Located in the heart of Chinatown, this restaurant offers authentic Dim Sum. The staff was friendly and attentive. The food was delivered to the table quickly. Delicious. Highly recommend. Try it!

Usually we are the English-speaking patrons but the menus come with pictures. Order things you already know and be ready for them to be better than you ever knew. Many times we survey the nearby tables, point and say "we'll have that". We have never had a bad dish. Cash only, but won't take a lot it it.

Decided to try this place having seen good reviews online, our experience however fell short of expectation.
We had spent some time in Chinatown and decided to try find some dim sum and a nice selection of food.
We arrived at around 7.15 and rushed straight in, we were advised that the restaurant closed in 30 minutes and we would be asked to leave. This wasn’t a huge problem as we only planned to have a small selection of dim sum, soup and some fried rice.
We were presented with a (several) menu(s) as long as our arm and when we finally made a selection we were told the dim sum kitchen was closed and to select something else.
In the end we went with some fried rice and then a beef kung po with nuts. The fried rice was fine, the beef meal was below average.
We were served a Chinese tea on arrival but not asked if we wanted any other beverages.
Overall the atmosphere was not welcoming at all and we were more a hindrance than a valued customer. It left us somewhat disappointed and sadly we would not return.
Maybe earlier in the day would have been a different experience.

Apart from the modern cafes with Asian food, that areeven too much these days (much more than one can eat) - this is the great gem in Chinatown - good prices, tasty and unusual dishes! Try shrimp dumplings and different combinations of rice noodles! Staff is very nice always greeting you with a tasty hot tea

We were famished after visiting 2 museums today and wanted some tasty Chinese food in Chinatown and so we went to XO Kitchen and we thought we had missed the time dim sum is served but they have it on the menu all day and night. The place isn't fancy and they only take cash.
We were seated in the back room which was fine with us as the front room looks a bit congested. We ordered some dim sum dishes like steamed pork spareribs, beef rice noodles, chicken feet as well as mabutofu with rice, pan fried chicken chow mein and barbecue pork lo mein. All were very tasty and delish! We ate all the food and nothing to take back to our hotel!
We would come back if we were here another day!

I felt at home and I was treated like family!! the price is a very cheap and casual meal or dinner with a big menu probably make u confused. aromatic environment pleased you obtusely. beef noodle, Korean BBQ with rice was the best among all the dishes that I ordered. service was cool.

If you look at some of the top rated chinese food places this comes up they are chains though.. I guess they're kind of the McDonald's or Wendy's of Chinese food up here.. it's kind of a typical Fair they have pictures of what you want they have all the classical type of things. Depends on what you get and when you go some is fresher than others I would go here again for kind of a quick cheap meal it's not going to necessarily be the freshest or most flavor compared to higher-cost restaurants

Will return.
No frills go to Cantonese restaurant in Chinatown. I only have the beef noodle 牛腩濑粉 and it tastes good. There are a few more tables in the back – so it’s too small.

Stuck on jury duty, I wandered around Chinatown looking for a lunch place and found this one with primarily Chinese customers, which I considered to be good sign. It was. The Kung Bao chicken was so good that I went twice more and ordered the exact same thing. The menu prices certainly can't be beat; but bring cash as they don't take credit cards.. There were many Chinese specialties I was unfamiliar with and so can't vouch for those but wish I lived closer so that I could eat lunch at XO regularly and experiment a bit. This place with its fresh, piping hot food and competent waitstaff is quite a find.

If you have never eaten at such a place before, this is not for the faint hearted. The dishes and dimsum steamers looked like they’ve been used for eons, and the orders just keep rolling!
On the plus side, they are a very authentic place, which is proven by the throngs of local people eating here. Obviously this place is very busy and being tiny (they can seat about 25 people) they are a superfast joint. You order off the menu indicating numbers and are all set. Food is very tasty (if you know what you want) and service is okayish. They have a narrow self serve bar as well, that seats 3-4. Would be an ideal choice for a quick, cheap and authentic Cantonese meal.

Lost--But Eternally Found
Most regular customers and try-it-out tourists plunge into the nearly constantly crowded XO Kitchen locus at 148 Hester Street in Manhattan, New York’s Chinatown because the throngs suggest tasty heavily fried edibles and an aura of seasoned “regulars,” serious devourers of meat, shellfish, and a teeny weenie number of vegetarian dishes.
Surprise then on our last foray there to feel and devour instead of the, excuse the expression, dishes, the somehow unusual for this site paleolithic outfits borne that day by the youthful customers accompanying their parents and grandparents whose wheelchairs and walkers they steered down the slim aisles the owner allows for entrances and exits.
First gaze at the yellow and black spotted slightly shirt worn, no flaunted, by a thinnish teen. It conveyed 1950s’ style but even before the 1950s arrived. A daunting cartoon danced on another young patron’s shirt; the words “We are the minority group” leaped from the camise to scanners’ eyes.
As usual the useless immense video screen directly opposite the service counter remained unwatched by all. Instead, customers and their body coverings won everyone’s gazes.
A woman’s blandly dyed gray and black top with not one iota of decoration grasped everyone’s attention, including mine.
The courageous simplicity of that simple upper covering brought back glimmers of a former, long-time, beautifully gaunt waitress from the very same restaurant who along with numerous other long-time waiting staff had two or three years back suddenly disappeared, perhaps dismissed or fired.
The image of that single, steadfastly slim personage, eternally adorned totally in black, eyes reaching out through her black-rimmed glasses to claim mine and everyone’s devotion, the winnowy essence of simplicity, reclaimed my vision, which in reality it had never lost.
She and the other lost restaurant staff remain embodied in the XO milieu forever.
Albeit never seen by you, her image will surely re-emerge upon your XO pilgrimage.
See it.

Basically a Cantonese eatery, but they also have Japanese style fried dumplings and curries, Korean BBQ with rice etc. I love the Cantonese congee especially the seafood congee.....
