This is the second time we have been here. Ordered seared scallops, empanadas and black bean soup as appetizers and they were great. For the main courses, we ordered the black sea bass and suckling pig. The sea bass was excellent but we were a bit disappointed with the pig as the best part..i.e.the skin is missing. We were told... I visited with family. This was my third time here since I live in the neighborhood. Nice place especially if you can sit in their back patio but they need to work on improving their food. Cuban food is delicious but food is mediocre at best. The lechon was dry with no seasoning, the bistec palomilla was mediocre, the beans... More

Having lived in Miami for the past 30 years, I have had my fair share of Cuban food. We went there on Saturday afternoon and sat in the cozy terrace. We ordered a couple of Mojitos. They were ok. Not too sweet, which I like, but not very flavorful either. To accompany the drinks we ordered some Fried Yuca and... More

I might be to blame for my disappointment in Havana Alma de Cuba. On our last trip to New York we visited a very well regarded Cuban restaurant for weekend brunch and had a fantastic meal and experience. I looked to replicate that this time and my research took me to Havana Alma de Cuba. On paper it looks like... More

This is restaurant is one of those rare findings of real Cuban cuisine in United States. This is the real thing. Killer mojitos. Ropa vieja (pulled beef) served in a plantains banana basket artistically made. Moros (black beans and rice) at the Cuban taste. Breaded steak for my companion, delicious. Pastelitos de guayaba y queso a reinvention of an old... More

Enjoyed- friendly, great service - very good food- enjoyed the alfresco dining... Happy hour cocktails a bit too sweet for my liking but overall an excellent find!

Dined here last night with a friend. All the food - shrimp in garlic sauce, churrasco, pork chops, churros - was delicious. I ordered a $12 cocktail and swear it didn't have any alcohol in it...I wasn't the slightest bit buzzed plus no taste of alcohol. But the kicker for the evening was the rude, gruffy waiter who couldn't bother... More

The food is amazing, we keep going every we go to the village. The Ropa Vieja beside a great presentation the taste is 100% Cuban. We almost try all appetizer as tapas with the sangria that is excellent. Love the yuca frita with mojo and the tamales. I will recommend it for a good time in the afternoon because it... More

Came here spontaneously with friends for dinner and sat in the garden which was very quiet and sometimes it took a while for the waiter to arrive but the food was nice. In fact, we had four different main dishes and the chuletas habaneras were the absolute winner. Also high on the list was the churrasco and the vaca frita.... More

Neighborhood Profile
West Village
Stretching from Sixth Avenue to the Hudson River, the West Village is one of the city’s most coveted addresses. Full of trendy shops, historic taverns, and cozy restaurants set amid 19th century architecture, this neighborhood has a unique old-world feel. You won’t find a more picturesque location in Manhattan. Without the traditional city grid layout, it’s easy to get lost here, but that’s part of the fun as you stroll down elegant narrow streets with beautiful brownstones. When you need a break, you can always stop in at one of the many quaint eateries or cafes to soak in the atmosphere, or head to the western edge of the neighborhood to enjoy magnificent waterfront views while taking a leisurely walk in Hudson River Park.
