We travel to NYC once or twice a year for the jazz scene. Among the MANY wonderful places to experience this art form is "Jazz at Kitano' - Our last visit was in Oct. 2016 to celebrate bassist Martin Wind's 20th Anniversary in New York City. Martin Wind, Jim McNeely, Ingrid Jensen and Matt Wilson. AWESOME evening. And this exceptional... More

We were staying in the hotel and the lure of good jazz could not be refused. Snazzy setting and great drinks!

The "Brazilian Trio" was excellent. Superb piano, bass and drums. None better in my many experiences here and elsewhere. They happily played a long set to the approval of the audience. A mix of known tunes and their first rate compositions. The venue looks great and is comfortable. (See other reviews about noise and visibility, which didn't impact me.) The... More

Jazz provides a nice range of both American and Japanese fare at breakfast. There are hot containers with eggs, meats, potatoes and pancakes on one side, and you can order the grilled fish of the day and miso soup from the servers. Juice, coffee, and tea is included as well. There are cold cereals and yogurts, a less than stellar... More

Musicians dress like they were a garage band. Selection was mainly to promote their own music. Hostess was professional, competent and did double duty clearing tables between sets. Room was 1/2 empty and a great many were friends of the performers. Spent some time in the very pleasant hotel lobby and looked in at the second set had about 10... More

Had a couple hours to kill before a late dinner reservation with the Mrs. on a Tuesday night. Solo pianist at first, later joined by a bassist. No cover, and reasonable minimum. Hostess and waiter couldn't have been more welcoming. Even on a Tuesday, the room was probably over 3/4 full, so we knew we picked wisely. Didn't order any... More

Who would expect an outstanding jazz show in a Japanese hotel? Well, the Kitano is the real deal! Most evenings they have one of the leading jazz bands on stage. The place is small, so there is no bad table. The acoustics is surprisingly good and the intimacy of the small place makes it even more enjoyable. The schedule changes... More

We weren't here to eat, but to listen to the music, which was a wonderful performance by world-class jazz musicians. We did enjoy some chocolate cake, however, and it was very good, of course. Not a big room—we enjoyed the intimacy of it.

I have enjoyed our lunch time at this place. We could chose one main of three kind of dishes, very delicious. Unfortunately, during my stay there, I had no chance to enjoy jazz, but the space seems like richly atmosphere.
