We discovered this spot by chance many years ago and it has become a tradition. I always get pancakes with pork sausge and the flavor is unbeatable. Also, greek omelette is a great choice if you don't like flour based dishes. The price is ok...considering its proximity to Central Park but it is worth of it.More

Nice Pancakes - different then the others! The omlett was nothing special but ok! All in all - a little bit to expensive for the offer! But the team was really friendly!!!

This is a classic NYC diner - small booths, somewhat loud, people waiting in line, hot coffee, and good food. We've eaten here a couple of times as it is so much better for breakfast than the hotel options. The food is very good and...fairly priced for NYC, but the real star is Irma, one of the servers. She is a delight...friendly, funny, and a real character. Astro Restaurant provides the quintessential NYC diner experience, and if you have Irma as your server, you're in for a treat. We'll be back.More

We ate here after recommendation instead of breakfast at our hotel, we weren't disappointed! Lots of choices, I had a different offering each morning, nice flavours and large enough portions to keep me away from snacking for a good while! Gluten free options were available...too. Waiting staff very friendly, not too busy when we tended to visit, around 8ish.More

Good place for a quick breakfast/brunch menu. They were very quick to get you in and out. Good service. Food was ok but not terrible. Think a casual diner. Family friendly.

We went here because we were passing by and decided to give it a try. Food was ok, pricing was average for this area and service has some room for improvement based on my expectations. After taking your order, don't expect much attention from the...server. Even when they bring your check, they don't tell you that you need to go to the register to pay, which is fine for the regulars, but for visitors it would be nice to knowMore

My perception of a typical New York diner. Lots of locals. Hot coffee. Large breakfast portions. Always very crowded and noisy. The food was good. I would go back.

Visited for breakfast on our final day. Not a huge place, but received a friendly, inviting, warm welcome. Excellent menu - opted for meat lovers omelette & banana stuffed French toast. Both were absolutely delicious !! (& notice the HP sauce on the table !!)....Would highly recommend a visit.More

It’s a guarantee that if we’re in Manhattan, we will go to Astro’s to eat. We’ve been there for every meal of the day; everything they offer is worth trying. We hear a lot of people gripe about the prices—being in the heart of Manhattan...allows them to charge a premium. It can be pricy, but the meals are generally large enough to split which makes the cost more manageable. It really has the little corner diner feel to it from the customers who actually use the coat rack at the front to the people sitting at the counter. Finally, if you’re into celebrity gazing; a lot of famous people eat there so keep your eyes open!More

Whenever we are in the City we try to have breakfast at least once at the Astro. This kind of family owned non chain place is fast disappearing from Manhattan, especially midtown. The welcome is warm and sincere. the food warm and delicious. You cannot...beat one of their eggs benedicts-with lox is a favorite. And you can also count on getting a great cup of bottomless coffee.More
