Only a small sign on the building identifies this restaurant. Watch carefully or you will drive right past it. The service is excellent. There are both tables and booths, plus chairs in a waiting area. The menu is extensive. Everything arrives fresh and hot. Nice selection of items. Generous servings. Their chips and salsa are good, too. If you love iced tea, then order soda, as their iced tea is from a fountain.

You would drive by and miss this gem if you didn’t know. From the friendly staff in this family owned business, reasonable prices, and incredible fresh authentic Mexican food, this is a local treat not to be missed.

Driving up north on Hwy 101, had a craving for great Mexican food. Decided to stop at one of my favorites. Chips & salsa, taco's for me, my wife tried the goat soup special which she loved. Almost forgot to mention the ice cold draft beer. Could have stayed all afternoon but had to hit the road

Ventura known for many different Mexican delicacy and they are everywhere. I tried plenty and somehow I have continue to return to this place. Each person has different taste and palates and this is the one for me. My favorites is always been the Carnitas w corn tortilla or any of the street side small tacos. For me as the food traveler THiS is the best Mexican Restaurant in Ventura!! #Bravo

My brother-in-law recommended this Mexican restaurant in Old Ventura on the Avenue. Yesterday he took us there for a late lunch. The cafe does not look like much from outside, but we were so surprised and pleased with everything.
The co-owner Lilly was so attentive and said to order anything we wanted and they would prepare it, even if not on the full menu. I did, 2 garnished taquitos and 1 fish taco with beans and steamed tortillas — so much food and so good! I ordered a Mexican beer and Lilly brought me a Draft Modelo served in a cold, frozen heavy glass goblet. So nice! Noticed they have a full bar just around the corner past the kitchen, so this place is great for mixed drinks as well.
We will definitely go back!

A good friend took us here for breakfast on a beautiful sunny day and I am so glad we went.
Inside the restaurant is well decorated and we sat in a comfy booth.
There is a great choice of food on the menu, but I loved my Huevos con Machaca which was really fresh and well made.
Lovely coffee and lots of it.
Prices very reasonable for the quality of the food.
The bar looked very inviting but it was a little early for us!
Special thanks to Lily for looking after us so well.
A lovely breakfast.

This is not the place to bring people who are looking for a visual experience. It is a down to earth great restaurant with food that is good and dishes that are not served in more Americanized Mexican restaurants. They have a particularly good menudo. It is family friendly and reasonably priced with generous helpings.

Small unassuming place a couple of blocks up Ventura Avenue. Very personable, family run place. People love the giant Michiladas. Funny thing, they have 3 IPAs on tap, but not even Pacifico in a bottle! Food is good value with customizable combination plates. Be careful, not open for dinner on Saturday or Sunday. Only thing so far that I didn't like was the beef tamale. It is a wet one with ?enchilada sauce on it-- not what I like in a tamale.

This family run Mexican restaurant serves fish tacos only when a fresh catch is available-- which is almost always! The only bad thing is that the family claims Saturday night for themselves and this clean gem is not open then. Great frozen mugs of tap beer, and a complete menu...and they welcome families. This is our go-to place for a casual meal or even a special celebration.

Ok, where to begin? I tossed and turned whether to rate this place 3 or 4 stars. As far as the food is concerned, it is good. It's not the best but certainly above average (hence 4 stars).
It's not like I don't like the place but would I come here with family and friends for a night of Mexican food...most likely not.
This is more like a lunch place with good food and great customer service. The prices are slightly high for my taste but not a wallet breaker. Seating is very limited if it's during a rush hour and parking is extremely limited.
This is obviously better than Mexican fast food or places like Yolanda's so please don't come with super high expectations but do expect a good meal.

The very best in Mexican food at a spot recommended to us by a local. The service is exceptionally friendly, which was icing on the cake for a great meal.
Located in a nondescript building (you can easily miss it!), this is a hidden gem of culinary delight. Very good shrimp tacos, salsa and the refried beans are some of the best anywhere.
Oh yeah, their beers are served in very big glasses.
