Had a couple hours to kill before a late dinner reservation with the Mrs. on a Tuesday night. Solo pianist at first, later joined by a bassist. No cover, and reasonable minimum. Hostess and waiter couldn't have been more welcoming. Even on a Tuesday, the room was probably over 3/4 full, so we knew we picked wisely. Didn't order any... More

Who would expect an outstanding jazz show in a Japanese hotel? Well, the Kitano is the real deal! Most evenings they have one of the leading jazz bands on stage. The place is small, so there is no bad table. The acoustics is surprisingly good and the intimacy of the small place makes it even more enjoyable. The schedule changes... More

We weren't here to eat, but to listen to the music, which was a wonderful performance by world-class jazz musicians. We did enjoy some chocolate cake, however, and it was very good, of course. Not a big room—we enjoyed the intimacy of it.

I have enjoyed our lunch time at this place. We could chose one main of three kind of dishes, very delicious. Unfortunately, during my stay there, I had no chance to enjoy jazz, but the space seems like richly atmosphere.

Sunday morning can be a depressing time, but not at the Kitano Jazz Room, where Sunday morning brunch is a robust but refine jazz banquet in an upscale environment that is casual but elegant. The Kitano is a small and chic East side hotel that is a far cry from the basements of Greenwich Village, but the atmosphere is intimate... More

This place is known for its top notch jazz acts. If you are looking to see some classic jazz in an intimate setting, then look no further. Be advised there is a cover charge for some acts. It's a great option and might be the only option for that genre in that general area

Good food and service. Jazz music was great. Was seated on time, after being greated. Seating was somewhat crowded for our party of 7 even though we had advance reservations. .

This restaurant features a sort of quasi-Japanese cuisine with a very good beer and wine lineup. The music changes from time to time: we heard a superb Brazilian jazz trio with a guest singer -- wonderful acoustics -- and the lineup changes from time to time.

This brunch was recommended by a local in the theater scene. We were very pleased. They had two seatings: 11 & 1. We were at the earlier slot and the small room was less than half full with only about 12 guests total. The food was excellent and so was the service. Tony Middelton sang classic jazz with a couple... More

Good drinks and food, lovely music. Loved the location. The gem session on mondays is a great opportunity to hear various kinds of music

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
