My friend and I came in on a Friday night at around 6:30. It was going to be an hour wait for a table, which would have meant that we'd miss happy hour, which is 5-7. We weren't about to have that so since I...arrived first, I grabbed the last two seats at the bar. It's not the comfiest for a meal but it's fine if you're just grabbing a few drinks and some HH snacks.
These HH snacks entail $2.50 fish tacos, $4 fried clams (3), $5 fried oysters, and select $1 oysters and clams. The fish tacos are definitely some of the most inexpensive fish tacos I've ever eaten (not inclusive of fast food chains). It's also probably some of the blandest. Even the sriracha (?) couldn't make up for that. There were 4 different types of $1 oysters on HH that night. I can't remember which ones but they all tasted pretty similar, except for one. There was this one type that was super huge. It looked almost unnatural and I wasn't even sure if it looked fresh enough to be eaten raw. Thankfully, it did not result in any food poisoning. The only item I actually enjoyed were the raw clams, but I tend to like raw clams better than raw oysters so I might be a bit biased.
Drinks are $6 drafts, $8 martinis, and $8 glasses of house wine. The bartender was really nice and allowed us another happy hour round of drinks even though it was about 15 minutes over. I'm not sure I'd really come back for happy hour since the only thing I liked were the clams. If you want some HH oysters/clams, you're better off heading to the Mermaid Inn a few blocks over.More
We tried Edwin and Neal's Fish Bar for a family meal. The place is in an exciting neighborhood. It was just a few weeks old when we found it. Service was prompt and friendly. Reasonable prices and high quality food. Very enjoyable. Shared the calamari...appetizer. Crunchy goodness with a terrific, tangy sauce. A few choices of fish grilled on top of a creamy polenta and veggies really hit the spot. Drinks were pleasantly priced.
Hope to return soon!More
