go low. Sure costs are up and prices follow, but why scrimp on portions too? The creamed herring serving was paltry with no piece larger then bit size. Porterhouse was really a T-Bone. Price for two was $100, with tip, but no alcohol.

We frequently eat at Pine Club and it is always fabulous! You can almost imagine old world gangsters hanging out drinking martinis. My husband travels extensively and this is his favorite restaurant in the world. We love waitresses Theresa and Candy. They have a superb steak and lobster tail. I love their Caesar salad. They have a nice selection of wine without the big markups you experience at most steak houses! They don’t take reservations, so everyone has to wait, usually at the bar, even George W Bush had to wait 😂! They also don’t take credit cards, so bring cash or do yourself a favor and open a house account because you’ll want to come back!

Fabulous steaks. wife and I split the Porterhouse for 2 and it was cooked to perfection (medium rare). The other couple had a fillet and a strip and they were cooked pefectly as well. Tremendous flavor.
1 person had the veg of the day (corn) pretty sure it was from a can-so nothing special. The stewed tomatoes were a little too sweet for most of us but some enjoyed.

This is a great steakhouse located in a 40’s era building that would work well as a northern Michigan hunting lodge. The food is great, and the service was friendly and attentive.
No trip to Dayton is complete without a visit to the Pine Club.

Upon arrival the wait staff said it would be about 30min wait, eased up to the bar very well stocked of all brands 4 bartenders to meet the demand, fast courteous. Once seated in a booth quick service. All the food was fresh well prepared and presented. Our waitress was very attentive. This is a place that when in town you must visit. They only accept cash check the menu before going to make sure you take enough with you.

The ambience is classic. We came on a Saturday at peak time. We waited an hour and 20 minutes for our table which was the projected wait time. Since it is summer, there was outdoor seating where you could take a drink or just wait outside if you chose. We decided to wait inside and took a seat at the bar after about five minutes. The bartender service is excellent. They have a nice selection of wines and bottled beers. They prepare mixed drinks. Canned Coca Cola products are available. It is all cash. I had a glass of Moscato, which was refreshing and a generous pour.
The bartender continued to refill our water even after we cashed out.
Our waitress Holly was attentive. my husband had to double lobster tails which were rock lobsters and delicious. I had the strip steak which was perfectly prepared. Their steak sauce and house dressing are top-notch.
$140 for the meal with one alcoholic beverage and one soda. Not counting tip.
