Me and two of my co-workers had lunch at Chef Yu. I had the Young chow fried rice and the others had selections from the lunch menu. I'm a Chinese food junkie and have had it all over the world and this was by far the best mid town Manhattan has to offer. Atmosphere is very nice, wait service was... More

Very average food. The wine in the happy hour tasted off. The starters were nice and the location was great. The staff were average as well

We were staying at a nearby hotel and the concierge recommended that we order from Chef Yu. We received delivery within 10 minutes of ordering and our food was hot, fresh and fantastic. I had the pan fried dumplings and sweet and sour chicken and my friend had the General Tso chicken which was some of the best I've tasted.

Sangria didn't take nice (or probably I was comparing it from the sangria I had in Barcelona), the eggplant stir fry was okay, fish fillet was too salty and the scallops with black bean sauce was just okay but not amazing. Nothing too special.

We really enjoyed the Chinese dinner because the food was really good. Hot n sour soup, beef with oyster sauce and Schezuapn Chicken was really good. We recommend Chef Yu for a great service too. Go there you will not be disappointed.

I suppose most of the reviews on this place on TA are from people who don't get what a good Chinese place is. The decor looks great, but that's as far as it goes. We ordered egg rolls - they literally tasted like they week old dead fish in them. Then we ordered the staple Chinese entree, General Tso chicken,... More

Nice lunch Good hot and sour soup. Nicely spiced pork dish. Great dumplings. The only negative is that rest room was a full flite of steps up.

On a recent trip to my old "home town" I had a hankering for some good Chinese. A friend recommended that we meet at Chef Yu. I loved it. We had beef with scallions, sesame chicken, sweet & sour soup, fried dumplings -- all good. Ordering for two easily served three. With wine and beer, taxes and tip, the bill... More

We went for lunch and the price and food were pretty good. Service was fast and food very good value. A very ample saloon with capacity for a lot of people, although not cramped

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
