Good, basic Chinese food. No surprises, consistently good standards of Chinese. Yum!! Would have given four stars but for the server that came to the table and stood there waiting for us to pass her our water glasses over the food. I've never had that happen before.

We order delivery from here every time we are in the city. Prices are cheap, portions are huge, delivery is fast and most important, quality is high and food is delicious.

You would think a midtown NYC Chinese restaurant would have the same old stuff you see everywhere. This restaurant is more authentic Chinese, with lots of things that ate creative or like you might find in Chinatown, if you were lucky. The food was delicious and very flavorful. Prices are moderate. Service was excellent. The tables are well spaced, so... More

Ok. I will explain myself. Around this place there are many options, most of them offer you food for similar prices ( 10 usd, tax included), but in this case it is a restaurant that offers you a good meal. It tastes good. Personnel is really slow and they are not good dealing with tourist. So, I recommend, but do... More

I've been to Chef Yu at least 4x and this visit was by far the worst! It was empty (which was great) but it left me asking "then why is the service so awful??" I kid you not when I say my friend and I had 5 different waiters wait on us. 5!!! Service was sparse (despite the 5 waiters).... More

The chinese food here was decent though it can be less salty and oily. Portions were large and service efficient. Its a very typical American Chinese menu though the dishes are generally cooked well. As the place is quite large, noise wasn't a real factor the few times I was there.

The food at Chef Yu definitely is worthy of some of the hype I've read here on TripAdvisor. Without a doubt, the food tasted authentic, the ingredients seemed fresh, and the prices were right. Our family of three was able to eat a hearty meal for under $70, which is quite an accomplishment for a restaurant in the heart of... More

This is a great place to eat. The atmosphere is good and it looks like an expensive fine dining restaurant. The food is superb. It is inexpensive and presentation is great.

Service was ornery, borderline rude. But they can get away with it because the food is terrific. And VERY reasonably priced for New York City! We paid only $41 including 2 main courses, 2 cocktails, and a 15% tip for two people. Portions were huge. Flavors very, very good. We dined on a Monday night in March at 8:00pm and... More

Firstly, Ordered a cocktail off the menu and it came as some sort of spirit with a cherry in it, it was so awful it would burn the mouth off you. We asked to return this and were rudely told we would still have to pay for it. We then ordered the food - The soup was the first to... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
