Bland pho at easily double the cost of your standard pho places. Only included herb was cilantro. Virtually no shrimp. Not going back

This place was crazy busy for a Sunday afternoon. The waiting line was out the door. Fortunately the still had Caldo de Res so I had it para llevar and the Carne Asada with flour tortillas. Yummy!

My friend and I enjoyed a delicious lunch at Photastix on George Dieter. She had egg rolls and I had grilled pork spring rolls and the regular sized bowl of chicken pho. Both were excellent and the soup was warm and filling. Loads of rice...noodles and shredded chicken with bean sprouts and herbs to add to the soup. Tasty and filling.More

I spotted Photastix driving past and it looked clean, modern and inviting. I ordered pho (pronounced fer) a traditional Vietnamese soup with noodles, rare beef, tripe, beef tendon, brisket, noodles, onion and herbs. I asked for the traditional side bowl of Vietnamese fish sauce with...chopped Birdseye chili to spice it up. The soup was the worst I have ever tasted, and I had my first bowl of pho in Vietnam more than 40 years ago. The broth tasted more like tepid dishwater than the traditional hearty beef broth of an authentic pho. The normal side dish of bean sprouts, basil, Vietnamese mint and a slice of lime contained only some washed out bean sprouts and a small quantity of chopped coriander. The fish sauce the waiter bought me was some sort of Chinese plum sauce and instead of red Birdseye chili I got green jalapeño peppers. Anyone who says they enjoyed this slop has obviously never tasted the real thing. Photastix bills itself as serving authentic Vietnamese cuisine. I should have been warned when I saw "Pho Burger" on the menu. Ho Chi Minh would turn in his grave.More
