This is one of my sister's favorite restaurants. She comes her so often the chef says hi to her. We always get the same thing, pasta with tomato sauce (has chilis in it, but I get it without that). It seems simple, but it's so delicious. You usually can't get food this good outside of Italy. Their polenta (loaded with... More

If you are thinking that you are going to have a perfect bowl of pasta in this adorable neighborhood boite, you would be wrong. The menu is so highly-over-produced that there literally was nothing on it that I was interested in putting in my mouth. I tried to order two appetizers as a work around but the server discouraged me... More

A tiny restaurant in Manhattan's Meatpacking District close to the subway at 14th Street and The High Line. The menu is restricted because food seems to be only cooked to order. High quality of everything was matched by the prices, but overall, it was the right place to met our friends and catch up on a Sunday night.

There are clearly many great Italian places in NYC but Dell'anima is at the top of the list. Great wine list. Food is always fresh and cooked to perfection. Very good pastas and inventive menu but maintaining traditional Italian appeal. I'll be back!

My wife and I were looking forward to an authentic Italian dinner on our first evening in the city. The taste, portions and wine were spot on. The GM Leah Kline looked genuinely interested in her guests' evening. Our two personal improvements would be to serve smaller slices for the bruschetta - ours were 'doorstep' thick - and not to... We were recommended here by the concierge at our hotel, couldn't have asked for a better place to go for Italian. We started with the pick 3 bruschetta, our favorite was the lily confit garlic. We both had the tajarin all carbonara, best we have had in a long time! Service was great and the atmosphere was cozy and comfortable.

This is it, guys, although I feel I should not be sharing this local neighbourhood hotspot with anyone as it is always jumping and never easy to secure a place, be it at the bustling bar frequently manned by the terrific team of Tony and Tara, or at one of the much sought-after tables. But wait! There is yet a... More

We visited this west village restaurant for the first time late Saturday night. The place was busy but not overly loud. The staff were all friendly and attentive and seemed to enjoy interacting with the crowd. All the menu choices were made on recommendations and were spot on. The bone marrow appetizer was amazing, the risotto cooked to perfection, and... More

If you're in New York and you like real Italian food Dell'Anima is the place to go. We were very fortunate to be seated at the chef's table and got to taste a sampling of many of the item menus. The charred squid salad was outstanding, most of the pastas are homemade and absolutely delicious. My son got the bone... More

Recommended to us by friends who live in Manhatten. Not one for those wanting a quiet spacious dining experience but fantastic for everything else. Food was excellent, service friendly, quirky menu choices cooked in view of diners. Place was packed from start to finish but considering it is small, not surprising. Advisable to book ahead and enjoy a great meal!!

Staying in West Village

Neighborhood Profile
West Village
Stretching from Sixth Avenue to the Hudson River, the West Village is one of the city’s most coveted addresses. Full of trendy shops, historic taverns, and cozy restaurants set amid 19th century architecture, this neighborhood has a unique old-world feel. You won’t find a more picturesque location in Manhattan. Without the traditional city grid layout, it’s easy to get lost here, but that’s part of the fun as you stroll down elegant narrow streets with beautiful brownstones. When you need a break, you can always stop in at one of the many quaint eateries or cafes to soak in the atmosphere, or head to the western edge of the neighborhood to enjoy magnificent waterfront views while taking a leisurely walk in Hudson River Park.
