A wonderful restaurant has shuttered its doors. This was an outpost of the Edi and the Wolf empire that reminded me of Vienna. R.I.P. Freud, mein Freund.

We recently had lunch at Bar Freud on LaGuardia Place. It was recommended by a friend. It is Austrian themed food. We both had the Weiner Schnitzel. It was really good. It is a pounded piece of pork that is dipped in egg and fried....More

The Burger and avocado, egg sandwich were delicious. Unfortunately service was ... really off! I won’t go into it, I just could not stay seated despite not receiving the rest of our food. The other reviews are great and for that I didn’t give it...More

Have been 2x and both were excellent. Salad is wonderful and generous as are the brussels sprouts. Consider sharing so you can taste more. The Schnitzel is truly original and so good, French Fries are also wonderful. There was a special chicken dish which was...More

Chose this restaurant randomly and really glad we did. The food was great and some nice outdoor tables. Good beer too.

I'm not a fan of schnitzel, but decided to try the pork schnitzel (there is a choice of veal or pork), and it was excellent. My wife had the branzino and loved it. We also had a well priced bottle of a delicious, Austrian Riesling....More

Freud is one of my favorite places in the village. The spatzle is a must get. The scrambled eggs were simple but perfectly cooked. The side salad with it was tasty. Lemonade was delicious. Friendly staff. Nice ambience. Never loud or too busy.

The twin of Edi and the Wolf (East Village), this is more of an quiet, Viennese brasserie. The food is meat-centric but vegetarians do fine. The wine list is small and oriented toward German and Austrian wines. The cocktails are outstanding. Generally a cozy, quiet...More

Greenwich Village
Commonly known as “the Village” to New Yorkers, it was
here in Greenwich Village that both 1960’s counter
culture and the LGBT movement were born. Famous for
its bohemian past, head to Washington Square Park to
get a feel for this diverse and energetic
neighborhood. You’ll find NYU students, street
performers, skateboarders, kids frolicking in the
fountain, and locals relaxing and playing chess.
