We'd never been to Walter's Green Room/HCM and they were offering a special 5 course menu for New Years that we were excited to try. The Green Room itself is a small coffee shop/lounge situation with a bar, a couple conversation circles but only a...few tables that were set for larger parties. I was curious where they were going to sit a couple, and our host took us out into the Market. Various tables were set up and down the center aisles, ours was next to shelves with pasta and sauce. I don't know if this is their normal set up or if it was this way for the holiday crowd. It was certainly a bit odd, but also kinda fun and we were here for a new experience. In a few minutes of being seated the lights came down, the candles were lit, the wine was poured and the fact we were in the middle of a grocery store just faded away. The service all night was excellent, the crowd really started gathering about 6ish and they were working hard, but never missed a beat. Okay, what you really want to know about is the food. Again this was a special holiday menu, we have yet to try the regular menu, but we will be back to discover it. For this night, the appetizer was a shrimp in patte on a cracker. Sounds simple but whatever was in that patte was totally delicious. Next course was soup or salad, we went with the soup, cream of mushroom. It was rich and yummy. We both agreed we'd never had better. Next course we went for was a scallop dish. Small scallops served with some kind of cheese and bacon deliciousness served in a nest of crispy potato sticks and topped with just a bit of cranberry. It was amazing to look at and just as amazing to eat. Next, the entree. I went for Veal Scallopini Marsala, she went for the Chateaubriand. The veal was flavorful and the crust stayed crispy in the sauce. The Cheateau had a wonderful smoke to it and was melt-in-your-mouth tender. My wife said its was "absolute perfection" and that is saying something. Everything was perfectly cooked and perfectly seasoned including the mashed potatoes and asparagus on the side. We've eaten at many of the fine dining establishments in Little Rock over the years but this was the best meal yet. Love it! We will be back.More

We came here one evening and expected a restaurant. This was more of a coffee shop type atmosphere with a few tables for dining between the guests who were there drinking coffee an other things. The 3 stars are for the coffe shop, not for...the restaurant!More

I am here for a meeting and time changed. Looked for a coffee shop and saw Walters and the Heights Market. They were not open yet but brewed me a cup of great coffee, let me sit in the lounge and use the wifi, checked...on me and generally made me feel like I was home. I love this place and wish I could move it to Minneapolis.More

Had very nice lunch at HCM today. The Reuben with fruit was especially good. Their lobster entree was equally delicious. I highly recommend this restaurant.

We loved the steak at the former Terry’s at this location that closed a while back so we were anxious to try the latest incarnation. We actually went twice, starting our morning with coffee and eggs. I’m picky about coffee but it was good and...the atmosphere was peaceful and welcoming. Free wi-fi available. We were back that night for drinks, (Eagle Rare on the rocks- no one big cube available). Mrs. Ned had and excellent shrimp scampi with succulent shrimp and a not too creamy sauce. I had the grilled fresh lobster which was as good as one could expect, prepared simply with butter and a really nice wild rice pilaf. Others enjoyed the pork chop and chicken. The burger was only ok. All in all, very nice. We’d happily eat here again. Corkage $20.More

We had a great meal last night at HCM. They were very accommodating with my order, which was a fantastic Quinoa and Kale salad with an addition of a perfectly cooked piece of salmon. My husband had the lobster, also delicious. Solid Pinot Noir. Service...and setting; lovely!More

My family enjoyed dinner in The Green Room at HCM. I suggest making a reservation as it is appears to be a popular dinner spot. We were immediately seated. Service was spot on. They were very accommodating with making kids dishes for our three children....I ordered the walleye. It was a nice sized portion that was perfectly cooked. Overall this is a great dining option at a locally owned restaurant.More

Yes, we'll go back. Even if the food hadn't been especially noteworthy (but our lunches yesterday were, in fact, good), we'd go back because of the kindness and welcoming treatment we received from the young woman who waited on our table. It does make a...difference: to be greeted with a smile, to be asked with non-intrusive interest about the wedding bands you're both wearing, to be told that dinner is also good and handed a dinner menu to take home, while the person waiting on you tells you he or she will be there if you return on Sunday evening. Not all restaurants in Little Rock go out of their way to welcome people who don't belong to their inner circle, especially gay couples. It makes a difference to be treated this way by restaurant staff, especially after the man who brought water to the table grumbled out an incomprehensible response to a question about the soup of the day, while looking elsewhere and not at us as we asked the question. And the food was good, by the way — the hamburger my husband had, the Caesar salad I had dressed with a homemade dressing, and not with chemical-tasting bottled stuff that too often passes for Caesar dressing in many establishments these days. The only fault I could find in the dressing was that it was either devoid of or light on anchovy flavoring. The dinner menu — the fried chicken with collards, the fish and chips — looks good. We'll be back.More

We really loved the atmosphere here. Only about 10 tables, mainly 2-top and 4-top, nicely spaced. The "Green Room" is painted accordingly - dark green/very classy with a super high, wood ceiling and gorgeous decorating - think Restoration Hardware Catalog. Loved that we could enjoy...such ambiance without it being stuffy - OK to come in here and order prime rib in jeans or shorts. Would make a lovely location for a private party. We split the Lobster Cake appetizer. Huge chunks of fresh lobster with a hint of filler and some crunchy celery with a wonderful sauce. Unfortunately there was no bread to sop up that yumminess. 45 minutes later our entrees came out. Not sure what took so long as we were the first ones in the restaurant. We did see a couple of Bite Squad orders go out ahead of our dinner. It was worth the wait, however. His Prime Rib was a whopper - well over 18 oz, at least 3 inches thick, bone in. The quality of the meat and the Au Jus were beyond amazing. Only thing missing...bread to soak up the sauce. I had the Sea Bass special. An incredible piece of fish, lightly glazed and pan fried - just delightful. The side of rice a bit chewy, but the fat, juicy, seared asparagus to die for. Wish there was a better wine selection to complement the great food. Desserts were AH-mazing. He had the warmed apple pie with vanilla Loblolly ice cream, and I went for the heavily frosted Carrot Cake with salted caramel ice cream. Hope next time we can get some of the bread pudding before it sells out! Very good service and reasonable price for quality of the food. Next time I want to make a meal of the appetizers!More

Have eaten here 2 times in the last week. It’s a gem! Small but tasty menu. First time I had the Ceasar Salad with shrimp and it was absolutely awesome. Yesterday I had the ham and Swiss on sourdough bread with the neatest potato wafers....They called them home fries but they actually were little round thin wafers. Seasoned perfectly!! Our server was fantastic -she is one of the best around!! The restaurant is connected to the Heights Market (Terry’s). Love this place!!More

Owners continue to experiment with formula. Chef, food and wine list seem settled. This week, the dining room moved to the smaller previous pizza joint on the south of the building.Tall ceilings provide much better acoustics, and subdued lighting helps provide a calming note. One visit...makes one a regular . We were greeted at the door by Eric the owner. Sam, new seasoned head server deft and great hire. I never get meatball appetizers, but now am hooked on these w/ a delicious ginger glaze. Shrimp and grits can be a bland excuse for 'Southern' but this is more like point. Special of baked cod with roast tomato very good. Too full for dessert. The dining room and kitchen connect to the upscale grocery and meat market. Ask for it and they will cook it. I suggest the owners hold what they got here, and continually tweak, but no big changes. I like this!More

We drove to LR from Hot Springs to meet our daughter and husband. All of our group were eager to try this restaurant. What a delight! From the ambiance to the live jazz duo playing during our meal-it was perfect! Intentionally, the four of us...ordered different entrees so we could sample many things. All were tasty but I would say top three were the pork chop, shrimp & grits and the lemon tarragon chicken. Each arguing "mine is the best". The Caesar salads were crisp and lightly dressed and plenty big enough to share. For the dessert the chocolate peppermint torte and salted caramel ice cream did not disappoint. Eric the owner came by and said hello (fellow U of A grad) and made sure our experience was all it should be. We loved our evening and will be back.More

Wife took me to soothe a terrible week. The owners, manager, and chef are hands on, and make sure everything is just right, without being intrusive. The Restaurant is attached to high end grocery with excellent meat and fish.
